Maybe he's not yet comfortable with the whole idea. Maybe he is more reserved and doesn't want to risk being judged by the warden. *shrug*
I'm bi (I'm female). If a guy is cute, I may make a flirtatious joke. If a girl is cute, I'm unlikely to make a remark unless there's some hint she is into women or at least cool with being hit upon. The percentages are just different.
I don't see the big problem with Anders not hitting on the warden if male.

Thing is, you can interpret things are you wish. But if you never play a male Hawke, you can just very well imagine that Anders is straight, cause it's not like he says anything about Karl if you're female *sigh*.
I really don't see what the big deal is.

My apologies. I forgot to mention one other thing. He doesn't flirt with male wardens like he does female wardens, implying that he does not have the preference for men that he does for women--at least, not at that time.

For the record, bisexual or homosexual men do not, as a rule, flirt with every other man they come across. It's not a means of disproving his preferences.

That the man never flirts with a belching dwarf, a brooding pariah or his commanding officer doesn't make me conclude he was irreversibly straight.

I call foul. Why? Because your male warden can have the EXACT same backstory and personality as the female and it does not change the fact he still prefers the woman.

So what? Falling in love with Zevran doesn't means that the Warden never went from straight to gay/bisexual? He's still straight, but loves Zevran?

That's... not even remotely how sexuality works.

Take it to the writers, then.

Come on.  The warden was apparently not really anyone's type in Awakening.  The warden was on 6 month celibacy course in that game.

Truly, what does it matter if he never made any comments about men in Awakenings? Perhaps he wasn't attracted to any of them? Nathaniel's got an enormous hooter, Oghren's short and smelly and Justice is DEAD. He didn't really have many male flirting OPTIONS, especially if your warden was female. And if your warden was male, NEWSFLASH he probably WASN'T ANDERS' TYPE. SHOCK HORROR.

Anders being bi is not a plot hole. Period.

le sigh it just seems to me on the bi thing is people are afraid that they might be attracted to a fake man or that he might like Hawke's cawke more...I honestly don't care if he was bi or not, I went into the game with the intent to tap his ass, and I did.

I can only speak for myself of course, but I just find it mildly annoying because it seems as though they went back and took a straight character and made him bi for the sole purpose of making him fit in with DA2's "anyone can sleep with anyone" mindset.

Oh really? Perhaps I should tell some of my bi acquaintances of your sweeping claims.  They ought to enjoy being told that what they went through is so "not even remotely how sexuality works".  It should be a laugh to hear their reaction.

This.
Homosexuals and bisexuals do not wear large flashing signs around their necks saying "I LIKE those of the same sex".
THEREFORE, if one were to be attracted to a man (if they are a man) they would be very cautious about approaching said man. Last thing you want...is to make a suggestive comment to a raging homophobe and get your nose broken...or worse.
At least...most men would be cautious. Zevran...not so much.

Sure, but I don't remember him flirting with my female wardens either. The 'pretty girl, right here' option perhaps, but that's a conversation choice the player character makes, to which Anders just chuckles.

The Angry One wrote...

And? So? Therefore?
All we get from that is at that time, Anders preferred women. He can still be attracted to men while going through a time when he's thinking more about being with women.
It happens to me.

Well, apparently we're deviants. How dare we not be completely linear with sexual preference, hmm? How confusing for others.

Considering Hawke, whom apparently Anders has a stiffy for no matter what, is essentially the same person as the Warden (because let's face it, everyone has a certain style even if that style is trying every different style), that doesn't really work.  If Hawke is his type, then the Warden probably was too.

He was comfortable with the idea of being with another guy. He says in DA2 that he had an affair with Karl (assuming back at the Ferelden Circle), who was his first (assuming first male lover).

Still, doesn't mean he needs to express it to just anybody who he meets or that he wants to sleep with every guy he meets. But I'm repeating myself now...

Honestly sexuality is such a varied thing and we don't know that much of Anders in Awakening to begin with.
Especially as it never goes beyond joking/flirting.

Except that Anders and Karl were together for a short time long before Awakening. Anders tells you this.  He was an apprentice at the time. I don't know why people think Anders and Karl being together is a recent thing.

I, for one, welcome our bisexual romances.

And there was nothing in Awakening that said "ANDERS IS STRAIGHT." It was always inferred as such. So unless there was a point in Awakening where Anders was wearing a giant "I'm a Straight!" sign around his neck, I'm never going to be convinced that his bi-ness is a retcon.

I'm definitely not against him being bisexual at all.

Just in my opinion it comes out of left field; considering how his character gravitated toward women so much in awakenings.

so that means Karl was in the Ferelden Circle?! I knew it! I just knew it! He's been bi this whole time!

edit: I didn't know for certain whether Karl was a member of the FC or the KC, so I wasn't claiming either as fact. though I've believed that Karl was a member of the FC when Anders was there.
