Jacob doesn't really get that much hate. Is he unpopular? Yeah, kinda. But not as much as people would expect.
Dont give me that niave crap. Back in late 2009 before ME2 came out Jacob was the only ME2 squadmember to have threads that was dedicated to hating Jacob or either dedicated to making fun of Jacob.
I remember back at the old Bioware forums, a user created a thread about Jacob saying that she found Jacob attractive and will romance him in ME2. Mind you this is BEFORE the game came out so we knew NOTHING about him being "boring" and such. Needless to say, that thread quickly turned into a thread centered around the theme of "How can anyone find Jacob attractive"
Hell, many people even claimed that the OP was a troll and was really a male behind the keyboard because they couldn't understand how anyone would actually want to romance him, especially when you have people like Thane and Garrus that can be romanced.
Even when the first screenshots of Jacob came out people didn't like the visual change that Bioware made to Jacob in comparison to this ME: Galaxy look.
People want to hind behind the fact that Jacob is boring, My shepard was humping Jacob's leg, and Jacob is weak in combat excuse but that doesn't explain why Jacob still had this hate even BEFORE ME2 released. THAT is what I find interesting. But then again, this is the internet and this is the general videogame demographic that I'm trying to argue with so....
