I started playing this game again with my new receiver and I noticed something very odd. Whenver I'm playing the game the audio works fine sounds are nice and clear and coming from the correct speaker however when the game goes into a cutscene all of that changes

All the dialogue appears to be coming from multiple speakers really low and with lots of reverb. It's extremely annoying the only way to make sound clear enough is to switch my speakers to stereo. I noticed that this happens on boy my PS3 and Xbox 360. 

Originally I played this game with an older receiver using Toslink/optical but since then I replaced my receiver since the old one went caput. 

My question is this, does this game decode Dolby Digital correctly? Meaning that the dialogue is sent to the center speaker or what?

I suspect it could be due to my receiver but it's the only game I've noticed that does this. However I have tried to find out if my receiver is decoding the signal differently and adding special effects to the audio but after consulting my manual special effects are exclusive only to none digital sources meaning I can't change them so I doubt the receiver is adding anything. 

Any thoughts?

What type of receiver do you have? I'm assuming you're playing with a surround setup.

The only thing I can think of is that your receiver is using some sort of Pro Logic audio processing and its doing weird things to the game sound. I'd mess around with those settings and see if you can come up with something sounding better.

I've never noticed any weird reverb coming from my side speakers. I think dialogue only comes out of the center channel for me.

I had the same problem with an off-brand HDTV I had. It did not process the dolby digital sound correctly, but it was only in the cutscenes. I had to go into my settings on both of my consoles (PS3 and X360) and change the output to something else.
