Why does it show Dragon Age Awakening as available downloadable content while my Dragon Age Awakening disc is inserted after installing Dragon Age Awakening from the disc to the harddrive? It doesn't make sense.

Because it is available as a digital download on XBox Live and you (and many others like myself) haven't bought it.
You should also see Feastday Gifts and Feastday Pranks as available too even if you bought the combined package, or in your case having the Ultimate Edition.
I put it down to marketing myself.
