Something like the Sims Medieval...but with free walking around (W, S, A, D keys).

How can you continue to be so infuriatingly specific and vague simultaneously? Posted Image

Again it's just a poor game using sex to sell the product, and if you go into the actual Witcher thread on this forum you can clearly see sex is the only reason people are getting this game no matter how they make it look otherwise, and the 10 or 15 locked threads due to innapropriate content from The Witcher prett much proves this as fact.

Have you looked at some of the character threads in the Dragon Age and Mass Effect sections of this forum?

Problems I had with the Witcher:

I can't really say I agree with any of your points except that the voice acting sometimes grated.  I really think that further discussion would be more suitable for a Witcher-specific thread, though.

Yes but most of that is generated by the fans, the stuff that I am refering to wa generated by the developer.

Okay I'm going to apoligise to the OP for derailing his thread, I had no right to but I needed to, again, state my views on the game and that the views were based on facutal experience with the game on not just made up (though based on the quick reactions people still think otherwise).

As for good fantasy RPG I keep going back to the old school games such as: Wizardry, The Bard's Tale, and if you like a decent Hybrid RPG I would try Quest For Glory.  They are more retro style games but they do have very good content and challenges.  I would also recommend Arcanum as well, it also has a very well thought out world that combines fantasy and technology.

I agree with almost all your points (except for voicework), especially the combat which almost made the game unplayable for me. I really still think it has a lot to offer though. If only other RPG developers would adopt The Witcher’s approach and actually keep the promise of their marketing gimmick so eagerly tacked on to the back of every box which states “Explore a world which changes according to your actions!” or something similar.

I wasn't feeling the Witcher at first, but after a few hours it seriously grew on me.

By the time I finished the game, I was a huge fan.

My favorite part is the scene where you must get completely hammered drinking with Dandelion and Zoltan and then choose where you want your friends to drop you off, only to be harshly reprimanded by either Shani or Triss, while the visual effect of drinking means you can barely see what's going on.

It has multiplayer(optional, for deathmatches etc.), horses, armor, all types of weapons, a great foot and horse combat, castles and siege stuff, courtship, tournaments sandbox styled of gameplay and lotsa mods ranging from Ancient Greece to Star Wars.

EDIT: Nevermind, seems like you've already edited your post. Damn you for confusing me.

Where can I download the starwars mod for it?

Betrayal at Krondor & Darklands

Yes, that's almot exactly what I'm looking for...but it needs to be way newer (like 2007+).

Click here to see the gameplay video of it. I need something that looks like this...but way newer.

Or Return to Kronder...but, again, newer. This is a bit newer than Betrayal at Krondor & Darklands.

Sorry for being so vague. I just can't compare any games to what I need.

What the hell is wrong with this guy? Sex wasn't mentioned until you brought it up. And if your so sceamish around the topic of sex maybe you need to get in touch with yourself and be sure of sexuality.

I don't see you talking about Isabella being a **** or Morrigan coming on to Sten or teasing Alistair but because Witcher 2 is rated M and decided to actually use the rating to it's advantage you kept bombaring the thread with useless and close minded posts.

And to stay on topic OP look at this game. The First Templar on Steam. It's 15% off on preorder and your a templar so it's during the Middle Ages ofcourse.

Dude, dumb.  If you didn't like it, fine, but that is just dumb.  The Witcher is a fine game.  Sometimes its fans wax too lyrical about it, but a medieval RPG fan who doesn't play it is... I dunno, there's no reason not to.

Looking forward to TW2, won't be long now.

He asked for a "Good" RPG. Witcher is just a bland stuck in the middle porn game that really has a low and subjective view of women.

You need a hobby.

theres Demon souls, not sure if you have to pay monthly or not its supposed to be a good console MMO.

king aruther a roleplaying wargame is decent, i played a demo might not be right for you since its made by the guys who made mount and blade.

sorry i cant be of much help.

i did pretty much the same thing you did a few months back.

If you get really desperate, try Eastern European companies, they make big games that don't hit huge in Western markets, but be careful, they can be really terrible, they don't check for bugs as much as western Companies.

It actually has a very believable and realistic atmosphere since the game take places during the 1200's I think. Though it's not Earth but I'm saying it looks and feels like the Middle Ages.

Not an MMO and no there isn't a subscription.

It's 4 player online max but..it's online system is very very unique.

Thank you, Fufu12. The First Templar is exactly what I'm looking for, but it comes out in a few months. Is there anything that's already out?

Demon's Souls also looks really good, but it is only on the PS3, which really sucks. I'd buy it right now if it was on the PC.

Two Worlds lets you use a horsey, I believe.

I thought TW2 was good. But unfortunatley a bad story, limited exploration and a terrible VA for the PC means it doesn't merit more than one playthrough. And it feels like it suffers from "Oh ****! The release date's almost here!" syndrome.

Arx Fatalis (First person underground RPG - spiritual successor to Ultima Underworld - the same series TES is inspired by) - it is however made in 2002 but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it. The main storyline takes at least 60 hours to finish. No horses but there are castles.

Two Worlds - if you can get pass the poor graphics and terrible voice acting. There's a decent RPG here with a huge varied world to explore. Horses and castles included.

Two Worlds II - improved graphics and voice acting at the expense of a huge world to explore but quests are more detailed than the original and more people seem to like it as a whole. Horses and castles included.

Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga - it has flaws but the quests, dialogue and RPG elements are amazing. No horses though but dragons...yes. There aren't any castles but there are areas which are called dark fortresses - they are fortresses basically but don't look like castles - and these areas and the quests associated with them are the crowning parts of the game in my opinion.

Hmmm, there's The First Templar as people have said but you may want The Cursed Crusade. You play as a crusader but the story seems to take a dark twist like with Knights of the Temple and judging by some of the trailers and images - you start fighting demons and even become one yourself. Combat looks like Assassin's Creed combat (decent game but ruined by the story in my opinion) but more bloody. Sadly for you, it's a July release. However, I think The Cursed Crusade lacks RPG elements or contains very minor ones whereas The First Templar seems to have a skill tree system where you can buy new skills and abilities (and upgrade them) with EXP. Hopefully The First Templar is like The Lord of The Rings - Return of The King (game) where you could replay missions to upgrade your characters to the max. I might pick it up myself when it's cheaper. I'm also fascinated with Templars.

As for wolfsite people - lay of off him. I agree with his views about The Witcher. Does that make me a Bioware developer too? Yes? Well yes then, I'm a Bioware developer, if that's the new insult on these forums then this place is really going downhill fast.

Two Worlds and Two World II look pretty good. I'll look into them. Arx Fatali also looks interesting. And The Cursed Crusade...but it comes out this Summer.

I know it has been suggested already but I'll have to suggest Mount and Blade: Warband again. It's rather light on the character interaction and certain RPG aspects but it's a great open world sandbox sort of title. Start out with you and a band of cheap mercs doing quests for kings until you raise an army yourself and are crushing all who stand before you. I think you can get it relatively cheap now too.

I really dislike the combat in Mount and Blade. The whole army and everything. And character interaction is important for me.

That's fine. These days I'm waiting for Skyrim, but I'm going to see what the reviews think of that First Templar.
