You know what my reactions were to Miranda's catsuit?  I thought:
"Well, that's pretty hot."
Then, "That doesn't seem feasible." <_<
Then I shrugged and ignored it.

very much agreed.

Miranda had a great body.  She was designed that way, the looks were part of who she was.  She wasn't beautiful for no reason, she was genetically modified to be that way.  That was part of her character.  And they poked fun at her attire on several different occasions.

And furthermore, I don't want my videogames to be social commentary on gender.  I want them to be fun.

I had no problem with the catsuit or the lack of squad armor in general.  The amount of rage this caused came as quite a suprise to me when i started visiting these forums.  But I always hated most of the armor in ME1, so maybe that had something to do with it.  Most of it was ugly so I liked that I didn't have to look at it and that my team had their own unique outfits.

Of course it occurred to me that the squadmates without armor didn't have much protection, but then I said to myself, it's a videogame, set in space, with people who can kill with their minds, where we have the ability to jump across the galaxy instantaneously.  Given that setting, I'm not going to fret too much over the fact that I have a girl on my team that goes into battle topless, or one that wears heels.  I preferred to enjoy the game instead of worrying about how unrealistic it was not to have armor.  And given a choice between ME2's outfits and ME1's armor, I'll take ME2 every day.

Eh, I'd take ME1. Practicality over snazziness.

But I think they could find a good balance between the two.

Thank you, Warlocomotf. You just proved what I just said. You don't have an ear to hear if I did try to explain it so why continue further? Just forget it, ok? I won't waste my time and keyboard. I've said my point already and you chose to ignore it. You saw the direct opposite of what I said because you chose to, so I will be just repeating myself. I don't know you and you don't know me. Be happy and contiue on with the topic that AdmiralCheez was aiming for.

Sorry, AdmiralCheez, for threadjacking your thread.

I hadn't actually read your "I'm done" post when I wrote my previous post. The reason I 'continue further' is because I always try to understand the person I'm having a discussion/argument with. If/when I understand the other person, I can either make a compromise in my own mind, or I can atleast understand the other person and have "peace with it". Also understanding the other person helps me in trying to explain my own opinion on the matter.

I do try to understand you- I hope you're also trying to understand what I'm saying. I have to admit I'm having some difficulty understanding what you're saying, in part due to strange grammer.

Yeah, pretty much this. And I do agree, most of the ME1 armor made me blanch... though I wished there were more options for squad outfits in ME2 apart from a simple palette swap and that DLC that came out.

and plus the views' a whole lot better than it would be with armour - especially the whole "being able to see the face" part in a game driven by story and conversations.

Personally I'm on the fence, I like that in ME2 characters have personalized looks, but I'd have liked if they had separate on-mission off-mission equipment. Their on-mission equipment however I do think should still be personalized. If I had to choose between non-personalized armor and personalized non-armor, I'd probably go for personalized armor.

I have good hopes for ME3 though, they seem to be going for "middleground" between ME1 and ME2 on a lot of topics, hopefully they also go for middle ground here.

This is a forum based on video games. Usually the hardcore fans are the ones who partake in these and the reason they're called hardcore fans is because they care about little things that a casual fan might not care about.

So that's expected. Its not whining. Its critiquing. Judging. Discussing. Yeah, there's whining and crying, but not all of it is such.

If you must avoid it, turn safe search on. You WILL come across it at some point otherwise.

I don't think you can look up a single ME squadmate on google images with the safe search off and not get at least one image that's porn related.

The most disturbing piece of fanart I have ever seen is Grunt related.

And Garrus.

And Urz.

You know what? Just never use google for images, you'll get more porn than anything else.

Anger? Why? It sounds like they are brainstorming ways to make female turians look female, while avoiding breasts and lipstick.

The interview

He openly states that they avoid the female counterparts to the male aliens because they have no clue how to design them. And apparently the artists don't have much interest in trying either.

THAT is angering me. Because that is the most idiotic thing I've heard from an artist in quite a while. Especially from an artist who is on a team who was responsible for a few of the most interesting, beautiful and diverse alien-designs I've ever seen in any film or game.
And if that art director is trying to convince us that the artist team who is responsible for such creative character-designs is incapable of coming up with a convincing and creative design for their female versions, I'm just angered and disappointed.
Because this is just a blatant, lazy and idiotic way of saying "Nah, we don't want to".

I didn't personally percieve it that way. He was saying it's hard to quantify what beauty in a female might mean in Turian society. It appears that they are attracted to human bodytypes based on the Qurian in Eternity, the Asari in Eternity(the Salarian bachelor party), and Shepard with Garrus. It appears that they're physically attracted to humans but would it be appropriate to go World of Warcraft and make all females look like humans with the exception of Hanar? That is what I saw him getting it. Masculinity and strong features are easy, beauty however is hard.
