Although as a general rule, when some mystery being is locked in an alternate dimension as a prison, there's probably a good reason for it.

Hmm. Actually, that might have something to do with Kirkwall more than WH. If the Veil is a prison, perhaps the Tevinters were trying to set whatever's trapped there free.

True, this in addition to rule of drama and Sandal's prophecy lead me to hereby predict that the Veil will fall entirely (or at least, have a rather significant hole in it) before the end of things.

That brings to mind how Marethari 'trapped' the demon in herself. What if the Maker had to do the same?. Maybe he had to trap something in the golden city, which contained the evil but tainted the city. And the Tevinters did not actually taint the city but open a portal through which the 'prisoner' could escape. And it maybe fled underneath the earth and is thereby becomming the reason for the blights. So basically to end the blights once and for all you would have to imprison this thing again.Rifneno wrote...

I believe you are not treating this topic with the necessary seriosity.Cutlass Jack wrote...
I believe its where the Kryptonians store their criminals. Luckily the Star Ore baby landed in Origins to help us when they escape.

My God, it's Loghain! Simon Templeman played a Kryptonian villain once named Lord Nor. He wore armor that seemed to consist of a dialup modem glued to part of a tire. I'm not kidding.

Not to worry! If I tear off the Amell family crest from my armor and throw it at him, it will expand into cellophane and wrap him up.
Its true. I do need more seriousity.

The seran wrap crest pissed me off. Seriously, Supes doesn't have enough powers already we have to give him new ones out of the blue? And that was pre-crisis version to boot! Maddening!
Oh yeah, the Fade prison. The stories of the golden city are so old, and of dubious origin to begin with, that I'm not sure there ever was a golden version. Like the lost city of Atlantis. Most scholars today believe Plato just made the whole thing up to try and teach people a lesson about morality. Probably had no idea that 2000 years later people would still be looking for the thing. But indeed, the black city probably is where whatever this thing is is at. I remember when I first read that hype for DA2 saying Hawke would be the most important person yada yada, I thought it meant we'd be going to the black city with him. Alas...

Personally I'm skeptical that they'll ever actually do anything substantial with the Black City. To this point the developers have always been clearly agnostic to the existance of the Maker in the DA universe. For every Chantry sister telling us of the maker there's at least one dwarf and a Qunari telling us it's all bunk. It seems to me that examining the Black City in any detail would force them to answer the question outright, which I don't think they want to do (although if we get to DA6 and they start running out of ideas who knows).
I always assumed that it was actually Gold at some point though. True, it was a long time ago, but it was allegedly during the Tevinter Imperium. The story of how exactly it turned Black might be false, but you would think there would be records detailing that it was in fact Gold at some point.
