I like how all you do is monitor threads and ban people instead of actually partaking in conversations. If I remember correctly, these forums were brought online because the devs had a general interest in communicating with their fans. Now its "do as I say or be banned".

Thanks Bioware mods, you make these forums so much fun for us all Image IPBImage IPB

Really? I mean... really, Iwasdrunkbro?

Look below for plenty of all  woo's conversation partaking. Pacifien pipes in plenty of times. Javier has done plenty of topics in ME the last couple weeks.

Whatchu talkin bout', willis?

They mostly talk to us when they're bigging up a new release, like how often they were here for the DA2 build up.

as for the other mods, they certainly do partake. Woo and Pacifen plenty of times in this section.

I dont think ive ever seen an unfair closing of threads or banning

About 60% of the time, yes, that's what they do - they're moderators, after all. Though it's very easy to think that's what their sole responses are initially. I don't know what else to tell ya, other than PM one of the moderators or something for a more detailed answer.

I think that says more about you and the topics you participate in than it says about Woo. Also, mods =/= devs.

Mods can take conversation but they don't talk to fans about how they intend to build games... CAUSE THEY DON'T MAKE THEM!

*DEVS* are the fine lads taking their soul and passion talking to hordes of mindless monsters called "fans" which usually are not happy. Despite oddly having a situation like "Dammit, this game is perfect, but I must still attack the developers to make the next one even better!" ... which is actually senseless.

Mods are the police, devs are the rulers, sovereigns, emperors, whatever.
Mods enforce the law through thread locks and bans. And pardon my manners, but you think their job is easy, being in 10 at best against 2 million or so members? You think they just enjoy locking threads and banning for their own amusement?
I'll give you a hint - show some respect and some appreciation for their work. Same for the developers that kindly try to answer the questions of fans.

Stanley Woo is a god among us mere mortal men! How dare you blaspheme his good name you dirty communists!

@Namira, you bet their too lenient at times. Stanley has banned me probably about ten separate times, and I'm still here. On the Bungie forums I posted in a thread about thongs and I get a permaban from Bungie. Their strict typewads over there.

Ironically this topic will likely get locked by one of the mods anyway, but to the OP the mods do participate in some topics but not all of them and seeing as their job is 'moderating' then it's likely what they're for most of their time online here.

P.S Also the Woo is a volus again, so fear the biotic god.

Gee, are you talking about moderators or developers? Because they are genuinely two different things. Not all moderators are developers. So if, say, you wanted to communicate with the likes of Selene Moonsong or javierabegazo about how the development process is going, I mean, they might deem you worthy of their time, but it'd be like discussing something with your average forumite.

Or maybe you just mean the developers. In which case, have you even participated in a conversation that they have any interest in? Like I bet if you wanted to talk about cinematics in a game, John Epler would be right in there. Or if you wanted to discuss a capella singing, maybe Woo will speak up. Oh, but I guess you want them only to discuss the games with you. And you personally. Because they have discussed the games, but apparently you missed it all.

I will say from personal experience that moderating can easily take up all of a moderator's time on these forums. A volunteer moderator decides they have an hour to spare for the forums and are met with a troll who has filled 4 pages worth of a forum with spam. And there's a flamewar going on. Insults being passed around. Before you know it, your hour has passed and all you did was moderate. I suppose it's the moderator's fault for not allocating two hours of their life to allow them some time to converse with you. And you personally.

I will also say from personal experience that sometimes moderators do more than just moderate. But you missed it all because they did not personally want to discuss anything with you.

OP, the mods here are completely made of awesome sauce. They seem to their jobs fairly well. My only thing about it. Is that they don't seem to be here often and they are not always able to deal with every issue.

To any mods reading this topic: Can I be a volunteer moderator? I am here almost 24/7, and I am just about EVERYWHERE.

If you have to ask to be a volunteer moderator, you won't be asked to be a volunteer moderator.

Didn't you mention before that BioWare essentially asks you to join as a moderator, should they so choose? Or something along those lines. It isn't exactly something you apply for...

You have to be an outstanding member of the community to be asked to be a mod.

I sent enough PMs to the moderators about things that needed to be moderated, I'm sure part of the reason why I was asked was to cut out the middleman.

It's probably not betraying the secret society of moderators to say the number of people who help moderators moderate is countable on one hand.
