This is how I felt about:

Shepard magically coming back to life through miracle science with absolutely zero in-game repurcussion other than a two-year absence.

Shepard working with Cerberus even though they are ENEMIES.

The Collectors being mindless slaves who are somehow able to perform complex tasks like negotiate with slavers, abduct colonists, chase Shepard, etc. And if the Reapers could control the Collectors directly, why not have them go to the Backwater Podunkville Omicron Relay and let them in the back door.

@clonedzero I didn't say that they aren't qualified. I'm just not completely impressed with their feats so far. If whatever they did during the two years earns them a spot on the Spectre roster and it IS quite impressive, then I'll be fine with it.

Also, throughout ME1, the VS (and Garrus) were mostly in Shepard's shadow.

well my shepards claim to fame was not dying to a thresher maw. thats not exactly super impressive. that could just means he ran faster than the rest of his platoon but its still nothing that'd make someone go "oh he'd be a perfect spectre!"

actually ashley's recruitment is alot like my shepards origin, only survivor of thresher maw attack, only survivor of the edan prime geth attack.

So what you're saying is, as long as Ash/Kai doesn't walk into the Citadel Tower with a resume from 2 or 3 years ago, they ought to do okay in the Spectre interview? I think I can agree with that.

Ashley's the only survivor of the attack that I saw shooting geth. The rest of the survivors I saw were huddled in sardine cans or hiding behind crates.

But that's textbook RW for you, takes one minor inaccuracy in your description and uses it to "refute" the larger point. Witness the "festooned with medals" hyperbole upthread.

@clonedzero But that isn't really impressive. All she did was be the only survivor of her unit. What would be impressive if she, after losing her unit, single handed saved some lives during the attack. I'm not saying she's talentless at ALL, but Eden Prime really isn't the best example.

I would like to point out that Kaidan has a dozen special commendations....Chakwas says so in ME1. Ashley advanced quickly in rank and Gunny Ellison (who even Shepard respects) considers her a good NCO.

I highly doubt any of these kids ever actually had a conversation with Dr. Chakwas. She's OLD.

exactly. my shepard's big acomplishment was NOT dying during a thresher maw attack, how is that any more impressive than not dying to a geth attack?

Ash/Kaiden was busy taking it up the ass by her Alliance superiors. Basically went back to where they were before ME1. Garrus, on the other hand, went off, did his own thing, gathered resources, men, and fought crime. Why the hell isn't he a Spectre????

I'd be seriously scratching my head if kaidan or ashley did turn out to be spectres. Even though they're pretty good, they're by no means good enough for the spectres imo. I would congratulate them ingame though, until the point where they start to boss me around, and then I'd shut them up. Permanently.. (Still haven't forgiven them for basicly calling me a traitor on horizon)

Well, you were a traitor on Horizon. You were dead, then came back to life, therefore you're a traitor to the whole concept of mortality. Oh, and then there's that little detail of showing up in a terrorist ship with terrorist cronies, and even bringing former C-Sec loose cannon Garrus "Archangel" Vakarian along for the ride. Oh and did I mention that you were with terrorists? Because that's a bit of a sticking point with the Alliance. Thought you'd like to know.
