Hi guys i'm experiencing a major problem. I just bought my Mass Effect CD for my laptop, but the saferun error just kept showing up,so i tried the manual installation solution instead.
Here's the manual installation link:http://meforums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html?topic=631883&forum=127
Anyway, i followed the instructions and tried extracting all the .rar files using WinRAR. However, while extracting the folder MapsUNC.rar, 1 of the files (BIOA_UNC55_00_LAY.SFM) just can't be extracted. I have totally no idea what to do with it. Tried searching it on the forums and the internet, but couldn't find any solution.
Here are my laptop specs:
Intel Core 2Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40 GHz
3GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS (Driver Version 8.15.11.8644)
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS
Direct X 11

Try copying the entire contents of the disk to a folder on your drive, and then installing from there. Sometimes the drive caching and/or spin-up timing can go astray during the installation process.

Tried, but doesn't work. I tried copying the entire mapsUNC.rar folder but it always hangs at a specific point, which is presumably where the problematic file(BIOA_UNC55_00_LAY.SFM) is.
Any other solutions? I searched the internet to find a replacement mapsUNC.rar folder but can't find it.
EDIT: 1 thing i noticed was that whenever the extraction failed, an error (Cyclic Redundancy Check) would always pop up.
EDIT2: Another thing i just found out is that it may not just be BIOA_UNC55_00_LAY.SFM that has the problem, other files located inside mapsUNC.rar has it as well.
