Sure, someone can ask to be a mod all they want but if they ask in a public thread and have quite the record of trolling and being offensive, people are going to call that person out on that.  I think it's already been stated though that volunteer mods are chosen because they have a clean record as well as a history of reporting troubling threads to existing moderators.

To add on to that it's more of a 'The type of person we want to be a mod is the type of person who doesn't want to be a mod'  or to apply to more broadly 'Those who want power, deserve it the least, those who don't want power deserve it the most."

Oh, I haven't been saying anything about it being boring. People have asked me why I quit. I've told them all that it's because the **** isn't worth it. It's not. It's not worth it to be made to feel like crap for something you're volunteering to do.

I also think people need to lay off Ramirez because, while he and I have had our differences, getting on his case in this thread does come across as a bit of a witch hunt.

I don't blame you for quitting Pac. You couldn't pay me to be a volunteer moderator. Talk about a thankless task. Especially in communities like this one.
