So much hostility over so little an issue. And people wonder why there's so much war and misery in the world. Go figure.

Ok then, now that we understand eachother your concern is unfounded. It would be like saying that apple sales are hurting oranges that season when we all know an apple pie wouldnt be the same with oranges or that orange juice made with apples is actually applejuice.
MW2's hype doesnt deter from DA:O's sales because simply they are two very different games. The ONLY similarity is that they both have achievements.
EA/Bioware markets their product to ALL gamers, as does Activision. Of course there is rivalry, but the only sales that you STEAL (how many people are really choosing between the two games, honestly) with one or the other is ones from the same game genre. A better argument would be, is DA:O hurting Assassins Creed 2's sales because of the success it has been having across the PS3 and Xbox platforms. Those games are actually similar.
But yes, some people who MAY have bought DA:O may have changed their mind when MW2 came out, but the amount of people that did are small and not worth the time to fret over.

Good, I know it's really fan boyish of me, but I really want Dragon Age to make a damn big sum of $$$ so I can see much more of this franchise in the future.

I really hate to say it, cause I agree with most of what you say, but the apples/orange example doesn't work all that well. Sometimes I'm so low on cash, I go for apples as they tend to be cheaper and I can't always afford both, and they both serve the same purpose... except in flu season when I need the extra vitemin C ;)

If it makes you feel anybetter, me and LordRascel came to a very nice agreement.

BUT the anger stems from two things I imagine

A. The title of my thread that made it sound like I thought MW2 was superior, my fault
B. The fact MW2 is getting so much attention it's insane. I think many of us think Dragon Age deservers this kinda praise rather then a game that boasts 5 hours of single player.

Ironically B is caused by the fact Dragon Age is the opposit of MW2. A vast and deep singleplayer experiance, but no multiplauer. MW2 is the excat opposit. Now, I would think they would attract diffrent player bases if it wasn't for the fact I wanted them both really bad, many of my friends bought both, and a few of my friends didn't buy Dragon Age because they bought MW2.

Who in their right mind would EVER google anything that has to do with Penny Arcade?

That's like asking if the sales of bananas will hurt the sale of oranges. People will buy one, or the other, or both, depending on their preference. Both games have certainly been sufficiently advertised.

well said crawling_chaos..

anyways, I have both Dragon Age and MW2. It took me around 4 hours to finish MW2, then played for a few hours in multiplayer with my friends, like 2 hours... Well 6 hours is the amount of time it took me to go from 0% to 8% content done in Dragon Age.

Not gonna say i'm a MW2 Advocate because i took DA out of my xbox for the 2 days that i played it when it came out and now DA is right back in and hasn't left its throne in a week and a half. but unless you have finished the main campaign on regular and either hardened or veteran and acheived the highest level in online play and collected all 69 stars in spec ops you haven't even come close to the end of MW2 either.

A game ends whan its content have nothing else to offer you. In this case, when I have beaten MW 2's criminally short singleplayer campaign, the game will no longer hold any interest to be outside maybe the ocational replay. Or if I'm bugged enough, the rare online play. Hence the game for me for all intents and purposes is over. Sure there's still more I COULD do. But that don't mean I WILL do it. Just as I COULD pee on a electric fence, doesn't mean I WILL do it.

when i go out in real life, pretty much everyone i meet likes me and is nice to me. i guess you could say im a people person as far as that goes.

get on the internet forums though and i get more hate in a day than ill see in a year of real life.

No, it won't hurt the sales. They are two entirely different type of games, and usually the casual gamer only plays primarily one genre.

In the "western world" this is mostly true. But once you start looking at what's going on in various less fortunate contries, and then there's the growing iceberg between russia and the US. And well. that discuaaion is neither here nor there. And more importantly, off topic.

But you last statement in one word is: true
