"You are basing this off of your experiences. Even if you knew 100 female gamers, all who played barbie house, that wouldn't even account for a full 1 percent of girl gamers.

Aside from the fact my experiences are different from yours, (most girl gamers round where I live play ME, and other Triple A titles, if only my girlfriend was one.) you really should trust that actual census data gathered for the fact."

[/quote]
exactly, have you ever dated a girl that was seriously into video games? anyone on this site? how do u think that census goes? ever played a video game? yes? bam female gamer! and how many of these girls were talking about a wii anyways. 60/40 i wish, then mabey i could chill and play some vids with a chick instead of being dragged to "love happens" or some crap.

Man, you just find further and further ways to prove your idiocy. I'm impressed by your tenacity. It's an odd mix.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be going back to my real, attractive girlfriend. You might one day learn to stop being such a crimson d-bag and leave your basement.

... but I need to get this out of my system.

The one thing that annoys me most is that game developers often assume the only people that play their games are young, horny males who have never had a girlfriend and probably will never get one.  Female characters, if present at all, are frequently given over-exaggerated "hot" bodies jammed into revealing and too-tight outfits.

Bioware is no exception, but to their credit they often made a joke out of it to mock their cheap pandering to a seventeen-year-old's erection and backed off on the whole boobies thing when it wasn't appropriate.  For example, take ME1: it had an entire race of sexy babes, but Bioware was able to get away with this because they poked fun at the trope and also gave the asari an interesting culture and deep characters.  There was only one case of extreme cleavage (Matriarch Boobnezia Benezia), and none of the female leads were overtly sexualized (FemShep and Ashley especially were pretty plain in their body-types and never wore anything incredibly revealing apart from certain types of armor that had a tendency to ride up the crack).  So I let them get away with it.

And then came ME2.  Suddenly, boobs, boobs everywhere (plus a few manly bits this go-round: check out Jacob and Thane.

It's weird how what annoys you the most is one of my favorite bits.

Also game developers do not assume the demographics of their fan base, they know it.  Or are you going to sit there and try to tell me that the majority of gamers are, in fact, not young males. (I guess I don't fall completely into that demographic, while the first two fit perfectly I do have a girlfriend - but she is neither blue nor does she have head tentacles, which is why I bang the asari 9 times out of 10).

If I wanted to play a game composed of normal male and female human leads I'd play Captain Bland's monotonous adventure.

Are you therefore saying that the target demographic is what many think of pre-pubescent boys or 18 year-olds steeped in hormones that they can't do anything but focus on sex or killing?  Because they have the disposable income of course correct?  If that's the case I'll let any subsequent game go just like I won't buy TOR.

Jack being softened and matured makes me believe she might actually decide to wear some clothing this time. NORMAL CLOTHING.

That would be fine, but if she goes all Tali on me I'm killing her ass. I'm less concerned with what she's wearing and more concerned with what they'll do to her character.  A little more social/less ragekill would be understandable since she's foud a place where she can fit in aboard the Normandy, but I'm still expecting something short-tempered and belligerent that curses like a sailor.

Everything you said but please, less cursing.

Jack should return as foul-mouthed as ever, IMO.

Each character should be different and some should be more foul-mouthed than others. Having a potty mouth makes sense for Jack, since she's from the fringe. She's spent most her life running with gangs, was a pirate for an unspecified amount of time, and has been to prison. People with her background generally would be foul mouthed.

I concur, Aedan. If the game were dominated by people with her rusty tongue I'd be a lot less inclined to enjoy it -- but she stands uniquely across the cast and it adds some terrific flavor to her character.

I'm with the OP on this.

I'm all for a hot girl,  but ME2's just embarassing.  Miranda looks like she's competing with Pamela Anderson,  she's so impossibly obscenely out of proportion it's just disturbing.  Jack's no better,  strippers wear more clothes,  though at least they can use the excuse of trying to show off the full body tattoos.

I realize women should be attractive in a game,  but do they have to look like porn stars?  I mean seriously,  look at Keira Knightley,  she's incredibly hot and the girl isn't top heavy.

They really need to quit with the triple D's artwork,  and a little less pasty's in combat wouldn't be bad either.

Edit:

Well, to be honest...my mom works in mental health, primary, child and adult development and she deals with cases such and trauma and many more and she's seen the outcomes of many of those traumas...and saying that excessive cursing (Notice that I didn't say just "cursing". I said excessive cursing.") isn't a part of that? My mother would highly, HIGHLY, disagree with you on that. lol

Your mother would be wrong.  She'd be making the massive error of confusing the lack of inhibition in mental health populations with a correlation to swearing.  She'd be making the cardinal sin of assuming that "Healthy people don't swear",  when the truth is "Healthy people don't swear around people they don't know".

10 minutes in almost any given Italian household will correct the mistake,  trust me on this.  Plus there's a number of other cultures where it's routine.

Miranda, out of proportion? You are aware women with her measurements do exist, yes? Costume model Belle Chere is even more bodacious in the breasts-waist-hips ratio, and I play D&D with a guy whose girlfriend could easily cosplay Miranda with a dye job. Miranda is not some kind of mythological creature of pure sex appeal that never occurs in nature.

Incidentally, when I reported him earlier for his routinely inane comments I made specific mention of the admission that I took some of his bait and if there's punishment to be thrown about, I don't mind taking a piece of the action.

That said, I felt completely calm the entire time while reading his posts and decided I'd mess right back. So I'm not sure I'd classify that as being trolled, no.

I will not care about showing extra cleavage or skin or changing their looks to come off as sexier. As long as the story is intact and the characters themselves retain any of the character development in 1 and 2, it will be fine by me. Besides, if ME3 will be anything like ME2 then there will be texture mods available.

So you're wiling to let things slide just as long as the game is 'good' since a game being 'great' is impossible to expect, amirite?

these stats are pure bs, i know several female gamers and none of them play mass effect. A few play cod (poorly, for like an hour a month) but its games like barbies dream house and other lame non complicated games that girls prefer. i'm willing to bet that for serious 3-5 days a week, new game buying, merchandize quaffing gamers the stats r more like 90% male 10% female. besides girls complain about everything, am i right fellas. wahhh my vaginas bleeding, pshh... get over it.

Sorry to burst your bubble. I'm a female gamer and I have finished said ME2 about 20 times. In my betatesting times I spent 12 hours a day gaming, and believer me, it was not Barbie or Sims. I haven't even touched Sims in my life. I don't even know why I bother to answer to pubertetic hormonal disaster like you, but here you got it.
