Infiltrator reporting in.

Anyone got any tactics they can share? My shep takes damage as though she likes it.
Atm I pull a CoD-esque quick scope thing, get orange for ME1, or red for ME2 then aim and fire almost at the same time, getting back into cover immediately.

thats all i've got :\\

Well, my tactics are quite simple. I start out at long range by one-shotting the weaker enemies with the Mantis/Widow.

Then depending on what I feel like I either snipe the rest (do not quickscope, go for headshots even if it takes longer to aim), or I Cloak and move up to single enemies and shred them with an SMG.

In the beginning, it's useful to have the Locust for long-range since the Mantis isn't quite good enough (at least on insanity). But other SMGs are more fun/better for flanking.

In any case, the easy way to survive is to use Cloak to move from cover to cover and always stay at long range.

Check the sticky for useful guides.  There's an Infiltrator section if you scroll down a bit.

Take big, distracting allies along with you to give you more opportunities to shoot without the scope bouncing from bullet hits on your shield. I find that a team with tali or legion (or both) with combat drones out is very effective at keeping bullets away from your head. Between the drones / ai hacking and cloak you can move about and flank very aggressively with little risk.

Also Grunt likes to stand up and take bullets for you if you don't have Legion.

Neural shock is fantastic for the infiltrator. 1+ point in neural shock and 1 point in ai hacking will allow you to stop any unshielded organic or inorganic in their tracks long enough to allow a leisurely application of lead to their cranium.

Also cryo ammo is so good it feels like cheating. I don't use it because it seems cruel to the poor mooks. Definitely not a way I would like to die, so I don't inflict it on the poor saps.

One thing you have to get used to with infiltrator is the weird way that you scope in when you use a power behind cover with a sniper rifle equipped. Just be patient and wait an extra .75 seconds for your aim to straighten before moving your mouse/thumbstick to follow an enemy, otherwise your aim will jump wildly.

I think that jumpy control thing is for xbox, i've only ever had a glitch where my shep is facing the wrong way and I cant fix it. Usually on suicide mission.
I suppose I do have more tactics than i mentioned. Cryo ammo always on, it keeps me alive in alot of situations. But on higher difficulties it's pointless. I'll give neural shock a try, I've never used it.

If you mean loadout - Kassa Locust, Mantis/inscisor, Phalanx and Arc Launcher (awesome Launcher :P)

The 'quick scope' buisness is more ME1 not 2, But either game, I get torn apart quickly. Im always having to wait an eternity for crayola veins to go away :|

Im always rolling with Geth Shield boost. I only use it in emergencies when im caught in the open or get knocked out of cover by Harbinger.

No offense, but then you are most definitely doing something wrong. In ME1, just max Immunity and keep using it.

In ME2, I certainly understand it. Infiltrators are from what I've seen the squishiest class. Not because they have lower shields/health than everybody else, but because Cloak keeps you from recharging shields.

I played MW2 a lot by the way, and I HATE quickscoping. I can handle getting killed that way, but I can't stand how silly it is having a sniper sprinting around the map instagibbing people in close combat.

Well for ME1 instead of trying to quick scope with the rifle max out your pistol and use master marksman. It is a much better close in weapon. Also get your fitness to master. Immunity is pretty much the defense skill in ME1.

It does pay to use sniper rifles in ME1, but only if they are close to being maxed out. I highly recommend dual Rail Extension VII plus High Explosive X. Just for the fun factor :)

Yeah, ME1 I focused on offensive (commando) build with master marksman for close range and sniper for everything else, interspersed with the odd sabotage/damping...
Similarly for ME2, with the emphasis on offense.

I agree it is a silly mechanic.
But however perverse it is, there's something oddly satisfying about cqc with a sniper rifle.

Quick scoping is stupid in MW2 unless its 1v1 or some hax0r lobby lol.

I was just about to say my ME1 Infiltrator doesnt have immunity, but has barrier then i remembered I am playing vanguard with sniper skill this time LOL

Still, even with immunity and other stuff My shep gets muller fruit cornered in like one hit, with the recharge crap in ME1 for the medigel its straight up annoying.

Cloak was irritating, and considering that it gives pentalties to shields and health regen, cloak should last longer. Jeez bioware. :P
