By that I mean, has anyone else gotten an enemy that just stopped moving when it got down to a sliver of health but wouldn't die? I've had to reload and play a section over a few times because of this. It seems to be just with the undead/arcane/demons/shades as far as I can tell...

I play on x-box if that makes a difference.

I did notice this sometimes. Like the game is a bit late in realizing the enemy is dead.

Very annoying during the Rock Wraith fight, when you have to kill the ads as quickly as possible before you can focus on the boss.

Never seen an immortal enemy but the game does often seem to be slow to notice that i've killed enemies and the keep moving for a bit

Not that they keep moving for a while after all their HP is gone, but that they never die. It has always been just one enemy (usually a mini-boss type, like a rage demon or an arcane horror) that literally won't die. They will just freeze in one spot, not move around after they are dead. They will also have just a sliver of red left in their health bar, meaning that one hit should kill them, but your entire party can be attacking and they just... stand there.

I'm wondering if it isn't some sort of stonewall glitch. As in, an enemy that shouldn't have that ability is accessing a corrupted version of it.

I did once with Demon's Pride. I had to quit the game and re-load. It was fine after that.

I have had a similar problem, not that they wont die but just that for some really low level corpse it takes me longer to kill with the whole party attacking it than say a Commander type

Enemies are "immortal" while they spawn. But the word "immortal" doesn't fit because they indeed take damage, but they cannot die until the spawning animation has ended.

So, in the case of the ARW adds, while they spawn you can kill them, however, if the animation is still running, they seem to keep "living". In reality they are already dead, it is only that their status is not updated because it is stuck on the animation (and the health bar get stuck at 1%).

If you have Bloodlust (or similar), you will see, for example, that you will receive stamina while the ads are still there, meaning they are already dead and you can pass on. When the animation will stop running they will crumble.

All enemies that have spawns animations suffer this problem, and or you wait for the spawning animation to end to attack them (that's probably the best option) or you just know that they are dead when the spawn animation will end.

I didn't notice this bug before, but now with the 1.03 patch i see it very often, especially with shades or some archers.

Like the OP said, sometimes an enemy doesn't want to die, he has just a sliver of red left in their health bar, he is "stuck". Really annoying because my party members continue to attack him instead of focusing against an enemy really alive and doing damage.

@Amioran : this bug occurs even when the spawning animation is long over.

Maybe this bug is related to some weapons or runes, does anyone know?

Could a moderator move this thread in the Dragon Age II PC Technical Self Help section please, since it's obviously a bug? Thanks!

Immortal enemies are everywhere now. Shades, skeletons, rage demons, etc. Pretty much anything that is killed while its spawning becomes immortal.

Since the last patch I noticed some mobs just seems to get stuck on a sliver of life for a while. Eventually they do die but it seems like it takes the game a while to realise this. Not a huge problem but it looks odd when a trashmob get almost one or two shotted just to then start to put up a fight for a few more seconds and several more hits.

Yep. They don't attack, but they do distract my partymembers. And it seems to happen alot now rather than once a blue moon.

Yes, it seems to happen a lot more with the new patch. I was fighting the profane and they ALL got stuck on the sliver of life. I had to drop an AOE spell over the Rock Wraith to get them to die.

I get that all the time too. I think its a lag in recording damage. I've found I'll be beating on someone, their hp at just a sliver, and if i walk away to attack someone else they suddenly fall on their own.

I've been getting that a lot - I had to reload Fenris's quest because Hadrianna wouldn't die.

First time I've truly got frustrated with this. Trying to speed run the high dragon and those damn dragonlings won't die. I deal ~10x the amount I need to kill them while they happyily carry on attacking me. Maybe i'm only noticing it more now that my attack speed is faster but it's pretty ridiculous.

I can't remember if immortal enemies were a problem pre-patch, but it seems like the problem has spread from 'enemies while spawning' to 'enemies while in the middle of an attack animation'.

Arghh.. bloody zombie dragonlings. There's almost nothing I can do to protect my companions from them. They just keep on attacking even though they should be dead!
Just did it in ~6mins with my whole party dead but Varric. And guess who killed my companions?
THose bloody undead dragonlings. *rant rant rant*

Why are you still playing this game? The most sensible thing to do is put it back on your shelf until bioware fixes what it broke.

Hmm.. I don't really know myself. I got somewhat bored of torchlight. I might pick it up again, but I've never really liked those games without a story-line and the combat is a tad too repetitive for me.

And for some reason this made me feel like doing the dragon in a really short period of time. I mean, he's basically suggesting that it should take 30 minutes which is plain ridiculous. (Also I dislike his avatar).

As it is I think that I can knock it down to ~3minutes if anders doesn't get himself killed...

semi-related post: 'turian councilor knockout' is up there with 'big stupid jellyfish' (both bsn users) on the 'names that never fail to make me cry laughing' list.

totally related post: they are not going to 'fix' it, considering that they believe this patch was the fix, the game will continue to be fail until the end of time.

Then the game sits on the shelf and gathers dust.  Either way, it's no great loss really :P

Why are you still in the forums if you aren't interested in playing the game?

To the OP, it isn't just a PC problem--I'm on the PS3 and have the same thing. There's a thread about it in the PS3 support forum too.

I didn't notice it until the latest update, though. Now I get it pretty often.

How else is one supposed to ascertain if and when they fix the game?
