Will you be sad if DA2 is the final installment of DA in the world of Thedas?

The Dragon Age IP is not going away anytime soon. After playing DA2 I have an even lesser desire to crawl through DA:O again. The silent hero is so 20th century.
Stopped reading at "so 20th century". Too indicative of the change-is-always-awesome, new-is-always-better, consume-replace-consume-replace attitude that's helping to chew up and spit out our culture.
My sentiments as well. I have no problem with change, but this kind of change is just aimed at the sole purpose of marketing and promoting consumerism, leaving little to the imagination and fostering any artisitc values..
Going by the previous poster's comment, I would think "button awesome" would fit that too, I mean, button mashing games have bene around as long as games that require imagination and creativity.
Also, you can't call a voiced PC an impovement over the Silent Protagonist, you can only call it two different styles.
The silent protagonist offers pros that Voiced PC doesnt have, and vice versa, so calling VP an improvement is unfair.
SP offers more of an ability to role play within the character, and to be that character, whilst offering huge amounts of immersion and depth, but makes the PC a less "defined character". This works well in classic RPG's like DAO.
VP offers easier access and fluidity, plus more of a defined character for the story, but also limiting the role playing options of the character, since the character is not you. This works well within games like Mass Effect.
It just comes down to personal preference, i prefer the SP, but don't say one is an "improvement" because its not, its just a different way.
Yes! Probably one of the more reasoned replies I've read here in a while. It really does come down to taste and I will never say that VP cannot be part of role-playing, though like you, I more than prefer the SP. The VP worked very well in Mass Effect for example. My problem with DA2 is not that there's VP, but that the story is so disjointed, areas so re-used and the scripting of the dialogue was poorly written, that having a VP just added to the poor quality, which, IMO, didn't define DA2 as an RPG as much as an action/adventure game. Some of the responses just came across as blunt, aside from many times the answers/questions I chose just didn't fit the responses.
This^ Same here, and it is a very well done on SP and VP. I prefer the SP too, I want to be the character and have more immersion. Again personal preference

Not really, even if i never see the rest of morrigan's story i can go to sleep happy that someone somewhere will take the lessons of DA2 to heart and not **** up a good IP in a similar fashion.
Thank you ever so much for reminding me why I owe those who helped bring down the Gabriel Knight franchise ("Sierra will learn that 3D doesn't belong in an adventure and then........WOO!") and thus contributed to the death of an entire genre a good verbal lashing. Because Sierra sure "learned". Have you seen an Adventure franchise that came even CLOSE to the GK series since 1999? No? Take a guess why. Such a "victory" is beyond hollow and nothing to be proud of.

He/she doesn't like me anyway. I happen to love DAII and not worship DAO without reservations. So build my pyre already! The witch must burn!
(Some haters really do remind me of the mob trying to burn Abigail in "The Witcher".....)

I sided with the villagers(I played Geralt as a giant douche)
Evil creature!!! While Abigail is far from my fave character, I would
NEVER support such bigotry. Ever. But I'll have to play an evil Geralt
one of these days.....[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie]

What? Sierra's last good game was Lords of the Realm 2.
Given that it was the Adventure genre they were best at, no thanks. And Sierra did not make Lord of the Realms II, Impressions Games did. Sierra only acted as its publisher, they weren't the devs.

Yes I will. Dragon Age is definitely the coolest medieval fantasy universe out there right now. Plus, all the unanswered questions that I'm aching to find out like what the hell is the deal with the primeval thaig? what is the nexus golem talking about "the stone lives beneath Orlais"? What is the Enigma of Kirkwall? What is Flemeth really? Or what about Sandal's creepy omen? Am I going to regret boinking Morrigan to save my own skin?
Interesting choice of wording there.

I would be VERY sad, given how DAII's ending had me biting my nails, I am that eager to know what's going to happen.
My reaction? I'd "congratulate" the haters for successfully killing a franchise they tried to "save". Again. I've seen this happen SO many times.
(And by haters I do not mean those who post constructive criticism. I mean those who openly admit to sabotaging ratings without ever having played it. Who spam 0/10 reviews on Metacritic. Those who belittle, mock and trash the game as well as its supporters in EVERY thread)
Ugh see, and I feel bad as I didn't know a 7 was average. I totally messed up my metacritic rating ( I didn't give it a 0) but it wasn't high enough. That was my first time rating a game ever. I am very embarrassed by that. It say I may post again so I will.
I would be very sad. I like DA and the lore. I see no reason to kill the franchise just because of DA2. Some liked it some didn't (me). And even if I didn't it doesn't mean it didn't have parts that I loved (because it did).
Don't worry too much about it. To me and many others a 6-7 is an average rating. There are FEW games I'd give anything below a 5-6. Only "The Guild II" (If you thought DAII had bugs and issues, try that!) and "Gothic IV" would get such a low rating from me. But that is just me.
Well, thanks, I still feel bad.
LOL! I am very interested in trying other RPGs I have missed ( I am a new fan to the genre). And yeah the 10/10 I woudln't give for DAO either. Oh and the first sign of name calling and I put "no" for helpful review, even I agreed with them. And the ones who think it's great with no name calling get a "yes."

Shh you, they had great titles like Heroquest, Swat series, Half-Life, Homeworld, Kings Quest under their banner even if just published some. If it isn't published, you don't play it so you can't degrade them based off just because they published it.

I do treat is as a standalone game usually. But the main story arch on Thedas sure got interesting in DAII. I'll not abandon the DA franchise.

This. Dragon Age 2 should have been called "Dragon Age: Kirkwall Chronicles", or something, and should have been treated as a spin-off. People probably wouldn't have been nearly as disappointed with it as they are now.

I forgot about HL, they did make a good game, and god bless them for supporting Counter-Strike.
