Will you be sad if DA2 is the final installment of DA in the world of Thedas?

Looking at the amount of lore, it's just nuts the amount of work they putted into it - and the stories told certainly have potential for sequels.

I would just treat DAO as a standalone game, with an ending and look forward to other franchises.
I do treat is as a standalone game usually. But the main story arch on Thedas sure got interesting in DAII. I'll not abandon the DA franchise.
Bit hard to do this for me as in a couple of my plays, Leliana and Zevran were dead and their corpses seem to have reanimated themselves in DA2.

*Sigh* I miss Sierra. Unfortunately I started missing them before they actually closed down...
1996 was a big turning point for them, it seems. Esp. the never ending dev time it took to make GK3 with its constant changes. Truly sad.

Oh, I understand that completely, don't get me wrong. Zev was an import glitch, btw. Patch 1.02 fixed that. Leliana....David Gaider did say some things about that being explained further down the road. But I can understand that if she lost her head in your game, you'll need lotsa convincing.

I have to disagree. The size and complexity of the game world as presented in DA:O lend themselves to a longer run than 3 games to be properly explored. There've just been too many factors introduced for that. There's no reason to limit themselves to three. That being said, there is good reason to look at the DA:O model as something to tweak, rather than replace, in future installments. They really threw the bady out with the bathwater in this one.Turnip Root wrote...
Yes I will be sad but I do think that Dragon Age III should probably be the last game in the series. Having the franchise as a trilogy like Mass Effect would be ideal. After Dragon Age III and Mass Effect 3 I think Bioware should create a new franchise.

But I assume BioWare would come up with something else I'll love just as much.

Sad? Well, yes. But I think they *did* throw out the baby with the bathwater for some very good features of DA:O. What I am sad about is that they really seem to think the baby was just "outdated" and don't even care they just dumped it. Now THAT is sad. They may succeed anyway with some "middle ground" and I hope they do. But frankly, I would rather see nothing about this world, than something worse. I do know I won't pay $60 for something short and hack and slash heavy though. Half that, sure I would

How will you react?
What will you think?
It would really depend on how future installments would turn out.
I really love Thedas as it was originally designed (dark fantasy, semi-realistic look and feel, relatively low magic) but the current direction seems to move away from that and towards a bland, generic high fantasy setting with just some "dark" storylines.
If the current direction continues, then no, I won't be sad at all. I'd rather have fond memories of the setting then see it devolve into some generic D&D-style setting without D&D rules.

This is pretty much how I feel, too. I didn't hate DA2, and I certainly got a lot of mileage out of chatting about the plot on the forums, I just found myself missing DAO. When I read how they intentionally changed DA2 to appeal to hack and slash, it made sense. I'm not sure they care about losing their RPG base, because they made a huge amount of money off of DA2, and that's the bottom line.
I would be sad if they didn't continue the story so that I could find out what happened with the hanging threads, such as Morrigan's spawn, and Sebastian's vow to come back and obliterate me. I love all the lore of Thedas, all the hints of other cultures and events, and want the chance to experience them. I have a feeling that DA2 was a kind of filler, just to move the story along to the civil war after the Blight ended. My hope is that they will return with a game that is richer in scope and gives us more options for our main character. Could be a pipe-dream though.

But since I'm still hoping that DA3 will be a step back towards DA:O, I would be very disappointed.
Thedas is an interesting world I'd like to play rpgs in, but not action-rpgs.

Okay, Dragon Age 2 is not the sequel that many expected (including myself). DAO is a fantastic RPG, DA2 is a good Action Adventure with some RPG flavour. I played 4 playthrough, many gamer here on this forum played also several playthrough, so it cant be so bad.
Maybe we will be surprised with some real good story DLC's for DA2, maybe not. Im pretty sure that there will be a DA 3.

And I would seriously consider ever buying from EA and or Bioware for a good long while.
