If she returns, then as a female dwarf please! And as a LI! The dwarves need love too! They ignored the poor Sigrun already.
But the drawing of Shale in Varric's book is her in Golem form.....

Sandal will be the dwarven LI in DA3.
Meh... pillow talk with Sandal would be pretty monotonous.

Even Golems need some love. The Captain Kirk in me demands that I don't deny her that.

If you've at any point had Captain Kirk in you, I'd reccomend getting yourself tested.

Just because there is a drawing of a golem doesn't mean she is still a golem. It could just be a before picture or something.
I doubt Shale turned back into a Dwarf would be a pretty sight considering her body had molten Lyrium poured on it in the Golem making process.

On topic though, I dont think we'll see shale again. Just a gut feeling really, but I think her story isn't going to be picked up again by the writers any time soon

That being said I don't think she's coming back since she's technically a DLC character and a lot of people won't have her... (she's super awesome though)

Cannot stand the dl character Sebastion - sanctimonious and useless toon.
Varrick is the only rogue the team needs the entire game.
Shale on the other hand was one of the coolest and funniest companions of any bioware game in my humble opinion.

Is the golem on Cassandra's book (ending scene) really Shale? Actually what's that book supposed to represent? I saw Morrigan and Flemeth so if the golem is Shale, maybe she plays a part in the future too?

That book is the story of the champion, Varric is captured 3 years(I think) after act 3, plenty of time for DLC events and an expansion to occur.
If it isn't Shale then Bioware is going to have to introduce a new golem that has been shrunk to roughly human size, had crystals embedded into it and has a vendetta against birds everywhere.
As for the DLC character thing, they have proven with Garrus in ME3 that they're willing to utterly exclude party members thanks to past decisions in other games.
Also, they could simply retcon it so that everybody recruited Shale if they felt inclined to do so.

Its definitely Shale - the crystals sticking out her back and the dead bird trail give her away, bless her bird squishing ways.
As she's in a book about Hawke, I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up in DLC or DA3.

Thank you for taking the time to get a picture of an image that is only visible for a fraction of a second.

Oh I can't take credit, I bookmarked the image and stole it from a thread posted by a more noble soul around a month ago

At any rate, I assume golem lore will be relevant to future games. So there's no reason not to whip out the Shale card when needed.
As for her not having been recruited by some people, it doesn't matter: she's not dead. They can just write her into meeting your character in Dragon Age whatever.
