Wow, well, you're entitled to your opinion. I just despise the character, and was expressing my satisfaction with, what is in my opinion, his most timely removal from the Normandy.

Can you detail what it is about Jacob that you despise so much? I mean from what I gathered, he always had Shepard's back. Even from the start when Miranda was very hostile towards Shepard, it was Jacob that calmed her down and assured her that Shepard is on point.

The people who like Jacob aren't characters in the game. They can't be cut from anything. Besides, I'm sure all three Jacob fans will fall back in love with the equally boring Kaiden Alenko.

I feel he lacks any depth. He is, imo, a generic paragon of a character. He's a walking, talking PSA, who is strapped firmly onto his moral high horse.

I think Jacob is cool, but his role in Mass Effect 2 - the ambivalent Cerberus guy whose experience is a mirror for Shepard - isn't strictly necessary if in ME3... Shepard isn't working for Cerberus.

I liked Jacob on a philosophical level but with the sexual harassment issues it was imposable to get to know him. So is he coming back as an npc or did he die?

To be fair, almost nothing new was announced in the article, and nothing new will probably be announced for a few more weeks. PSM was just trying to differenciate itself from the GI.

As for Jacob, I hope he's not dropped. I agree that he was a tool. Hell, he was even pretty disrespectful at times, saying sh!t like "Already Shepard? I'm not big on forcing these talks". He could've just said that he needed to get back to work.

That being said, he was a well written character, and if Bioware is only keeping characters who are popular, then the SM is a completely ridiculous aspect of ME2. I hope he and Miranda come back, especially for the Cerberus side plot. Also, I hope Kasumi comes back. She was awesome.

I'm sure some people find watching paint drying to be rather entertaining... much like people find Jacob and interesting character.

The reason he gets so much hate is because he's at interesting as the Vs... but he's the Vs surrounded by Wrex level characters that are each as complex and entertaining as the next. Its not his fault he was pu in a game which had 10 Amazing chracters

That coupled with the fact that he's a plain normal guy who refuses to talk about his past..... well let's just say he doesn't have much going for him.

I really do agree with this. I just cannot bring myself to not dislike Jacob. He's Shepard on Paragon overdrive. If I want a full paragon on my team, it will be Shepard.

Also, I usually play full paragon, so he's extra redundant for me.

However this thread is based around the notion that Jacob has been confirmed to NOT come back at all which is far from the truth because we don't know if he'll be back and if he is back, we don't know in which capacity (Full squad member, 1 mission squad member, or cameo).

I am just tired of this Anti-Jacob hate that has persisted MONTHS BEFORE ME2 CAME OUT so people had not idea about his boring nature or bad romance, yet he continued to be the focus of hate and laughter by this community. It is sickening and really sad when you think about it. Now a year later nothing has changed and it is okay to create Jacob bashing threads and they'll survive for like 5-10 pages before it gets shut down but an anti Tali thread for example wouldn't last beyond 2-3 pages if that.

I've been playing videogames and participating in gaming forums since the late 90s (during the AOL days) and I have NEVER experienced a minor character in a videogame recieve so much.....hate and I use the term in literal sense as people actually HATE Jacob. Kaiden from ME1 and Carth from KOTOR has NEVER recieved even 10% of the HATE that Jacob does and it is very sad and even interesting to say the least. I really makes me wonder....

I agree that this article is hugely speculative, but under the piece for James Sanders it reads that Jacob is not returning. At least it seems that way to me.

I actually quite liked Jacob as a character, though he went on abit too much about living it large on the Citadel once the Collectors are defeated.

The piece for James Sanders also has a picture of Big Ben, who Bioware has said isn't James Sanders. So I'd take it all with a grain of salt, it seems entirely speculative except for the ones that have direct Bioware quotes in it, like "Jack is softer" - that is a pretty clear indication that Jack is in the game in some form. But "he wasn't all that popular and we haven't heard anything so POOF" isn't really evidence.

He's not, the PS3 writer is an ametuer, He's anLI so he won't be left out of the final game. so suck on that.
