In my new playthrough I decided to romance Fenris as a mage. I'm in act 2 right now. I did the questioning beliefs quest with fenris and then we slept together, and he eventually left. He was wearing the ribbon on his arm, so I guess that means the romance started. However, Anders eventually showed up to Hawke's mansion and they slept together and I accepted his request to move in. This confused me, because Fenris didn't ask to move in, but I thought the romance with him had started.

Anyway, I wanted to know if sleeping with Anders and letting him move in cancels the Romance with Fenris? I want Hawke to be with Fenris at the end, but I figured flirting with Anders wouldn't cause any problems. I have a save right before Anders shows up at Hawke's place in Act 2, so I can go back and cancel their romance if it will interfere with Fenris later on.

Yes. Moving either Anders or Merrill into Hawke's home permanently ends any other romance.

You can sleep with anyone *before* sleeping with Fenris (but both Merrill and Anders I believe you have to break up when they ask to move in/Hawke suggests they move in) but after he leaves sleeping with anyone else ends his romance.

Thanks! So just to clarify, I can still let Hawke sleep with Anders, but as long as I refuse to let him move in (which seems to end the romance) it will not cancel the romance with Fenris? Or Should I just refuse Anders as soon as he comes into the mansion?

You have to refuse Anders altogether. If you don Anders' velvet hat, even if you say it is a fling afterwards, you're never going to get it off. Anders and Merrill are romantic juggernauts, smashing everything in their way. This is intended behavior.

No. Once Fenris leaves you can't sleep with anyone else or it'll cancel.

It's possible to do it before hand apparently (the only one I managed to sleep with before Fenris was Isabela and I didn't pick a broken heart icon). But afterwards sleeping with anyone else kills his romance.

Just refuse Anders as soon as he comes in. (Best dialogue to me is when he starts badmouthing Fenris, Hawke tells him off if you pick the left broken heart.)

Thanks for the responses. I ended things with Anders at the spot you suggested, Ryzaki. Seemed like the best dialogue choice to do it. Hopefully this will keep things with Fenris on track. However, if it does mess up, is it possible to use the developer console (pc) to make sure the romance flag with Fenris is on?

There should be I'm just not sure which it is.

Don't worry though I've used that choice myself in a Fenris romance. It'll work just fine.

Why is waiting for Anders to get to Hawke's room the only way to tell the poor guy off? Just tell him before he sucks your face off.

Yes!  I go through with that scene every time, just because I love the pouty way that Male Hawke shouts "Don't call him that!"

Kay, wait wait wait.
My friend are both having this problem: Flirt with Fenris, cool. Flirt with Anders ONCE, no big deal, right? Try to flirt with Fenris again, DENIED.
I feel like anything Anders-related is the hugest turn off of the Age for Fenris..... anyone else having this problem? Or do we both have to go back and start our games almost completely over?

I didn't experience this. I flirted with Fenris right after the Danirius bit (love his reaction) and then I flirted with Anders a bit later (after I thought Fenris was impossible to get since I was a mage). However, I ended up getting Fenris as time progressed by strictly refusing to flirt with Anders at all from a certain point forward.

I had that problem Slyther--I had romances going in Act 2 with both Anders and Fenris and could not get Fenris to sleep with Hawke after a Bitter Pill (even after finishing Questioning Beliefs with Fenris and doing Bitter Pill with maximum friendmance selections). I had to kill Anders' romance first.
