@Fiery Wasn't it confirmed that ME3 would have an interactive backstory comic for player who hasn't 'played ME1' and ME2?

In ME3 there is a 'previously on Mass effect' comic so it would show you what you did in ME1 and ME2 or whatever. And if your starting a new game then it makes you have a choice for what you may of done in the previous games. So yes :)

Just how much of the FINAL act of a triology should be dedicated to bringing newcomers up-to-speed? Some of us have been playing Mass Effect for about what, a few years now.. we want to get on with the story and see the results of our decisions from way back in ME1. I don't want to waste 20 hours on "Last week on Mass Effect..." Surely the comic is enough of a synopsis?

No; it will be a comic for both ME1 and ME2.

Did Bioware announce Jenkins or Wilson pre-release in ME1 and 2 respectively? No.
Did they announce Trask before KoTOR? As far as I can remember, no.

Mhairi, Ser Jory, Daveth...
They've done it before.

But they are all from a different universe to mass effect, hell they aren't even in the sci-fi genre, and most are DLC.

Imagine this: ME1 is announced in game informer. It lists some of the possible squadmates as Garrus, Ashley, Wrex and...Jenkins?

But that isn't his only purpose. It is just a part of his character. I agree that the whole "!ast week on mass effect" doesn't appeal to me much either, but you're assuming that is his only role, and he has no backstory or character development.

I'm not even talking about Sanders.. we don't know a thing about him besides his name and a few hints that he will be in the game early on. Any speculation beyond that is just grasping at straws.

Ugh, you make it sound like an episode of 'Lost'. Though I agree on your post

You listed KotOR so I just assumed we were talking Bioware in general.
(Also Jory and Daveth were in the main game and Mhairi was in the expansion -- none were DLC)

And that piece of information would be correct
Besides, Sanders need not be a red-shirt in order to not be an LI, he could simply be already married or something.

Ok, fair play, and as I said, I agree that they shouldn't devote too much of the game to introducing it to newer players/recapping.

All we know about James is he will be the first to join you and will play the role of the introducing figure to ME3. Basically the ME3 equivalent of Kaidan/Ashley and Jacob in ME1 and ME2, respectively.

Expansion is DLC, or at least optional content outside the main game that must be paid for. I shouldn't have said "most" though.
I agree Sanders doesn't have to be an LI, and I was never stating he should, just that he probably isn't a red shirt, but I think given that he's the first new squadmate they've announced that he well might be.

And yes, that information would be correct, but I'm sure people would be dissapointed if they made fan clubs for Jenkins and everything then he doesn't even fire a single shot.

If Kai Leng shows up to assassinate you and fails, goes down on his knees and begs for mercy, and sparing him leads to having him as LI + squad member, then I'll laugh.

fix B)

Based on the one confirmed to be in the game :
Liara / Ashley or Kaiden / Garrus / James Sanders (probably)

Anderson <3:police:
TIM <3:D

I'm totally expecting BioWare to pull another Loghain/Zevran on us in ME3, by the way.

This just in. Harbinger as Love interest in Mass Effect 3. If your a male, he controls a female body. If your a female, he controls a male body. It keeps the same voice either way.

Anyone else think Kai Leng might be the one to shoot TIM if he's in your party? If that Zevran-esq situation happens ofcourse. Just came to me and i could see it happening!

Well, Zevran pretty much did, as did Loghain -- though it depends on how you deal with them.

Zevran wasn't fanatically loyal to the Crows and I'm not seeing Loghain's relevence in this comparison.
