What will these "cheating on your ME1 LI" repercussions be?

Actually, Ash's email afterwards hints at her wanting to renew the relationship. So it seems to me like she didn't really move on.

I personally hope that cheating will make it harder to gain the trust of that person, or possibly even impossible. There should be definately be some tension.

Well yeah there is an I'm sorry email that hints they would like to get back together. But unless you did, nothing you do with anyone else is cheating. I remember distinctly saying I am free and clear.

Can you cheat on Ashley/Kaiden? I assume Kaiden said the same things as Ashley. There are no takesbacksies when you dump someone. Or did I misinterpret, I can;t trust you, you work for evil rant differently than others. And no an I am sorry email doesn't cut it.

Yes, it was very clear for both of them that they were done with you on Horizon. Even if they didn't really mean it, they still acted that way in the heat of the moment.

I CAN see it from their side, of having lost you, mourning you for two years, and then finding out you're suddenly alive and working for this corrupt organization... but that doesn't change that you asked for their help and they abandoned you. They didn't even offer to give you information when they could, like Liara does.

So it would take a lot of gall for them to suddenly come back and say "WTF. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE AFTER I TURNED MY BACK ON YOU! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO PINE AWAY WITHOUT MEEEEEEE!"

... Lol. I personally never saw it like that. I always liked Ashley, which is why I romanced her, so when I got that apology e-mail, my Shep went: "Awww, ****, I can't stay mad at her..."

And I pretended he sent a reply professing his continued love for her. Yes, I'm a sap. I just love romance in general though.

Like I said, I can definitely see it from their point of view. But they did drop Shepard during a critical mission (though Shepard always seems to be doing something critical). I don't think one e-mail makes up for that at all.

That's not to say they'd be a terrible relationship or people shouldn't have loyal Shepards. I certainly have a few Shepards that stayed faithful. I'm just adamant in my opinion that they can't come back later and claim you were a horrible person for 'cheating' on them after they left you.

But what if they do? Doth ye get the option for a SHEPARD PAWNCH? Hey, you can do it to al-Jilani. Twice. Who cares about your former crew? :P

[Edit]: The t got a way from me! Had to wrangle it back in.

Lmfao. I don't think I'd punch out Kaiden even if the option presented itself, but that's certainly a hilarious thought.

I suppose "shouldn't" would have been better wording than "can't". Clearly they can do whatever Bioware wants to write them to do.

They can however claim you're a horrible person if you want to immediately dump your ME2 LI as soon as you get the opportunity to get back with them.

Well Liara will understand and let it by, if LoTSB is any indication. Such a nice girl.

aaah, this keeps on croping up again and again. this is my theory, becasue I relaly hope Bioware goes back to characters acting in character and doesn't suddenly decide to turn the whole deal into Jerry Springer episode.

if you move on in ME2, you
1. lose a chance to get back together with your ME1 LI
2. Lose all but mission essential dialogue (as in, they feel hurt and don't want to be friends, but are professional and realize that reapers need to be defeated, so you just don't get to have personal chats anymore)
3. you might have an extra discussion with new LI, just to make sure everything is fine between you.

if you stayed faithful - you get continuation of the romance, extra persona dialogue and maybe extra cut scenes/something similar to ME2 's calling up your LI to your cabin.

if you start jerking both around, ala ME1 love triangle thing? they confront you and if you don't make a choice - they BOTH leave and you lose both relationships.

this is what I personally would prefer to see anyways.

edited to add.  while Horizon was sloppy, it wans't completely out of character, Ash/Kaidna were pretty justified in their anger, it hasn't been 2 years for Shepard, it was only few months (you were uncontious for all that time, so its not like you actualy felt its passage) and both of them show in their letters that they are not over you andif you wished to get back together?  they would be open to it.

If LOTSB is anything to go by, then it shouldn't be that much of a consequence. Anyone who played LOTSB with Liara cheated on knows what I'm talking about.

The problem with your example is that LOTSB isn't ME3, it is a DLC to ME2.

We do not know the full situation in ME3 so even if you do "get back" with Liara in LOTSB after you banged someone else, her reactions tells us NOTHING about what will happen in ME3.

Also just because liara is fine with it doesn't mean that's how everyone else is going to react. In ME1 she wasn't offended at shep’s suggestion of a threesome and now she doesn't seem to have a problem with sleeping with shepard even though she had knowledge that he /she was in a new relationship. So liara not getting mad at you doesn't mean much.

You'll probably just get an e-mail. Maybe a few extra dialogues.

your missing a critical part of what he/she said and that's if LOTSB is anything to go by then that's how it will probably be. We really have nothing else to go by other than LOTSB anything else is just pure speculation.

What I'll probably do, in ME2, is create a new save at whatever point in the game I'm at now, and not romance anybody, and then I will take the other save, and romance somebody different, just so I can see what the repercussions will be.

None, because I already spoke to Liara about it, and she thought it was okay. :P

I'd like to see some interaction between the two Li's, and not just a confrontation from your first one.

Though I could imagine several pretty awkward moments if you have both the old and new romances on the same squad.

Can you romance Liara in LotSB? I didn't know that. Is it only if you romanced her in ME1?
