And to be frank I could care less what females or males are wearing in ME3 it could be 100 layer battle plate or a transparent vinyl catsuit for all I care, I'm going to be way too busy absorbing the story and saving the galaxy

Than it shouldn't bother you if other people would prefer characters stick to armour in armour appropriate environments than eh?

Uh I don't care about that one way or another what I care about is a few hundred people on a forum thinking they know better than the millions that don't play Forum Effect.

Despite our BW Fandom, BW doesn't make games for the few hundred people that haunt these boards between releases.

You know I often tend to scratch my head at threads like this that
assume what is good for a handful of people on a forum is in the
interests of the millions of other people that never bother using
forums.

Not to sound confrontational but, would it really bother millions to see female characters wearing realistic attire?

ME2 was less sexual than ME was. Ashley and Liara or Kaiden, all basically went full body and sex was most definitely implied, the best that can be said for ME2 was some aggressive cuddling occurred and that was it.

But, I thought ME went with sensible outfits and tasteful sex scenes. ME2 went with restrictive outfits (Jack's belts honestly look painful..) and dry humping.

@SLPr0

Most comments I've seen, both on-and-off the internet, have been in favor of more practical outfits. I actually sat down with a friend last week, played a bit of ME2 while he was chilling at my place, and he said to me, "Huh, I've never noticed how dumb some of the squadmates look."

Fact is, most people don't care about the game; to them, it's just entertainment, and they're just as likely to trade ME2 for GoW3 as they are to play the next big FPS. So these matters don't concern them; they concern the dedicated fans, the ones who appreciate those details. But if you take any regular person, and show them Miranda/Jack walking around in combat and vacuum without a helmet/armor, and ask them for their initial impression, I can guarantee you most of them would think it looked stupid.

I never intended this to be a petition to remove all sexybits from ME3; I like Miranda, and was only mildly annoyed with the whole "spandex in space" thing.

My point is that I do not want Bioware to push it any further.  Let's not turn the whole squad into fashion models with jumpsuits, okay?  I'd say we are at full jumpsuit capacity.

Personally, I have zero problem with Miranda wearing spandex on the Normandy or the Citadel or any situation that isn't combat (or hard vacuum, at least).  She's obviously acutely aware of how good her body looks and is a very sexually confident person who dresses like that deliberately.  It would be terrible if she was a super conservative who hated sex and just "accidentally" looked that way (EDIT: unless you're an asari, in which case, standards of sexual modesty are rather different)

I haven't seen anything about ME3 that indicates that things will somehow get worse.. I know a lot of people have mentioned Ash's boobs - frankly, I don't see what the big deal is there - I thought Ashley just looked nice  in that pic.  Indeed her hair looks good down and she has a great figure (not surprising given the medical advances in the ME universe), but she doesn't look "tarted up."  Not even remotely.

I agree with the OP's intent. However, I am not a big fan of the VS and Jack. The latter was included to emphasize the dark and edgy character of ME2. I left her below decks and only came looking for her when it was time to collect some experience points. Ashley's new look cannot lure me away from the bad taste that her cameo left in my mouth. She awaits the same faith as Jack in ME3. I think I don't respond well to characters created by a marketing department.

I only skimmed the thread, but I basically agree with OP. Your audiance does not only consist of teenage boys Bioware. Not every woman in the military who ends up in the team that saves the Galaxy is also a supermodel and neither is every strong woman you might consider recruiting a supermodel. One of these kinds of girls in the party is ok, but in ME2 we had 3-4. It's just too much. Especially when 50% of the alien races look like human supermodels as well. And I'm saying this as a guy.

Being surrounded by girls in tight bunny-, err jumpsuits really damages the believability of the game.

Let's look at AShley for example. She got a makeover for no reason other than looking more sexy. Why? Allthough I didn't like her for various reasons, she was one of the few female characters who looked like a real woman. Now that she appearantly is a spectre you'd think that she'd wear armor like any other Spectre we've seen so far. What does she wear instead? Another Jumpsuit. Ans of course, that jumpsuit needs a V-Neck that reaches all the way down to her breasts. So what is this? Only guys need armor? Girls will be protected by the might of their cleavage?

Please make up your mind about your taget audiance Bioware.

Cool beans. Actually, to be completely honest, I read the first few sentences scrolled down to see how long it was, said "Yeah, **** that." and posted cool beans. Also I think I've read this thread before. Many times, actually.

Don't quite understand why this thread, out of all the "ANTI BOOB" threads, has gotten so many replies.

Anyway, while i do believe squamates should be fully armoured in combat, when in general public or on the ship i think Bioware should do whatever they want with them. If large boobies takes you out of the game world, that's not Bioware's fault.

I don't think it's really the character models that are the perceived problem but the manner in which BioWare treat those characters. The ass shots being a good example. Yes, we can see Miranda has a nice butt, we don't need it pointed out every scene she's in.
That, and the clothing when in hostile environments. I don't mind admiring the attractive squad members whilst on the Normandy, but there's a time and place for it. In battle is not one of those places.

I think those are the main points of the thread.

wardrobe options for all squadmates, physically fit to deal with combat just not so stacked, and a "Hot Coffee" minigame with blurred out naughty bits aka "eraser burns" or black bars are the overall feelings im getting from what ive read. maybe shot from the back..only the top of butt crack showing artsy "nude scene"?

i think they should leave asari bits alone...cuz their anatomy is different from humans. Human females on board the Normandy, save for Miranda, shouldnt be "me bouncy," especially Alliance service members. and like homeboy said...on missions combat armor...form fitting. on ship or in non-combat areas...service uniforms or casual attire. in personal space/rooms....whatever Bioware wants!! im talkin' asari silk panties and nothing else! for everybody!! not just on Jacob too!

I don't mind people wearing outrageous clothes, or having bodies, bits etc. - in fact I'd probably rather there were boobs than no boobs tbh.

It is a fantasy world, after all.

Oh come on...out of 40-50 hours of play time, there's like 2 or 3 ass shots. Are people here really saying that's a big deal? Got damn....

Listen, fellas: Jack and Ashley were cool because they didn't conform to the role of typical female lead.  Now, I'm hopeful these two characters will retain their unique (albeit somewhat abrasive) personalities, but after Tali...  I really don't know.

^ THIS!!!!!!

The whole reason I fell in love with Ashley's character was b/c of her personality and how she wasn't the typical leading female that gets swept off her feet by the male hero.

Not to mention, I absolutely loved the way she looked in ME1, so I don't particularly care for the new redesign, but I can live with it... (I mean, let's face it, it's pretty hot) but what I CAN'T live with is if they decided to change her personality along with it. Like you said, that's what made her a cool character.... NOT how big her ****** are.

Yes, I exaggerated but it doesn't change the emphasis that was put on the character. As I've stated before, those ass shots were more memorable than a lot of her dialogue because of how it was handled. Not the hallmark of a character driven scene. >.>

As for Samara's chest... I don't find that attractive. It looks like two bowls were placed on her chest. Gravity defiance... that comes with the biotic field, right?

Ehh that's subjective. The vast majority of Miri fans (here), myself included, like her for her personality and how she carries about herself. Please don't make it sound like she's just there as a piece of meat.

In the Thief DLC in ME2, if playing as female Shepard - which I do since the male Shepard is boring and has a horrible voice - there were a lot of breast shots in the opening part of that DLC while heading to the party.

After about the fifth shot or so I wondered if the developers badly needed to take a cold shower.

Throwing sex appeal in a game may sell, but I frankly feel it's tacky, unneeded and shows how much the industry, and the gamers who demand such things, need to grow up.

And then there's skimpy armour, does armour that barely provides protection to a woman wearing it really sound like a logical move? Breasts don't make for additional protection, so skimpy armour is yet another prime example of how badly the industry needs to grow up.

Whatever next, crotch shots? Female leads and support characters should be respectfully done, feminine, but not done as sex appeal, but as well written characters with wonderful character development while still having their own personalities.
I quite liked Ashley, she was very much the kind of 'You anger me and I will kill you' aspect while having a sensitive side in regards to her family history and her clear love for her sister. And Tali in ME1 was nicely done, she came across as someone who was still very young, but she was learning about herself and what was in the universe.

Sex appeal might work for the kind of males who can't keep their hands out of their underwear, but it's tacky, unneeded. It only gives those who hate video games more fuel for the fire.

Seriously? [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/pinched.png[/smilie]

Since when did I ever make it sound like she was a piece of meat? I'm arguing against the objectification of female characters.

Reduction? Maybe I'm wrong here, but in ME1 Tali's characterization (like that of Wrex and Liara) was about 60% defined by her race. Good with machines, hates the Geth. That was about 50% (IMO) of her charcter. BEsides this, she fought t he good fight, and.... can't remember much else from her in ME1, to be honest.

EDIT: So by becoming a badass leader of a Quarian team, she was reduced to a shrinking violet. I mean, almost any change to her character is an addition, methinks.
