They are too beholden to the Alliance to be good Spectres. They won't act on their own accord as a Spectre should, they will ask their Alliance superiors what to do.
And as we saw on Horizon, they lack the investigation skills to learn the truth.
They were investigating the Reapers. Anderson himself said. Besides, Shepard didn’t exactly defend his/her case well. That’s either Shepard’s fault (or more definitely, the fault of the BioWare writing team for that section), not Kaidan and Ashley’s.
good... if there's one thing about Ashley and Kaiden that was annoying was they always felt like spoiled kids, maybe being spectre will sort that out
Spoiled kids? Really? Because surviving a rigorous biotic camp and being blacklisted because of actions your grandfather did really makes you spoiled. Working for the organization that did these things to you also makes you spoiled. Yep. Logical.
One way or another I will get my revenge for their actions on horizon . I might not be able to kill them because in ME 1 I sent Ashley to die and Its bull Sh*t that she is alive in 2. If I can not kill them they will suffer on the Ship simple as that . You think I am a little extreme well here is something to think about . Would you take any one talking sh*t about you and calling you a traitor with out wanting to deal with her in a harsh way . hell no there is no one would stand for that crap.
Glad you hate two characters for really no reason other than Horizon, which isn’t their fault. And yeah, Shepard’s working for a known terrorist organization two years after dying. If I was in the military, went MIA, and showed up working for Al-Qaeda in two years, damn right the military would call me a traitor.
Besides, they apologized for Horizon. They are mature enough and smart enough to try and fix the relationship. Shepard has no option to send them an email, and not only that, you want to kill them. Yes, Shepard is a very mature hero indeed.
These are the reasons they would be good Spectres:
What did Ashley do. form the start - she held off against overwhelming number of Geth, despite not knowing much about them beyond basic high school info. Managed to get a ton of commendation and promoted several times despite her entire family being black listed and eventualy assigned to the Normandy.
what did Kaidan do? come out of the BAAt training a functional human being, one of the few rare stable l2 biotics, multiple commendations, only one rank bellow Shepard despite questionable biotic status (L2's are not exactly trusted by majority of people), personally selected by Anderson (just like Shepard) to serve on a Normandy as a head of Marine detachment.
Shepard isn’t the only person in the universe, nor is he/she the only Spectre. Whether or not Ashley and Kaidan are Spectres in ME3, they deserve it. And they’d be competent at it.
Ashley has the drive, and she would’ve succeeded more had her family not been blacklisted. She kept getting crap assignments because of that. Kaidan had several special commendations. Both fought with Shepard to help save the Citadel. That’s damn impressive for Spectre candidacy.
