When you get the quest "To Catch a Thief", you accompany Isabella to the foundry where the relic is being exchanged. As soon as you enter, she leaves your party. At this point, the Thumbs Up ability is still present on Hawke, even though Isabella is not in the party.

In addition, I saved and loaded subsequent saves after this point and the Thumb's Up ability is still there.

Doesn't matter. Attack speed does not decrease. It will eventually remove itself when she's out of the party anyway, although I don't know what triggers it.

You sure about that? It is very unnerving to see it there, and there is no way to check attack speed statistics in game.

I'm 100% sure about it. I encountered exactly what you're talking about and had the same reaction. The first time I noticed it was actually when I went to the Hawke estate and she was automatically removed from the party. It will go away eventually and NOTHING will happen to attack speed.

The icon still shows up, but rest assured no damage will be done. If the icon bugs you that much just add and remove isabella from your party after act 2 and the icon goes away.

It was said that the patch is not retroactive

it is not retroactive. So, if you have a corrupt character, it will
still be broken but it will not get any worse. My advice is to load an
earlier save where the problem does not exist (or is very minimal) if
that is a possibility.
We are currently working to put a full retroactive fix in for the next patch though.

thumbs up gets removed when you bring her back in the party and remove her
