Political investment. That's what I think is the only reason they were even considered to be Spectres, because I don't believe that "they could've gotten better during those two years, herp a derp" crap at all. I think I would've noticed or been told if they did something that spectacular to be worthy of becoming Spectres. Which isn't the case.

Ashly is a career soldier who graduated top of her class and the only reason she wasn't higher up in rank is because of her grandfather. She was the only survivor of her unit on Eden Prime and held off the Geth until Sheperd and Kaiden arrived.
Kaiden is a very powerful Biotic with several commendations who completed JumpZero and has a very level head. Both Ash and or Kaiden fought with Sheperd from Eden Prime all the way to the assault on the Citidel by Saren and helped to save the Galaxy. I doubt Sheperd could have saved the citidel alone. After Sheperd dies a void needed to be filled, and who better to become the next human Spectre than the man or woman who fought alongside the first? All this crap about them not being qualified is just that...crap.

even if she has it ingame thats not the issue here, we're talking about the image in the gameinformer, although if she does have the spectre symbol on her it'll most likely be on her shoulder

Her grandfather is also a reason why she's trying to get this higher rank. She didn't really hold them, she was trying to retreat. Yeas, she is better than others because couldn't do even that.

Kaiden is a very powerful Biotic

Nope. He cannot create singularity.

Nope. He cannot create singularity.

Neither can my vanguard, but he can still use what moves he does have to the best of his ability and in the most eficient ways to kick serious ass.
No reason Kaiden can't do the same

Vanguards are not very powerfull biotics as well. They use combination of biotic abilities, brutal strength and madness. If someone can kick asses and has biotic ablities it doesn't mean that this person is very powerfull biotic.

I'd be seriously scratching my head if kaidan or ashley did turn out to be spectres. Even though they're pretty good, they're by no means good enough for the spectres imo. I would congratulate them ingame though, until the point where they start to boss me around, and then I'd shut them up. Permanently.. (Still haven't forgiven them for basicly calling me a traitor on horizon)

Well, you were a traitor on Horizon. You were dead, then came back to life, therefore you're a traitor to the whole concept of mortality. Oh, and then there's that little detail of showing up in a terrorist ship with terrorist cronies, and even bringing former C-Sec loose cannon Garrus "Archangel" Vakarian along for the ride. Oh and did I mention that you were with terrorists? Because that's a bit of a sticking point with the Alliance. Thought you'd like to know.

In the strict sense of the word.. maybe. But what Shepard did was for the greater good. Besides, we weren't given much choice in joining Cerberus. The reapers (through the collectors) are abducting entire human colonies, nobody, not the council, not even the alliance is doing anything about it. They're all just guessing as to what might have happened and nobody is looking into it. I know they only hit the terminus systems and the alliance wasn´t obligated to help but who betrayed who here?

Shepard went out of his way to join Cerberus (against his will but still) and save those human colonies while the alliance (and the VS) followed up on a silly rumour TIM created, wasting resources and still didn't help the colonies. So yes, Shepard might have betrayed the alliance (even though it wasn't his choice) but I feel the alliance (and the citadel council) betrayed the humanity in ME2.

I could be wrong but doesn't Kaidens L2 implants make him a bit more powerful than the normal biotic?

Well I was more thinking along the lines of knowing how to use the power you have can make you, in a sense, stronger than one who can generate more raw energy, but is brash about it.
But I guess you are right.

Yes, but the keyword here is "normal biotic" a spectre needs to be more than just above average.

Well, I guess the Council and the VS just needed to play ME2, so they would totally understand Shepard's viewpoint.

Here's the thing: Characters is fiction actually do things based on things that THEY experienced directly, not things that the reader/viewer/player is aware of that they don't have direct knowledge of. So "the strict sense of the word" is the only one that's really relevant when discussing the actions of these characters. So Kaidan or Ashley not being able to immediately read Shepard's mind on Horizon, or not getting the memo about the plot of ME2, can't be held against them.

They increase biotic power more than usual L3 implants actually. Natural biotic potential is more important.

I think at least someone would mention their deeds if it made them Spectres.

Spectres are covert operatives, not ambassadors. The fact that Kaidan/Ashleys exploits are so well-concealed is a mark in their FAVOR. Next argument.

As Grunt says: Hmmm...that is...acceptable

If BW is going to make VS a Spectre, they should add some background content to those characters, regarding some heroic/ important stuffs they have done. Otherwise current profile of any VS is not enough for a Spectre.

Loving how the only arguements against Ashle and Kaidan being spectres are:
1.) they'll over rule Shepard (despite adoring Shepard romanced or not)
2.) they're not good enough (despite going on Solo missions assigned by the council)
3.) Horizon (despite sending you an email APOLOGIZING and if not romanced tey'll tell you good luck before reporting back to anderson)
4.) Shepard is the only human allowed to be spectre (get over yourself)

Just be happy they are in 3

I am Happy, happy they'll be spectre's since that'll explain why they were left out of ME2 save for Horizon. Off doing spectre Things. just because you can't handle someone being on your level doens't mean I can't. I'm enjoying two of my favorite characters being given a great role i the final installment of a series.Image IPB

I can see the VSs newly found status as a Spectre making an interesting dynamic in the chain of command aboard the SR3. If Shepard makes a call, and Ash disagrees, she'd try to order your team mates to ignore Shepard's command. The player would have to build up enough experience to put the VS in their place, or confusion over who follows who could do some real damage.

Why the HELL would Ash tell Shepard's team to ignore her? Shepard is the best chance the Galaxy has so no ones going to ignore her and Ashley wouldn't say that. this has to be the most idiotic thing I've read fro a VS hater. Way to set the bar high.Image IPB

It's just a hypothetical possibility. Also, we know that Ash/Kaiden some times get too emotional over things. If a situation came up involving the SB, or Cerberus, or Earth's fate, or other races, Ash/Kaiden would not only likely have a different opinion on how to handle the situation, but the authority to back it up.

Also, I don't really hate the VS. I dislike Kaiden because he's a plank of wood, and I liked Ash up until ME2 where she got completely screwed over as a character (to which I blame Bioware).
