From the Official Playstation 3 Magazine:

(Non-bold parts paraphrased so that the thread doesn't get locked, the bold part are the exact words of the article writer.)

What about customization? Customization is back and it is more extensive than ever. However, if you import your Shepard, s/he will keep her/his appearance. (I assume that you will still be able to modify your Shepard from scratch.

Discuss.

You can now wear Uggs as a FemShep.

To me, it sounds like they are implying that Shepard's facial features can be altered.

Hopefully that means more hairstyles, and since we can't tech click on a "edit" button, hopefully we can still enter our character identity codes at the screen and just edit from there, assuming we even get a chance to bring our imported Sheps to customization screen like how lazarus project was in ME2...

The way I read it is: More variety in customizing armor & weapons. Can't change the looks of the imported Shep.

Considering that they mention the imported Shepard in the same sentence, I am positive that they are talking about facial customization. After all weapon customization is mentioned earlier in the article. Several weapon areas, 5 variants per area.

Alright, but we can't change him/her right?

We could in ME2, so why not? Probably a mistake/misunderstanding caused by the article writer.

Lol, yeah could be. Guess we'll find out in about 9 months...

Maybe the misunderstanding was caused by the fact that you'll have to reset Shep's face from scratch if you import, you can't slightly change it.

Guess we'll find out in about 9 months...

Innuendo intended?

I want the Black Emporium's magic mirror. It was very helpful for fixing my poorly designed wonkface.

I too want that lip scar that looked nice combined with a 3 day beard.

...and also sucked as a ME2 mod.

I hope we can alter Shepard's Features again. My main Shep needs a new hairdo.

Won't work well with the helmet. Unless the model is turned to a short hair variant when wearing a helmet.

Just make the model disappear (or replace it with the buzz cut texture) when wearing a helmet. It can't be that hard. Shepard demands fabulous flowing locks.

Yes, better hairstyles, please. I want longer hair for my Femshep and less douchy hair for my ManShep.
