So Hale sounds a bit... umm weird when wanting to talk to Jacob about unofficial stuff. oh.. my... god... the conversations themselves are actually pretty darn good and Jacob is practically the only character on the entire ship that actually has a friendship path closing lines.
Garrus keeps sending my femshep away to calibrate, Tali is doing something to the engines, Mordin threatens failing morale, Miranda apparently is perpetually swamped in paper work, Jack decided that I must want to have sex with her, so she tells me to **** off, Thane keeps calling me Siha without telling me what it means and Jacob? Jacob bro fists me and makes a promise to get drunk on a Citadel.

He just doesn't want Shepard to pry too much into his head, but he's capable, supportive, tells it like it is, he is THE person to speak to if you want to know the ship and crew status (no, not even Kelly - she only tells you if someone got a booboo) and he's actual ya pretty good squadmate, latex suit none withstanding. AND contrary to the bad rep he gets, if you do chose to romance him, he has the best romantic path in ME2 IMO. he is the only one who tells shepard he loves her, to her face, he is the only one who tries to be equal support for her and he has a lovely post suicide mission lines, unlike everyone else.

No, he's not a boring character anymore then Kaidan or Ashley, they are actually more interesting then some of the more popular aliens, if you, you know actually talk to them without humans are boring, OMG priiize/Carth/religious! bias. Poor guy just has a misfortune of being a relatively well adjusted human. sigh.

You've just convinced me to give his romance a shot.  I can alway mute when Shepard talks...

he's also the only one who can break up with her.  twice.

jacob's romance path is unbelievably awesome and he's a really cool character, people just don't give him a chance.

Your simple lack of comprehension is disturbing.

Nowhere in the article mentioned that Jacob is not coming back, it just mentioned that he isn't confirmed to be back along with many other characters.

For all we know Jacob IS in the game and is a squadmate, but Bioware just is not ready to confirm him yet.


I find this rampant hate of Jacob really....interesting to say the least but I'm not going to say anything just yet.

I've never been a huge fan of Jacob myself, however, this rampant hatred of him that I've seen all over the place lately has actually made me start to like him.

I don't hate Jacob, I just find him boring, at least early on. Its kinda like that swamp level in The Witcher. Starts off horrible, but the priiiiiiize.

That and replaying the game a few times you get really tired of hearing his early lines.

I didn't really notice anything wrong or bad about Jacob, until I played as FemShep.

I mean as MaleShep Jacob is just like your Bro and the only person who's like real and straight-up with you. I guess this is why I liked Kaidan in ME1 as well (didn't really notice he was Carth TBH). I liked Kaidan a little better as his temperment is what'd I would want in an XO, which is basically what I saw Kaidan as, being the only other combat Officer. Someone that's calm and rational. Jacob is younger and bit more hot-headed and eager to do things.

First thing that took me back was how FemShep talked to Jacob. I was like "Wow... okay Shepard I know he's a black dude, but damn girl have a little modesty!". Of course not only is FemShep trying to get Jacob to take off his pants everytime she talks to him nicely, but then I noticed how Jacob's reactions were odd about other male crew members. Especially Thane. When I played MaleShep I thought Jacob just didn't like assassins. However as FemShep it seemed apparent Jacob simply didn't like having Mr. Thane around to compete for "the priize".

It was at that point I was like "Oh, now I get it."
