Effect 2 DLC on the Xbox 360. When I first purchased Mass Effect
2 I redeemed and downloaded the Cerberus Network, the associated free content
(i.e. Zaeed - The Price of Revenge, Cerberus Weapon and Armor, Normandy Crash
Site DLC ), and several in-game items through promotional codes. I redeemed
codes for, and downloaded: the Collector's Weapon and Armor, the Terminus Armor
and Weapon, the Inferno Armor, and several helmets through a Dr. Pepper promotional.
Everything worked well – I downloaded online and could play the content
offline. For a variety of reasons I have switched Xbox consoles over the past
year twice and have switched my copy of Mass Effect 2 once. I have kept the
same gamertag and Xbox 360 hard drive since first purchasing Mass Effect 2.
When I first switched Xbox’s and game copies, I re-downloaded the DLC that I
had had on the first Xbox in order to update the data rights management onto my
new console. I also purchased two new DLC packages. After that, I found that when playing
offline, all of the content I had downloaded on my previous Xbox with my
previous disc, was considered “corrupted and cannot be used.” However, the same
content would work if I was logged in online. Furthermore, the new content I
downloaded (with the new Xbox and game copy) would work offline. I accepted
this issue as an acceptable annoyance and played Mass Effect 2 while logged in
online in order to use the DLC. However, in the past week I have again switched
Xbox consoles (while keeping the same copy of Mass Effect 2). I continued to
have issues with only being able to play the DLC while logged in. Yesterday I
attempted to contact EA customer support via online chat, in an attempt to
resolve the issue. The customer rep claimed that he “manually added Cerberus
network to my account. Which I find confusing due to the fact that I could
still log onto Cerberus network with my new Xbox and new game copy (I could
also view my downloaded DLC on Cerberus Network). Also, I was informed that
there was “no problem,” in order to use the DLC I must be logged in online.
This answer is also questionable. There is no mention of needing to be online
to use the DLC in the terms of use agreement associated with the content,
furthermore I was able to use the DLC offline in the past, and I could
currently use some, but not all, of my DLC while offline (the DLC I purchased
with my new Xbox and game copy). I was even more confused when I recently
logged in to Cerberus network and discovered that my promotional DLC (this DLC
includes: Collectors Weapon and Armor, Terminus Weapon and Armor, Inferno
Armor, Dr. Pepper Promotional Helmets, and Blood Dragon Armor), obtained with
redeemable codes, was no longer associated with my account. Why is this? And
why can I no longer play my DLC offline? What can I do about it?
