For example the quest I'm about to start with: wayward son
spoilers
Guides have told me that the agreeing with a faction rests on where you tell him to go: mages like the dalish option, templars like the circle option. However I also know that in this quest a Templar has a secret about an abomination daughter. The templars would probably appriciate being told about said templars secret but it seems like a nasty thing to do.
In essence my question is: Does this achievement, and its companion achievement Arcane Defender, rest on the set seven decisions I have seen in various guides? Or do other options invalidate the choices/ count? for example sending feynriel to the circle but keeping thrasks secret = a) templar agreement (1/5) or
Playing through my first time I got the Arcane Defender achievement without trying because I tended to see them as the more moral options. That said I always try to get Samson's templar status back because it seemed best for the mages but the guide tells me its the templar option.
Incedentaly this is the guide I'm using:
ACT I: Side with one faction twice and the other faction once (ex. Mage - 2, Templars - 1)
1. Wayward Son: Mage - Send Feynriel to the Dalish Templar - Send Feynriel to the Circle
2. Act of Mercy: Mage - When speaking with Grace, agree to kill Thrask Templar - Refuse to help Grace
3. Enemies Among Us: Mage - Let Keran stay in the Templars Templar - Get Keran expelled from the Templars
ACT II: Side with the faction that you only sided with once in the Act I quests. You should now have sided with each faction twice. NOTE: Do the 'Night Terrors' quest right before you do the 'Demands of the Qun' quest and IMPORTANT: Make sure you save after completing it.
* 4. Night Terrors: Mage - Encourage Feynriel to control his abilities Templar - Turn Feynriel Tranquil
ACT III: Side with the same faction for all three quests. This should unlock the achievement for one side. Then simply reload your save game after the Night Terrors quest and do the same for the other faction to get both of these achievements in one playthrough.
5. Showdown: Not exactly a quest, but during the opening cutscenese of Act III, after finishing defeating the Arishok for Demands of the Qun, select the following dialogue options: Mage - "Orsino is right". Templar - "Meredith is right".
6. On the Loose: When speaking to Emile in the Hanged Man Inn: Mage - "I could let you go" or Templar - "Turn yourself in"
7. Best Served Cold: Mage - Select "Kill them all" when speaking with Cullen Templar - Select "Give Samson another chance"

So basically does the achievement rest on these specific decisions or are there any other factors.
Thanks
