as some of you might know, you cant buy EA points to pay for DLC if you live in Russia - it sais that there is "no payment option for your country". being amused by this at best (steam had no problems selling me the game, as probably dozen of online stores all over the world i buy stuff, and not only software, mind you) i wrote a comprehensive support ticket trying to get at least some official response for the state of things, and are there any changes at planned, at least. or may be there is some other solution - like buying gift sertificate at 3rd party store, if EA is so much afraid of card fraud or what not (considering they have EA Russia, it seems rather funny for me), or any other tip i can use.
10 days - no answer outside of robot message that "thank you for your ticket expect answer in 24 ! hours". 10 days, guys, Bioware, really. you are going to publish probably most anticipatet project of the decate - SWTOR, are you really going to do so with EA as a publisher/manager etc? do you really think that kind of tech support is acceptable to a company of your level?
i dont think so. i am dissapointed. i dont like to be so, honestly. could you please give me some information on the topic, please? please?
10 days no response to a ticket - russians are second class customers

There's no reason EA would intentionally try to let you keep your money. There has to be a serious difficulty preventing them from reaping delicious Russian moolah. I am certain they are doing their very best to find a way to part you from your dollars or dollar equivalents.

yea i agree, something on YOUR side, laws or online money problems is whats causing the hangup. You may want to call a local law office and find out if russian laws prohibit that kind fo exchange.

Yeah, as others have said, EA wants your money no matter where you live. If I had to guess, it's most likely it's a Russian legal deal. Have you had problems like this with other similar services?

well you are in russia, so maybe the ticket expects an answer from you?
it could be possible that there are digital distrobution laws they have to get around or information is lsow to get their or any number of logistical issues. for the most part however I think the assume the 24hours for most issues and it may take longer to sort out this specific request.
things tend to move slower in emails to people on the other side of the world ( your sleeping when teh other person is awake sort of thing). maybe it just takes time.

guys, think of it, we had fully working WoW support, allowing us to buy EVERYTHING - name changes, server transfers, while we all played on EU servers. now we have fully localized russian servers, with, again same online trading support.
is Vivendi so much better then EA? and dont you dare talking about EA Russia, unofficial forums are more reliable that our official ones about release dates, places where you can buy the game, and tech support. believe me or not, its NOT on our side, its just poor management from EA.
we still dont have latest patch for Mass Effect because they didnt localized it, we still cant play latest ME DLC because they didnt localize it.
its ok with ME and DA for me, but SWTOR - it bugs me, i love this game, i am SW junkie, i want that game so much - but with this level of support it can be so much pain connected to it ....

Getting the BW credits to buy the DLC is very different from buying DLC in other games/purchasing game services from other games. In those situations you are paying a fee for a direct service, in the situation here you are purchasing 'virtual currency' - some places have problems with this either due to laws or trade regulations :/ (its like how people in Rhode Island can't participate in certain contests due to some sort of strict 'gambling' law)

Actually, I believe it is: In Soviet Russia, the game mods you!
I contacted Bioware almost two weeks ago and have still not received a reply. Since my HiRes mod is going to be covered by a major gaming magazine, I expected them to answer my technical questions, in case I get asked why I could only do half the textures. Looks like you got a faster response than I could, and I live in the same country that Devs do (though I am about 1200 km away).

I don't think you are being discriminated against, EA just doesn't seem like they can be bothered to answer at all.

back in the days while playing WoW i was in EU guild (mostly brits and nordic folks) and we were like n1 guys on our server (those times when there were no wowprogress lol)
so - we had 4 russians in guild, 1 of them my rl friend and one guy we quickly became fellows. one guy was quite alienated from us, he never talked to me and i knew he is russian because that other guy who we befriended told me.
so we are doing a classic 1 percent whipe (no ****) on a Golemagg at like 4 am in the morning. the ventrilo is DEAD silent, people are too exhausted to say ANYTHING. so i take a deep breath and say
guys i have a prob, i need some help. they were like (thinking i am going to leave the raid) oh come on whats the prob
i was like - ok i cant express my feelings in english, i dont have words for what i feel. and they go like - come on do it in your native.
and i, well.. i didnt repeat myself for like 30 seconds, or may be more. you know russian language allow you to do that - swear for 30-40 seconds and never repeat yourself.
in the end audience just blew up with ovation. asking me to repeat etc.
but funniest thing were 2 whisper tells i immediately recieved - one from that fellow guy asking me to shut the fck up because his parents are not asleep yet and his speakers are rather loud, second one from that creepy guy saying ЛОЛ ТЫ РУССКИЙ????!!! (means LOL YOU RUSSIAN?)
he was listening to me talking on vent for a month and never guessed. idk how its possible but, well, thats a true story. i was proud, you bet.

Oh but of course, you didn't get the help you asked for, so that MUST mean EA is racist against Russians, they are doing this on purpose to ****** Russians off. Uh huh,

Never in his post did he mention anything about them being racist against Russians. If want to troll, try harder.
This in my opinion is a legitimate customer complaint. If I havent recieved a response for 10 days I would be pissed and this person came on the forum and calmly talked about his problem.
On topic, this might have something to do with the fact they have seperate department handles these kind of issues/questions and there that department is having logistic problems or simply does not operate with the same standard.
If you want my advice you can proxy your connection through some american or eu server and voila. The only problem with this is if you have bought a localized version then you will most likely need localised DLCs so the DLCs that you buy from US or EU will not for with the RU version. Oh and by the way this might also be the case where the DLC content may have simply not been localised for a Russian version yet, I do not know the situation.

Some comments here are from some... lets call them "not-nice-folks" for now. Many russians who speak english have accent mainly because they never improved it since basic school level. And making misstakes in writing just shows that they didn't learn gramma good enough, many folks from UK and US do misstakes too, so this is not a way to pin-point a russian
(yeah yeah Im packed with grammar misstakes, I don't care)
Now to leagal issues. Russian Internet is pure anarchy, there is litle controll over it what so ever (that explains why Russia is in the top 10 at spaming, virus spread and hacking). So there is no goverment control, thus goverment restricting payments is not an option here (well as long as your transactions do not interest tax service, but this is the same in all countries)
It might be due to EA didn't find a proper contact (bank) in Russia whom they find "reliable" (which is strange due to they could use goverment bank for this matter) and thus its hard for them to make such transactions.
Personally I have no clue
I'm just guessing here. But one way or the other not answering a request is not cool especialy if in auto-reply they said "in 24h time". We can blame it on "too many requests" and such, but still whasn't it that the customer is allways right?
PS: I'm russian too.

well, Klimy, for real, we have fully working massive online project with a lot of online transactions done with little problems - think WoW, again.
why Vivendi can do that EA can not? also why Blizzard support can ask my emails in a matter of week max (and i was involved in full account restoration once, when my was stolen, email changed, and it was before WoW Russia)? i dont understand this, EA is world class publisher with best selling titles, and one of the most anticipated MMORPG of the decade in development - do they really think it can work out like this?
and still not a single response from Bioware stuff here, in this thread, makes me sad panda.
ps oh and ofc title was a bit provocative, i dont think we are second grade customers but i wanted to get some attention. you know, in these days, you have to do it >.>
