I couldn't bind mouse forward or backward button, you couldn't see your ping in the game and you couldn't type messages in the co-op mode either. Not to mention the horrible web-based server browser interface.
Thank God I only paid $28 for it.

The co-op is only for 2 players or I'm too stupid to find the 4 player option?
The multiplayer is battlefield... but still there are some improvements they should make... snipers are still too unbalanced... in a map there was one in an unreachable tower (probably got there jumping from a plane) killing everyone.... in Caspian Border, snipers in the antenna could kill anyone in the forest... and so on....

I'm enjoying it even though I suck. I wonder when game developers will quit throwing crap on the 'screen' in FPS games? All it does is obscure the enemy, and unless I happen to have a monitor for a head, I don't think it makes things more realistic.

It'll take a few days or a week to get things on track, if they're up to their par.

What are people getting for FPS? I'm not getting much over 40, despite lowering the settings to medium. I've got a quad core and ATI 4670...pretty meager I guess.

I've got an AMD Phenom II quad core and a single 5770 and I'm running it at 1920x1080, with everything on high with some Ultra and its fairly stable at around 30 fps, dipping into the 20s rarely. My card is overclocked a bit, but I've been surprised with how well its been running and looking.
The one really annoying thing is the dust/dirt effect thing they do quite a bit. Its ok when you're wearing a visor or gas mask to have stuff like water droplets show on the screen, but its annoying more often than not. Same with all the lens flare- its like you're not looking through somebody's eyes but from behind a camera lens.

I'm surprised you can even run it on medium with that card, though it depends on the resolution.slimgrin wrote...

I'm doing quite well at 1080p on high with an OC 460... but it visibly dips with smoke effects.
Anybody know how to control the EOD bot on PC? It's not anywhere in the keybindings, and manual... what manual!?
Heh. That's why they took the ladder out! You need to do some serious tricks to get up there now.DiegoProgMetal wrote...

I was playing earlier today and things were definitely jumping around. Reminded me of when I played the Crysis 2 demo. I was under the impression that EA had great servers so I was expecting Gears of War 3esque smoothness. There was a point where I couldn't even get online as well.LPPrince wrote...
I'm more annoyed by the servers being wonky, as we all knew they'd be.

That's the whole point of it. It is supposed to be like looking through a pair of goggles which your character wears.

6 hours later everyone had finished the Campaign.
Multiplayer still sucked because of crappy netcode and too many Hax0rs.
The Game was dead by NewYears.
EA did not care.

Every Battlefield game is released as a buggy mess. It's a DICE tradition, doesn't mean it won't be successful.

My feelings on the game are exceptionally mixed. It seems to have as many spectacular moments as it does boring/mundane, most of which create the feeling of deja vu from previous military shooters. Some specific missions(like gone hunting) put in a serious level of work for immersion's sake, and it paid off significantly.
Audio and Video are the foundational pillars of Battlefield 3. Audio is absolutely slick - the soundtrack has a strange industrial vibe that chimes in at the appropriate times, and leaves the sound effects/ambiance to take over for the vast majority of the game. The new frostbite engine looks pretty great on PS3. Not gamegasm-good, but they did a hell of a lot with what they had. Explosions, lighting, and other particle effects add a serious level of atmosphere that the competition may not have as strong a focus on.
Now's a good time for the gripes, so let's get that over with. The level of interaction outside of "shoot that guy in the head" doesn't deviate often enough to remove the taste of repetition. Though I will say the vehicle-based missions are a much needed boost for the title. The AI(both friend and foe) have a bizarre range in difficulty that can ignore an enemy right in front of them, or shoot with absurd accuracy and speed. The QTEs are not a great idea. It has the same issue the original 2 God of War games had: The icon is so obtrusive in the middle of the screen instead of at the side during the cinematic, that I found myself waiting for it to appear instead of actually paying attention to the fight itself. Rappeling down a wall by pressing X every 3 seconds is not great design.
The Story is told well from mission to mission, though some specific plot points become obvious several times. It's far better than past iterations, though feels slightly behind par from MW's current scenarios.
My personal take? If you're a die hard military shooter fan, you're probably going to enjoy it, so go ahead and pick it up. If you're looking for the game of the year, wait for MW3 and then decide. BF3 manages an 8 to me, but that has more to do with overall presentation, and less to do with...well, the game. It was alright, but at least in terms of single player, it didn't change my life.

well ... different approaches to gameplay then. I don't personally like the "run-and-gun" approach that is so prevalent in other shooters. I find that boring and annoying .. no real tactical skill and teamplay involved at all. At least with BF it is more of a "defending a position" approach and that includes sniping.

Yeah, sure personal taste matters... But I'm not talking about an assault mode only... every class have it's importance to the fun, including a Recon/Sniper... the only thing I don't like is this way too unbalanced power they give to snipers If only they had a harder time at aiming would be enough... When I play, I stick to engineer (do the same in ME) or sometimes I like to choose one different class everytime I die/re-spawn, and as an engineer I often use a shotgun for close ranged combat... But dude, they really put an extra effort to the low range with shotguns.... Anyone beyond 10 yards is almost unbeatable... Sometimes I shoot someone 4 or 5 times, then the guy kills me with a single shot. When the kill cam shows who killed me, his energy is almost untouched, if not at 100%. There is weapons available for longer ranges, but my point is, sniper rifles are way beyond the believable range... And snipers killing you as soon as you re-spawn is very frustrating. So most of the time I stick to other tasks than killing, like conquesting/securing locations, or destroying aircrafts.
Ok, done with the MP complaints... About the game, very nice... A few bugs yet... As DominusVita said, sometimes your squad passes by the side of an enemy and neither seems to care to each other, while the enemies always now exactly where you are as soon as any part of your body gets into their possible line of sight. SPOILERS : SPOILERS -> When you are playing as Dima, and you are tasked to go through a pipe to flank the enemies. Even if your enemies are distracted by your squad shooting at them, they will know where you are as soon as you "move your head" enough to see them. I mean, you sneak through a sewer pipe to flank them, bullets are crossing over their heads, and their "spider sense" tells them there is a Russian commando in a place they probably can't see?!? But when your squad is right by their side, both your friends and enemies turn blind???
And the mission Gone Hunting is breathtaking. I played with my headset, I'm a musician, and I have a very good one, with cristal clear treble and deep powerfull basses that I use as monitor at the stage... Dude, when the jet took off, I went backwards in my chair and said WOW
Ok, out to lunch.

In how many occasion I was like -It's that someone or shadow? than getting shot down by some 'leet' dood that spoted me on the fly from the other side of the bush(With no spot enable) .. In Quake 3 arena player would disabled the 'great' stuff so they could more easily spot ennemy. I hope it's won't be like that. SOme server should be locked on high /Ultra.
Hell Some tank basically shot me down from the other side of the map because I was spotted. I hate this feature.
Some map suck also and my favorite and the best map is without any doubt Caspian Border.
It's also impossible to stay alive more than 3 minutes on the choppa. On a plane you might last more than 3 minutes .Of course you can stay alive much longer if you unlock flares or fly 50,000 ft in the sky. But it's a pain in the ass.
Most of the time I don't even have the time to blink with 100 heat seeking missile trying to **** me up.
AA gun suck also . Plane need to be super close or you need to be extremely lucky.
They should use AA gun from 1942 .. More effective.
The game is not perfect but I love it. Good thing that K/D don't really matter for point.
'I have spotted an ennemy sniper'
- Soldier - Thanks I see him!! In the bush proning down 5 KM away!
You should lose the spot when they're not anymore visible. I had a tank tracking me down through 4 building because he could see through the wall.

I'm with you. Don't like the fast paced run-n-gun arcady military shooters. Even a game like this is too twitchy for me. Thats why i stick with Bohemia's games and games like Ghost Recon 1, Rainbow 6 (Raven Shield and earlier titles only) After that they ruined them and turned them arcady too.FDrage wrote...

The first Metro Rush map was horrible with all the snipe-camping, but I think they put that in beta so we'd all get sick of it and never play there again (actually, Metro Conquest is even worse).
