Paragon wouldn't want it due to the amount of death, and Renegade wouldn't want it as it would put aliens back in power and humanity near extinction. No idea honestly.

I take issue with this, if simply because it portrays Paragons as people unable to sacrifice things for the greater good and Renegades as alien hating bigots who are so petty that they would doom the entire galaxy unless their species came out on top.

An idealist (Paragon) would naturally try to prevent sacrificing a world to end the conflict, and try to find another way, and if the only option was sacrifice would try to minimize the loss of life; but at the end of the day if it was the only option for victory would not hesitate to go ahead with it. The pragmatic (Renegade) while most likely not happy would accept that sacrificing one world now to end the war would be the most efficient and therefore the best course of action. And wouldn't waste time that quite frankly doesn't exist chasing as solution that might not pan out in the end.

if that's the calculus. My main Shep is paragon to the core, she doesn't think of human lives as being worth more than alien lives. Earth gets the same treatment from her as the other homeworlds.

silly paragons. You guys would sell out billions of your own people for other races who don't even trust or like humans.

silly renegades. you would destroy the rest of the galaxy to save your own race, who by and large don't even trust or like you

Check the sig I'm not a paragon, though I would let the rest of the Galaxy burn to save my own if that's the only choice I had, though that's not a choice I'd want to ever make. Luckly Bioware isn't going that direction.

Never said you were paragon, wasn't a personal attack it was just saying the renegade view of humanity first is as mockable as a hippie-interpretation of what a paragon does

Probably, hmmm it would be interesting if it was earth vs Palaven or the batarian homeworld... but the later have strategic advantages to keeping.
We'll be fine, the universe somehow has more humans than any other species even in the citadel, and obscure colony worlds anyway.

But Earth could end up being a lost cause and you could be wasting resources.

if it was for a greater cause like earth or the galaxy I would do so but it depends on the situation

but this is something we will never known until the release of the game

Huh!? You would sacrifice earth.. to save earth?  Did I read that wrong?

If there was no other option left no matter what, then I would make that painful choice for the chance to save as many lives as possible if it meant stopping a major threat.

I wouldn't be happy with doing so, but sometimes you have to place the needs of the many over the few.

Destroying Earth to fight the Reapers is psychotic. It's like getting held up by a mugger, only instead of handing over your money or fighting him, you explode your suicide bomber vest.

Exactly it gets rid of the source of the problem instead of giving into it or wasting time with it so sacrificing earth is probably the best way to go.

So it's better to commit suicide than spend time solving a problem? Okay, then...

I'd rather have my shepard die with honor, and not be known as the man who put humanity on the endangered species list. Same with any other home world. For me all of my options and resources would have to be exhausted before making that move.

If it was an end all die all mission where Earth and the Reapers would be destroyed, then I'd say goodbye to Earth, but that's the only way. There has to be an alternative, there would be no way where I or my Shep would sacrifice billions of lives if it wasn't necessary.
