VS is kind of ass, all things considered. Terrible role in ME2, while all other prior ME characters got significant roles (even Wrex had a generous part, and he was fully killable).

They gotta be doing something big for them in ME3.

Who says that humanity even needed a new Spectre after Shepard died? Shepard becoming a Spectre in the first game was merely a stepping stone towards humanity's goal of joining the council. Since they achieved that goal it wouldn't really matter if Shepard died. Think about it.

This sucks... because SPECTRES should be extra ordinary persons.

It's not even confirmed, so just settle down.

Oh I'm not up in flames about it or anything, just adding to the speculation. I didn't see that PS3 article myself, but I doubt it's credibility. I'm not sure why a piece of information as seemingly important as that would be floating around in a PS3 article and not the Gameinformer one.

Only thing is Udina was pushing for more active roles for Humanity in all sections of Citadel affairs.

@PrinceLionheart Well, I never said that the VS would be an insult to the job.

Sorry, that was more directed to the more vocal bashers in the thread. :P

The Renegade "Rise of the Alliance" codex specifically mentions how analysts predict more human Spectre candidates, and if you're still a Spectre and choose the right options when talking to her, that asari who was put on the no fly list will mention she'd heard about more humans being put up for Spectre.  I.e., either way you choose to end ME1, more human Spectres will exist.  They're too much a symbol of Council power for humanity to just say "Nah.  We don't need any of our own in there."

Within that context, it makes sense for Ash/Kaidan to at least be put forward, regardless of whether your personal (and very non-canon, since we have little info on the subject) notions about who does and does not qualify disagree with that. If it makes you feel better, look at it like the Harkin thing: didn't really matter that he wasn't a good cop, or even a good person.  They wanted humans in C-Sec, period.  Well, now they want human Spectres. Plural.

@PrinceLionheart That's okay.

If it is true, I would like to see exactly what the VS has accomplished during the two years Shepard was dead that could possibly lead to them being a Spectre. If the deeds are worthy enough, I will be okay with it, and I will say that the VS has earned it.

I just wish that Garrus could become a Spectre.

look at her left breast in The Game Informer mag and youll see a gray mark that looks like the spectre logo

Edit:Take a look at the mag..not online..the mag...in person

*snip*

I'm fairly sure it says S7, which is a ranking label like N7 for the alliance.

I didn't see anything on the left so I assumed you meant right. Looking at it again, the lighting seems to make the symbol you are talking about but I could be wrong.

Spectre? Sounds like a fanservice to me.
Hmm, doesn't it make them potential Shepard's victims? I don't hate VS, but none of Spectres can meet my renegade Shepard and survive.

By the time ME2 comes around, I think Anderson would have sent Ashley to N7 school. I also think she would have her own team at this stage. I wrote a speculative fanfic on this subject.
http://www.fanfictio...ears_of_the_Sun

I think she would definitely be on Anderson's A-Team, selected for heavy risk missions with high prizes. Whether she's a Spectre or not? I wouldn't object.

I think Anderson, Joker, or TIM would've mentioned it if she did.
I'm not sure Anderson has the authority to send Ash to N7 school he's only a rear admiral in the Alliance.
Plus Ash/Kaidan don't have N7 armor but Shepard does

Rear admirals can do damn near whatever they want. Although Anderson should be a short General of some kind since he was a marine and all. That said generally speaking you don't get ordered to spec ops schools you volunteer for them. Some of the politically motivated stuff can be a trade off; the only way you can make it to X is to go through N school. The big question is if one goes from S (which is probably infantry if this in fact was on Ash's shirt) to N does she go from a 5 back to a 1 or just bumped to a slightly lower rating? Fact is N7 shouldn't be just the school since you can viably put a corporal or even a private through the Army's special forces school or even a Seaman (first enlisted rank for those not in the US) through SEAL school.

As far as Spectre candadicy for the VS no real reason Ash or Kaiden couldn't be picked and tested. Shep seems to be on the more hardcore side of being a Spectre but Nihilus seemed a bit on the mediocre side. Granted I haven't read the second comic series but he's not really mentioned in any of the books. Anderson was also nominated but Saren stabbed him in the back pretty good.

Again, after everything that occured on Horizon?
After learning that Shepard was involved/working with Cerberus, an organization that they regard as an absolute enemy, the Black side to the Alliance's White?
After saying that unlike Shepard, they still knew where their loyalties lay?
After stating that Shepard had changed from who they had known before and calling him/her a trailor to everything they previously stood for to his/her face?

Yeah and in ME3 you aren't working with Cerberus anymore, so what's the problem? Your right they were pissed off at Shepard for working with Cerberus at the time. Doesn't mean they hate Shepard forever though. Pretty sure both Ashley/Kaidan wish you "good luck" before they leave as well. It's real simple: they don't like Cerberus and they don't want to get involved with Cerberus. I wouldn't blame them either. They captured and killed an Alliance Admiral in ME1.

Also it seemed pretty clear to me that either Ashley/Kaidan became very important Special Forces Operatives for the Alliance (Kaidan is the same rank as Shepard and Ashley is the highest rank for an Enlisted), or more likely that they were promoted and made Spectres. Which I'm guessing Anderson helped supervised. The Alliance wouldn't just send one Soldier out into the Terminus systems. They were sent out to Horizon on their own, because they were Spectres acting on behalf of the Alliance/Council.

Unless you have access to some sort of missing cut content from ME2 that no one else has, then you are just creating fictional explanations or plot points that do not exist in the actual game.

Why do you think Anderson didn't tell you about their mission? (Assuming of course you visit Anderson before Horizon. In which case you can grill him about this later.) True I'm speculating once again, but it seems rather painfully obvious this is the case. It's apparent that their mission was regarded as top secret. True maybe Anderson didn't trust you right away either because of Cerberus, but come on. Would you send a regular soldier to investigate the Terminus system by themselves, and more importantly Cerberus? Or would you send a Spectre who are trained to work alone?

Why do you think they can't join you? It's not just because of the Alliance, it's because they're also a Spectre. And a Spectre working with Cerberus is a huge no-no, because the Council regards them as Terrorists.

Think about it. Why does Anderson get a report from Ashley/Kaidan? Ashley/Kaidan aren't under Anderson's direct command anymore (especially if he's a Councillor). How else do you think this happens unless they are Spectres? True in the case Anderson might be an Admiral they could be under his supervision, but I suspect they're more then just an Alliance now.

I'm looking at a high quality scan, the kind that when it zooms in it can't even show all of ash because it zooms in that much, there is no spectre symbol, all your seeing is a zipper, seams, and shine

Here's another thing why would a Spectre wear the symbol of the Spectre's on their uniform. It just wouldn't make sense cause if your doing something undercover which a Spectre is most of the time you'd make yourself standout. Heck I bet the only reason Shepard is known so much as Spectre is cause of the events of ME 1, if Shepard had just been a Spectre and there had been no attack on the Citadel and the rest he/she would just be another Spectre.
