bit of a late comer to mass effect.

just finished me1, started me2, imported character ok.
appearance, level, history.
but,
effect 2 has started at level 1.
was under the impression that when you import a profile from first game, you start at a higher level than you would starting from scratch.

am i missing something?

You should be higher level, but not much. My soldier was lvl 50 and he only started at lvl 3. You should also get bonus starting cash and resources, aswell as paragon/renegade bonus. If you're not getting any of those things that's a problem.

aah. thanks for the reply. old profile was only level 40, but thought i should have started at least a wee bit higher than level 1.
does changing from vanguard to engineer make a difference?
maybe i should just start over.

The max level you can get from importing a character is level 6 which you get with a level 60 import. Changing your class won't change anything about the imported game.

(BonusMinLevel=1,BonusMaxLevel=49,XPBonus=1000,CreditsBonus=20000,ResourceBonus=2500)

so your character should have 1000XP
