I dont think I have seen this mentioned anywhere, but maybe I missed it, maybe im lazy.

Is there a limit to the amount of times you can use the items you get from the CE or the pre-orders? Is it a situation where you log in and you automatically have everything on each toon you create, or do you need to claim it on a specific toon and never get that item again?

Please advise.

The items seem to be linked to your account (EA account, the one you use on this site, etc.) and are obtained by logging into your account within the game. I assume this works like with the Character Creator and this is also how we obtain our DLC I believe.

The items, according to one of the developers (cannot find the quote on this, sorry) will be available for each new game you start. For example, if you start a game and use the tome that comes with the Memory Ring to learn a new skill and then start a new game the Memory Ring and its accompanying tome will be present again.

Higher-end items will need to be found or purchased and many are supposedly bought for a very reasonable price (much lower than what their stats would indicate they should cost).

Which items are you refering to in this part?

I was only talking about the bonus items you get from the CE, CC, DA:J, and pre-orders. Are any of these items what you are refering to in reguards to buying or finding the items?

The blood dragon armor, specifically, need to be purchased in pieces, I believe.

Final Reason, a staff which is available with the CE will be able to be purchased IG, if I recall, but at an extremely reduced cost compared to what it stats actually offer.

Blood Dragon Armor, like Joel mentioned, I believe has to be acquired in pieces. I've heard you start with one piece and the others must be acquired, but I really have no idea beyond that. Could have been a rumor or it could be true. I am skeptical that we will begin a new game with it since it seems quite powerful.

Specific retailer bonus items, like the Feral Wolf Charm I have on idea about. I can only assume we recieve the items from DA: J when we start a new game, but you know what they say about assuming. Posted Image

You can get 3 items via DA:J. You can get a resist neck, a resist ring, and a tanking helm. In order to get them all you will need to play it three times, however. It only takes like an hour each play through, on the up side.

Yea, DA:J and other earned items seem to have different uses. I've read similar where the higher end unlockables are implemented as quests in the game you can partake in while rings with the preorder are basically given at some point once unlocked. I could be completely wrong, but it's what I've read.

The Amulet of the War Mage actually adds +5% to damage, not resist. I've seen a lot of people miss this and I almost did myself till I did a triple-take.

The Memory Ring we do start with, if I recall correctly and I believe the same is true for the Lucky Stone.

I like the idea of adding quests to obtain your bonus items. It adds content and flavor.

Very cool. I had been ignoring the whole DA:J thing, but now I'll give it a play. Thanks for the heads up.

Yep.
So that's
3 items from DA:J
1 Ring from Uploading your character to this site
Preorder Bonuses (If any)
Blood Dragon armor (attained in game)

Quite a haul, I think.

And the three items from the CE, if your buying that.

So thats between 9 and 11 items, depending where you pre-order.

Where do you get your information? I'm just curious how you know about Final Reason being purchased IG. Knowledge is only usefull when it is used.

Bioware's web 2.0 approach laced with other smart marketing campaigns are quite inspiring. Remember how awesome Lunar: SSSC was when you got so much with your game? This is similar! Also, to encourage sales, they have books and ways of unlocking items in game to keep whetting your appetite in anticipation. The site itself is even designed in a way to encourage video usage with keyword density placed around promotions. I'd be interested to see how this affects other companies, really. Bethesda set a new standard for DLC and Bioware may be setting a standard for pre-video game sale marketing.
