1st Mission...save some guys in Afghanistan...so far so good...
2nd Mission...I'm suddenly in the snow and ice in Afghanistan blowing up a Russian fuel Depo and stealing satallite stuff...
Then "you're going to become his best friend"
3rd Mission I'm suddenly in the infamous (controversial) airport mission and those who have played know how it ends...
4th Mission I'm in Brazil...

Seriously, the game is just flailing about wildly with barely any story coherence. Of course I have my theory on the subject...they made a multiplayer game and then threw together a "single player" campaign so they can say it has one...
Was Modern Warfare 2 designed by a schizo ? (SPOILERS)

So what is so 'schizo' about it?

The story doesn't hold together...they just throw you into random environments and you pretty much kill everything.

I was told it was pretty disappointing.

It's only random if you're a total derp, skipping the talking, and overall not paying much attention to the game besides pretty much killing everything.
While I don't defend the game, because I hate Activision (I rented the game), the story does actually make sense and the missions are set up chronologically.

That's because whoever designed the storyline is an idiot. All they did was tie up random levels and then think they could some how bring it together. Bioware on the other hands plans out the whole freaking bible while developing the game so they don't go wrong.

Way to ignore everything I said.

Well... modern counter-terroism warfare requires a high level of mobility and global force projection... So jumping all over the place isn't that odd.

You do realize you're taking the role of different people in different parts of the world, right? You're not always the same character.

True, but it IS a bit odd when it comes to putting together a cohesive storyline.
Not saying its bad, I havn't played the game (simply not interested in giving them $60 for the emasculated PC version) but it is odd.

Many movies do this, I don't understand why people are having such a hard time grasping the concept of a non-linear storyline.

The whole story is messed up and the end is a big (BIG) let down! While it was fun to play and shoot Russians in war torn American suburbia, I definitely got nothing except disappointment out of the campaign.
