What annoyes me in over-sexualization is that gamecompanies think it is what we want. There is no NEED for it, but somewhere a suitman has decided that game sells more if there is lots of big ****** and butts. It doesn't matter if it goes as far as being ridicilous, like Samaras outfit or every one running in vacuum without suit, but because EVERY ONE knows sex sells, there must be ******. As a gamer, it insults my brains and my intelligent. I don't buy a single game for ******, and I don't think even 15 years old virgin nerd would do that, not when Interwebs is filled with porn. Mind you, Jacobs suit annoyed me as much as Mirandas, and I find them both as ridicilous. I ended up not using some crewmembers just because their looks annoyed me so much.
Unfortunately it does sell more,as it happens with everything else...you may think that becasue a couple of hundred(probably less) people come into the forums saying they are not influenced by this aspect of the game don¡t amount as much as the people who like this aspect of the game but have never been in the forums...
I'm not saying this is the reason why people buy the game but believe me it's a plus,it's there for a reason, not to say how many people say here that they don't like it but they can't take their eyes off miranda's butt or Jack's little twins whn they show up.
I totally agree that it can be offensive but believe me...it sells and A lot!
Tomb raider anyone....

it appears vaginytis is spreading (Giggity). Come on really people, how about an in-depth conversation about the monetary system and how its affecting our everyday lives or social economic slavery and the governments true agenda and who's really behind it. wrong site? Ok but theres nothing wrong with showing off one of natures greatest achievements, women are sexy and i think BW would have to go out of their way to portray them otherwise. i happen to love fine cars and like to see them, so if a game wants to show there beautiful curves while still respecting there capabilities then i say god bless. ps not talking about carsTaHol100 wrote...

"Earth belongs to males, deal with it."
Right. And this kind of attitude is exactly what I find jarring about the game in certain places. I wonder how'd you feel if the gaming industry was female-dominated, and to play a decent game you'd have to put up with males in catsuits and close-up of male crotches, and if you came to forum to compain in hopes to vent a little of your frustration, you'd get mocked and told to deal with it. Really, I'm dealing with it. The whole life is like that. I'm used to it. Still doesn't mean I can't say anything about it.
Really, though, would it be too much to limit close-ups of female bodies to romantic interactions? This way you can make sure that the player, whatever the gender, is actually interested in staring at those things. I don't even mind curvy females in catsuits everywhere, as long as you can see her face. I actually enjoyed watching the dancers in the Afterlife, and I wish there was an opportunity for Shepard to dance in the same manner, not just rock from one foot to another. But when Miranda's rear takes the whole screen, this is where things begin to border on comical.

Exactly. The way some of these posts go, you can't help but suspect that they're written by a bunch of nuns. A couple of ass shots and lo and behold the game has become a softcore pr0n movie that demeans women, and gamers, and gamer women, and teenagers, and men, and the Right.
Would 'Get a grip' be considered too harsh to be advice?

Sometimes when our male gaze is fixed upon a really nice butt, we don't notice that the rest of the scenery is falling apart. Unfortunately in some cases sexuality is abused like that. Ever bought a really crappy razor because there was a nice chick in the commercial?
I agree that there's no harm in some nice looking attributes, but I hate the cheapness that often follows. When liquor is marketed with good looking babes, the actual liqour is bound to taste like something out of a sewer. Sometimes this happens in games too.

See it's not the sexual content itself that is bad.GodWood wrote...
I personally have nothing against sexual content when it's appropriate.
Strip Club/Brothel/Sex scene = Appropriate
Combat/hostile environment etc = Not Appropriate
Honestly I find it ridiculous that armour was thrown away for sexed up catsuits and yet the actual sex scenes were toned down to nothing but awkward dry-humping.
I welcome it.
It's the sexual content that is completly out of context (cleavage in space, catsuits and heels in a firefight, focusing on a characters arse when she's talking about her kidnapped sister) that is bad, or more accurately, STUPID!

Buying a razor because of a commerical. Are you serious? Whoever has done this needs to get a grip.

Judging by the commercials, I'd say millions of people. Otherwise they wouldn't make them like that. ;-)

I do agree that there is oversexualisation. Characters like Samara should be wearing armour and, if necessary, helmets in combat, and there is sometimes too much focus on their bodies (although a bit of screen time can't hurt). BioWare could also give the ladies more to look at to make things a bit more fair (even if the majority of players are men).
Ultimately, I have no problem with the ridiculously hot women in ME, as in the future most women probably will be very attractive, but there does need to be much less focus on pleasing the horny male 14-year-old virgins.
And I say all of that as a male 14-year-old virgin. Not a horny one though.
I love how this thread has over 30 pages of posts. Probably because the annoyingly popular Admiral Cheez started it.

Look, it's the future. Of course women are going to be more beautiful. And what's wrong with beautiful women? Obviously the personality comes first but there's certainly no shortage of that in the Mass Effect characters.

Samara IS wearing armor. I don't get what the big deal with Samara is. She's almost 1000 years old and she looks that good? Ofcourse she's gonna let it show. Her personality fits into what she's wearing just fine. This is not 'oversexualization." Oversexualization of Samara would be her constantly on you, wanting you, flirting with you, her conversations only being about wanting you and whatnot. Yet, she's a campanion who you can't even romance. Give me a break.
I PROMISE you 14 year olds see more than Samara's 1000 year old boobs on a daily basis.
Oversexualization in Mass Effect?
Give. Me. A. Break. This thread is ridiculous.

And don't even get me started about the heels. That's not going to help you AT ALL in a zero-g environment.
I'm sorry, but male or female, leather won't stop bullets. And even then, when a good portion of your center of mass isn't even covered by the leather...no excuse.
And wearing a stripperific outfit isn't a good way to get taken seriously, regardless of gender.

i'm glad you've predicted the future(a fictional future universe, too).
TIM spent billions of credits to bring someone back to life. Yet, you question the possibility of someone wearing, what you call leather, into battle or into hazardous areas. You either want realism or you don't. Please decide.
Shepard fell out of a ship, through space, through an atmosphere and crashed onto a planet with no safety net, was brought back to life, was able to customize his/her entire face, but outfits that you don't even know what they are made out of is completely out of the question and inexcusable?
