I haven't actually seen the Ashley dialogue yet because I've only played through each game once so far. Shame to hear she still maintains that edge regardless, but I guess given the general fan reaction to the VS cameo on Horizon, I shouldn't be surprised.

People overexaggerate.  It's hardly rabid "RAWR ME HATE ALIENS!" rhetoric. What it is is a line doing double-duty, which Bioware does fairly often: it can be taken to mean one thing if she wasn't encouraged to question her hang-ups, and another if she did.  It's definitely a bit lazy on their part, but nothing much should be read into it.

And what if I don't want their help after their speech of Horizon? Right now I feel Bioware will make me shut up and obey. And I hate it.

Then just leave them on the ship.....it's pretty simple...

And then Mordin or Grunt or Legion(and I'm not even talking about my dear friend Kasumi, because as DLC she never had much chance to become full-time squadmate) get to be a cameo, because the squad is too big and they can't fit everyone in it. Splendid. Just splendid. <_<

So I really hope VS is a Spectre with their own ship, crew and mission at another side of the Galaxy:P

Assumption.  But here's a fact: the Alliance is doing some remodeling on the Normandy in ME3 and it's, to quote, "got some different parts and rooms to explore."

Oh I am sorry poor little VS fans pissed that everyone still does not like what wnet down on horizon .

Actually, I think the VS fans were more pissed about Horizon than anyone else.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

How were the VS fans pissed. Oh is it because they were not squad mates in 2 . I am sorry VS fans got their make up from Bioware regrading 2  by having them in 3 and on the squad . What about us fans who the VS royally pissed off in 2 . Bioware just seems to wash it a way with 3 .

how do you think those of us who romanced them feel? We get called traitors and watch our lover walk out on us because of Cerberus. The we don't even get to see them again! It would be the biggest make up for them to ahve been a spectre while we were dead, explaining why we couldn't go visit them like Liara romancers could. it would also fit the theme that everyone (except Garrus apparently) has gained some position of power with Shepard gone and it would be nice for Shepard to have an EQUAL (even though Kaidan will outrank Shepard if he's alive.) along side them. it would be a "okay we heard you, and here's your fave character back and better than ever" for them to be a Spectre straight form Bioware.Posted Image

If they become part of that out dated idiolgy called the spectres and they get in My way in ME 3 then they will be dead Spectres. I will not have to worry they will be rotting on the Ship the whole time in 3 .  You VS fans got your make up letter from Bioware with them being in 3 so why should you worry about horizon . Its those of us that out right hated what they did on horizon and we had no real way of getting even . Bioware can put them in 3 but that does not mean I have to use them .

If by help you mean sat on the Normandy with their thumb up their ass then yes. They helped allot. Seriously though, Garrus should be a specter. Not VS.

Get over it. I hate some squad members like Jack and Jacob but I would NEVER wish that they were non existent in ME3. If you don't like them then don't talk to them. Hell, Cerberus outright betrays you in ME3 so... they were right. And yes your right, we got a ... ****ing letter. What a load of cow manure argument. That letter wasn't a good thing. It was bad, and I hated it, and I'm sure I speak for all VS fans when I say I hated Horizon too. That isn't a good taste to leave in fans mouths. Let's put this into perspective for you shall we. Say in ME3 Miranda accuses you of being too loyal to the Alliance and leaves you. Then she gives you a nice email and never appears again. Only in picture form at the end. And everyone tells you to deal with it because you got an email.

Hell, we don't even know if that info is legit. It seems like it was written by a 14 year old (PS3 magazine though so hey, you never know) and it shows the Big Ben Sniper for Col. Sanders. That made me question its authenticity.

Assumption.  But here's a fact: the Alliance is doing some remodeling on the Normandy in ME3 and it's, to quote, "got some different parts and rooms to explore."

And there are words of Casey Hudson from GI (page 59) “If everyone from previous games returned as permanent party member, introducing new character would be difficult...And the character selection screen would be a mess. The trick is giving gamers a satisfying payoff to the relationships they've built while managing the roles that each character can play, from cameo to major player. It’ the whole range and it’s different per character. Some characters are going to be absolutely core to the story. They’re squad members. The whole structure of the story kind of pivots around them. Other will be conventional squad members that you can choose to have with you or not… Some characters might be there for just a mission… and some characters might have just cameo appearance.”

And seeing how Ashley, Kaidan and Liara were the only obligatory squadmates in ME1 and how they got removed from the squad in ME2 to make sure that they survive Suicide Mission, I can assume that they are those ‘core characters’. All other characters can be dead by ME3. And seeing how ‘core characters’ are proclaimed to be permanent squad members, it reduces chances of other characters to be on the team. Of course, I can hope that VS turns out to be conventional squad member, but from what I see, it’s highly unlikely.

Also, this quote states two times that some characters are just cameos. And I don’t know how it can be satisfying, especially when it is the final game and there’s zero chance to meet those characters as Shepard again in future games.

I need heavy spoilers on how VS is going to be handled. Because if we railroaded in shaking hands and making peace with VS like nothing happened, I'm not buying that game. The teaspoon of crap turns the jar of honey into jar of crap. And it saddens me, because everything else about the game sounds beyond awesome. But the squad is the most important part of the game for me personally, and if the squad is handled poorly I won't be able to enjoy everything else. I'm character person, that's how I play. I can tolerate the worst gameplay as long as I enjoy characters, but not otherwise. So I’m very sad panda right now.:crying:

I'm also kind of doing a double take at finding out the VS is getting Spectre status. I always thought a Spectre was the best of the best. Kaiden and Ashley were great but they never really stood out as someone that the Council would pick as a Spectre. As far as humans go, I would consider Zaeed and Miranda as Spectres before I even thought of the VS.

I also agree that Garrus does have what it takes to be a Spectre....especially since he is like Shephard's protege.

I just had a random thought regarding this.

Since the councils top spectre was given to cerberus, it's possible that the VS was given the job through the council to find out what the hell shep was up to. (Horizon etc) Upon confirming certain beliefs, the VS was granted spectre rights to follow shep and make sure nothing drastic occured.

Maybe the VS wasnt given spectre status the way shep was, through proving saren rogue and swearing to stop him. I think my thoughts could be a reality. Perhaps?

I'm sorry but this is something I can't agree with. Neither Kaiden or Ashley are good enough to be Spectres. Spectres are supposed to be the best of the best. They are miles behind Shepard, Saren or that asari Spectre.

What have they done to deserve this? If any of them tries to overrule my command n ME3 I will put a bullet in them.

Saren was the greatest and most skilled Spectre in the galaxy... until Shepard was. While Spectres are, indeed, the "best of the best"... they're not all Shepards and Sarens. Those guys are the best of the best of the best. ;)

Though I do think Garrus would have made a better Spectre than either Kaidan or Ashley, Spectres are recruited from the militiaries of the Council races. He hasn't been in the military (or C-Sec) for a long while, he's been doing his own thing or tailing Shepard.

I mean, if the VS is the ONLY human Spectre since Shepard, that's bull.  If they're one of half a dozen, I can see it.

Agreed. Hell, Saren was probably better than Shepard in every way. When they fought one on one, Saren strangled Shepard. The only time Shepard was able to beat him, was when he had two squad mates of exceptional skill with him.

Probably, though he was up to the eyeballs in Reaper tech... so he had a bit of an advantage. ;)

i dont think Shepard was the best spectre. too many more experienced individuals that werent shown. Shep was at the right place at the right time. besides...promoting and having one of his former crewmember investigate HIM for possible treason is risky...with the posibility of remaining loyalty and defection. Spectres have longer leashes than say...N7 would. Spectres answer only to the council, VS answered to the alliance during the while Horizon thing.

I disagree about Shephard being in the right place at the right time. When you first start ME 1 Udina, Anderson, and Hackett are the ones that give your name to the Council for Spectre status. Considering Shephard's record and the way you can play him/her in both games, they would have probably been made a Spectre even if Nihlus wasn't killed on Eden Prime.

I was expecting this since hearing the rumors of a new human spectre somewhere in ME2. Add what Anderson and Tim say about them with the lack of a profile in losb and, to me, it was a sure thing.
I hope it's true, they deserve it.

Got to hand it to Bioware, I think they really succeeded with what they wanted to accomplish with that scene ;)

Funny how such a short and terribly written scene has caused so much hate for these two polarizing characters.

And no, I doubt you will be allowed to put a bullet into their head if that's what you were wondering. Gonna skip on this game now?

Hell if I had that attitude I would not have purchased ME2....and I would have missed out on a very good game.

If I can not kill them then they will rot on the ship .  Those 2 bastards will pay for their actions one way or another.  Oh and if they are the 2 clowns that go and arrest Shepard in 3 . You can bet they will pay a even bigger price for their mistakes . ME 2 they chewed My ass out for no reason now in ME 3 It will be time for pay back.
