Does anyone know a good medieval RPG for the PC?

I'm looking for something like with castles, horses, swords, knights, and/or takes place in the 13th century.

I'm willing to buy it from a store, but I will not pay monthly for it. I don't care if it's online or offline.

Anyone have any ideas?

I've already played World of Warcraft, Oblivion, Morrowind, Mount and Blade: Warband, Dragon Age, and a bunch of others.

Some great examples of what I'm looking for is:

A friend let me borrow it and I had no idea where to go since there was absolutely no waypoints or real since of direction, didn't get to play that much of it but is it fairly easy to find things? If so I might buy a used copy and try it out. Also has skyrim looked good so far? Haven't watched any videos of it but my friends think I should get it.

I should've added a list of games I've already played. Yes, Oblivion was AMAZING. I've played all the Elder Scrolls games.

I had a pretty easy time finding things. You should listen to what the guys have to say. That should help you. It is a really good game and you should buy it (for PC...just because consoles suck). If you go here, you'll find the trailer of Skyrim. Skyrim is going to be a huge success (probably), but I just can't wait 7 months.

I reccomend Oblivion aswell, It may seems overwhelming at first but you get used to it after a couple of quests. It really open for example you can just ignore the main questline and go do what you want, I especially reccomend doing the Dark Brotherhood questline its one of the funnest things i've done in a game.

Pick up the Divinity 2 Ultimate Edition maybe. It's called Dragon Knight Saga.

You'll get a lot of positive response to that game here.

I have to advise you to steer clear of Arcania Gothic 4.

I regret buying it.

@Dannybare, I have to agree - "Whodunit?" and "Paranoia" from Oblivion are two of my all time favorite quests from any RPG. These are terrifically well written quests.

eeh all I remember was roaming some huge land after getting away from prison or something like that (don't exactly remember so I apologize if I'm incorrect). Have you played fable 3? my friends liked it but my cousin said it sucked would you recommend that as well?

Witcher 2 is close to release!!

Oblivion if you plan to get all crazy with the mods. With out the mods the game is boring really and doesn't let you play how you want until properly modded.

I really want to play Fable 3 and Fable 2, but I don't have an Xbox 360...and I never will.

:(   Okay...I take it back. Consoles don't suck...but I still dislike them.

Mount and Blade: Warbands

It has multiplayer(optional, for deathmatches etc.), horses, armor, all types of weapons, a great foot and horse combat, castles and siege stuff, courtship, tournaments sandbox styled of gameplay and lotsa mods ranging from Ancient Greece to Star Wars.

EDIT: Nevermind, seems like you've already edited your post. Damn you for confusing me.

"Really boring" is going a bit far: vanilla Oblivion is still a pretty good game with more things to do that average.  But the potential for changing elements of its gameplay with mods is absolutely immense and the only real problem there is knowing when to stop adding things to it...

I could never get over how different it felt going from Morrowind to Oblivion. On a console you couldn't have mods so it wasn't until I upgraded my PC that I was able to enjoy Oblivion and that was only because of the mods.

Stealing wasn't fun because guards automatically knew I stole something. Thanks to Theives Aresenal it was changed and included some awesome additions to the bow.

Combat wasn't very fun. Deadly Reflex really made it fun and Bethesda probably saw how great it was and changed it for Skyrim.

Other major mods aren't coming to mind right now but it wasn't until the 2nd year oblivion was out I started playing it on PC.

I've checked out Mount and Blade, but I don't like the "take your army wherever you go" thing.

I've also checked all of the above, and I've already checked them out/already played them.

I mean, I don't know how far back you want to go. Gothic 2 and 3 are good games. Don't know if you've played those. Stay away from 4 as someone else mentioned.

I'm going to assume if we go wayyyy back you've already played games like Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale, etc.

Personally, I found M&B to have very fun mounted combat, but I got bored after a few hours and stopped because the quests are repetitive and uninteresting. There isn't really much of a story.

I didn't try the multiplayer, unfortunately, or any mods.

I've just noticed that a minute ago, thank you very much.
Seems like Bioware Social is kinda slow with updating the edited post. because I could swear there was no M&B just a moment ago.

Meh. You'll probably scoff at this one like so many others, but I think Torchlight is an awesome game. It's really a dungeon crawler loot grab Diablo clone (and that's totally fine since it's made by many of the original Diablo creators). Feels a lot like Diablo's bastard son. Could always wait for the second game. It comes out in a couple months, with Multiplayer!

How about Assassin's Creed (2, Brotherhood)? Castles, horses, swords, bad guys in realistic plate armor knights, stuff you've mentioned is there.:P

And the combat has some nice finishers.

I remember when Gothic 3 was in vogue, there were a lot of things being posted like that where you could simply subtract one from those numbers to get a flavour of it.

But actually that's not to quibble with your point.  Gothic 3 wasn't perfect but I had a lot of fun with it: can't remember how many hours I put into it now but it must've been at least a couple of hundred.  Great soundtrack and an interesting world to explore.

Gothic 4 had potential; shame it didn't really deliver.  That said, I couldn't get into it enough to repeat the stages you're faced with in the demo so maybe it gets better, but others' reports don't fill me with confidence.  A pity, because I think it could've been so much more if it wasn't rushed to market.
