Call me crazy, but just as you do with Miranda, she tells you about her daddy issues and goes on and on about how perfect she was made to be. Who is she trying to convince, you or herself? You don't hear anything like that from Jacob. He tells you the issues about his father with straight facts without trying to grab at the air for sympathy like Miranda does, and yet everyone is ok with that, but the world is about to end when it comes to Jacob?
Right.

There's a difference between complaining about everything and complaining about something.
Jacob complains about every topic he speaks about.

Totally not surprised at this kind of thinking about Jacob. Saying that Jacob has "Daddy issues" is one of the most IGNORANT and shallowminded statements I have ever read. You have just insulted every single child in this world who are going through parental issues like this. There are people in REAL life who have issues with their fathers be it not having one because of A: He's a deadbeat, B: He is in prison, or C: He's dead. So, basically, you are saying that anyone with these issues are of no concern and need to "get over it" because those kinds of problems are not worth caring about or even showing compassion for. That is what you ignorant statement screamed to me and the fact that you said this about the ONE BLACK playable character in the game shows me who you really are on the other side of that computer.
So, tell me. Would Jacob have been more easier to relate to if he was a black stereotype:
1: Troubled kid with no father and disobediant to his mother.
2: Got caught up with gangs and drugs, which influenced him to drop out of school at a young age so that when he speaks, he sounds like a uneducated ****** with a personality 15 year old?
3: And last, but not least, he complains about not getting ahead in life due to others in high power keeping him down?
Would that have satisfied you? Sometimes I cannot believe what comes out of people's mouths. Did you even give him a chance to understand his character?

LOLWUT!?
1. I have issues with my OWN father. I'm not calling him boring because he has them.
2. I'm not black, but I am of mixed race and I've dealt with racism. And at no point in my post did I mention his skin color. So don't play the victim and make this look like I'm turning it into a race issue.
3. What does him being the absolute most boring character in the series(in my opinion, of course) have to do with his daddy issues or him being "the ONLY BLACK playable character in the game"?
Hahaha
He's boring(again, in my opinion) because there's NOTHING to him. He just stands there. He's a brick wall. A stick. A footnote. He's LAAAAME.
Kaidan also just stood there, being lame for friggen ever, until I realized "Jesus Christ, this guy is actually pretty interesting".
I gave Jacob that chance. Multiple times. He sucks.
I don't use him in combat(he's useless to my Vanguard), I don't take him anywhere(not fun to bring around), and while I'm always friendly with him(out of courtesy), he's irked me a few times(his incidents with Tali and Thane).
How does ANY of that have to do with him being black? That is completely irrelevant.
As for his daddy issues, I'd probably find it more interesting if half our squad didn't have similar issues. Only their's was vastly more interesting(Tali's, Thane's, Miranda's).
So in my opinion, Jacob is completely inferior to Kaidan. End of story.
You can disagree, and your opinion is as valid as my own as well as anyone and everyone else's.
But DO NOT try to turn this into a race issue when its clearly not.

I have to laugh at this. That was all she was doing. Complaining about her father making her pefect and how she needs to save her sister. I got sick of it. She is the ONLY one who went on and on about her problems when everyone else informed you of what happened and asked you for help and left it at that.
I swear, I think we must have been playing 2 different games.

Yes she complains about her father and she complains about her modifications. She doesn't complain about Cerberus, she doesn't complain about squad members, she doesn't complain about lack of recognition.
When Kelly tells you Jacob wants to talk to you, the first thing he tells you is that he doesn't really want to talk about it. Then ge goes on to talk about it. He complains about the way his father raised him, about his father leaving, about the alliance not recognizing what he did, about cerberus being shady, about not being good enough for miranda, about being told about his father, about thane.
That's a much longer list than "father" and "genetic enhancements".

I was expecting your response to be just like this and I am too above this to answer with the full interntion that I was going to. Feelings would have gotten hurt. and it would have been pointless as like you said, my opinion is valid just as much as it is yours. But, If you can't see how ignorant your statement was, I refuse to try to show it to you. And his skin color does play a part in this. People have been complaining about how black male characters are so stereotypically designed, but just as soon as we get a character that ISN'T stereotypically design, we complain about how boring he is. It's a double standard to me and proves that you can't satisfy anybody.
Yes, I disagree with you because I can see that you have a hard time seeing the big picture in depth and no offense, I don't by that "I'm of mix race" statement. I can't see your face to confirm that. So, I'll just take that a copout because you have nothing else to come at me with. So, you can disagree with me as well when I say that your statement about "daddy issues" made you sound ignorant. Sorry!

So because he's black and doesn't match the stereotype, you either have to like him or you're a racist? Honestly you're not leaving a whole lot of other options. I'm white as can be, but I'm not a racist. I have immense respect for a lot of black people that mostly don't fit the stereo type.

Can't you for once just make an argument without trying to patronize someone? Just once maybe?
1] Jack came to Miranda's room (for whatever reason), Miranda did not seek out that argument. Miranda pointed out it was a rogue cell- not Cerberus. She also did not complain in this confrontation.
2] Miranda asks if maybe Jack should be kept in a cell, and even if you like Jack you would probably agree that Jack isn't very stable- and might well do damage to the ship.
3] Miranda is cautious about Grunt and Legion, however she does not complain. She does point out that Cerberus would offer a substantial reward for them. Again, Miranda does not complain on these topics. And honestly, Jacob is actually a lot less level headed about these topics, suggesting to throw legion out the nearest airlock.

How does him not fitting a stereotype make him boring? I would've HATED it if he fit the thuggish stereotype that many people place on African Americans. Him fitting no stereotype is refreshing. Unfortunately though, he's tasteless compared to the flavorful personalities surrounding him. Hell, he shares a deck with Mordin who is probably the standout squadmate of ME2.
And YES, I am of mixed race. If you need proof, I can send you links to my Facebook(hahaha, I was about to say "Look at my sig for my facebook" until I realized my facebook linked sig is on another forum), VYou, Youtube, etc etc via PM, if you wish. I'm Cuban, Indian, Spanish, and Irish, born in NYC.
And how am I being ignorant of his daddy issues by saying he does in fact have daddy issues?
So does Miranda. So does Tali. So does Thane(albeit in the opposite way as he IS the father in the issues bit).
Its the only thing that keeps him from being regarded in the same vein as the Normandy Requisitions Officer in ME1.

Where the heck did you get the notion that if you don't like Jacob, you're a racist. I am talking about his character and how he skin color could play in part in why people consider him "boring". To be honest, I have never seen Jacob get any kind of the amount of support as everyone else in this game. None what so ever, so until you can prove me wrong on that, maybe, JUST MAYBE, I'll listen to what you have to say. Now, you can't comprehend that, then just forget the whole thing. I give people the benefit of the doubt that they can comprehend these things by looking at ALL angles, but I see that they can't.
So, I apologize to you not being able to do that. That was my fault for thinking you had that ability without checking with you first because that was not fair to you. And I don't patranize no one unless I feel they are doing that to me, which is what I have gotten from you another person. So, as quiet as kept, I have said I wanted to on this subject and have no problem moving on from it.

here you go again with patronizing people. Seriously, just give your side and leave it at that. You could probably go a post without insulting someone and live.
You're calling someone a racist and saying you don't believe they're 'mixed' because they don't like Jacob, that really is.... It doesn't make any sense at all. None of us brought up his skin color because it doesn't factor in with wether or not I like/dislike him.
And what kind of support are you looking for? If you're talking about people supporting him, then maybe that's because they don't find him very interesting? If you're talking about commercial support, neither does grunt, neither does joker, neither do the engineers, neither does fem shep- and yet most of those do have a notable following.
I don't find Mordin physically appealing, and yet he's one of my favourite characters (if not my favourite).
