no Dreaman, not everything is gameplay mechanic.

using a barrier as cover is not the relevant part of my argument. The relevant part is that ANYTHING used as cover stops direct biotics and as such the fact those positioned barriers are indeed kinetic shields is irrelevant because they would work that way regardless of what exactly they are.

you guys are like the people that at the movies you dissect every little thing. "well this couldnt happen because of this! SEE im better than the movie because i proved it wrong!"

and im sitting there thinking the whole time "just shut up and enjoy the movie"

point is that now some people CAN'T enjoy the movie because they feel gameplay mechanics have taken away the fun from their classes (mainly the adepts)

but adepts are perfectly fine in ME2. its my second favorite class in fact.

sure they get harder and weaker to play as you ramp up the difficulty entirely because of increased defenses on enemies preventing your biotics. but honestly, biotics were crazy overpowered in ME1. i never felt under powered in ME2. plus warp does damage against defenses so warp spam works wonders.

i really dont see the problem, my ME2 adept playthrough was on either veteran or hardcore i cant remember which but i didn't have a huge problem with it.

i mean hell, play an adept on normal difficulty in ME2 and you'll be wrecking house. if you're only talking about hardcore / insanity difficulties due to the significant rise in defenses, well those are supposed to be hard. they're hard for every class. some have a harder time than others sure, but still.

de gustibus non depsutandum est.

some people like it, a lot of others do not.

I feel Bioware could have upped the difficulty in other ways

Where in the game, in the books, in the lore does it say that the alliance had feild shield that acts as cover? And why did they not use them..... Nothing the alliance had in ME1 is like the geth barrier. Unless you can give me a like that say the alliance had something like the geth barrier, by all means do so ...It still won't defer the fact that the geth barrier in ME1 stops powers and tech powers. You may need to try a different angle.

Lunar base, when getting specialization for your class in ME1.  The same shields that are used by the geth are used by teh alliance.  The geth are the only ones who can pop a field shield in battle.  They tend to do that when fighting out in the open, when there is no cover.  Creating a kinetic barrier isn't new.  Just no one have probably manage to create one at will in battle like the geth.  But you do find kinetic barriers the same as the geth in ME1.

While I like ME2 all of the classes have been made weaker, which bothers me. I loved the first Mass Effect and in my opinion it is the best game ever. I believe it was better than Mass Effect 2. Sure I am not underpowered in ME2, but I liked the nigh omnipotence or my invincible soldier. Basically, to me, ME2 became a shooter first and an RPG second. You could never use your pistol in the first one as an adept and devastate a room, now you are removing a single layer of shield from the enemy. The shooter mechanics have been greatly improved I wholeheartedly agree, but I did not play the first one for the that. Bioware does RPG games, not shooters, I wanted my Space Opera RPG. Some people wanted a challenging shooter, maybe even most people, which is why the game has changed. However, I did not want a shooter at all, nor should anyone be thought less of or criticized for wanting the overpowered biotics back, they were more fun for me and apparently for others too.
