Sorry... you know, I came to this thread joking too - but then I discovered that this is actually meant as a serious discussion. Well, either that, or really, really good trolling.

Hmmm, interesting but I don't *smell* troll. Go back and try it again, this time with feeling.

This thread has more stupidity than I care to imagine. And I'm not even a PC elitist or an RPG purist.

Dragon Age is meant to be an RPG. DA2 is still an RPG, despite the protests against it. It's moving Dragon Age in the right direction, but needs a lot of work done.

The right direction however is not to make it God of War or Call of Duty. God almighty I want David Gaider/John Epler/ Stanley Woo/ any f*cking developer to come in and point out how insane this sounds. You want God of War? Go play that. You want Call of Duty? Go play that. I do when I want those games. I do not come onto forums asking that one game series genre be changed and warped into a completely different genre because "I personally would like it better. Screw the other people, it's about ME."

I can see siege weapons like Ballistae or Catapults only being used by the Qunari, since they are technologically more advanced than other civilizations (though not by much). I do not want to see a mage firing off 60 spell bullets a second like he's been turned into a robot.

God almighty I think I need to get away from this thread now because the stupidity is infecting me....

Well, judging by the changes made in DA2 I wouldn't be so sure...

Frightening thought.

So having dinosaurs with magical beams or an awesome button to skip conversations based on an awesomly executed punch/stab wouldn't be roleplaying? I guess what the developers and us true supporters are actually trying to convey in this thread is how to bring even more awesomeness into an already awesome franchise.

DAO lacked action, and DA2 got us even nearer. Large swords and cooler, glowing weapons would certainly attract new players, while keeping older ones. Seriously, is there anything NOT to like about that idea? Just like anyone as a kid liked dinosaurs? Imagine for one second, a vivid city like Kirkwall being stomped by a TRex? AWE-SOME!

Who doesn't like Mario Bros? Who wouldn't like a jump button? Clearly everyone likes jumping, you can easily spot people spamming spacebar in WoW, for instance? It's got to be fun, so why is it that DA characters can't jump?

I seriously can't understand what is it that you don't like from all these awesome ideas. Maybe you're just here trolling.

I seriously hope that entire post of yours was meant as a joke. For the time being, I'll assume you were dead serious.

DA:O had large swords. DA2 didn't bring anything new to the table in terms of Greatswords.

I am definitely not trolling. It's unfathomable how much of a joke this entire thread is. The people who are actually clamoring for all these poor excuses for how to better the series don't want to improve on anything. They may claim they want to, and maybe they even believe that. But they are only trying to satiate their want for games that fit only their style of gaming. If it isn't the way they want to play it, there is something wrong with it and they are "the saviors that will deliver true games to all of us"! You know what that means? They want every game to be one or two genres.

It's not their type of game (and by your post, it's not yours either). That's fine. Move the **** on and buy games that fit your style. But do not insist that one genre should change to another just so you can feel justified in spending YOUR money on a game that YOU chose to buy. It's your own damn fault and not Bioware's or the fault of the people who actually enjoyed the game.

At first I was skeptical about the backlash against broadening the audience of gamers who play DA2. I thought maybe they'd enjoy the DA series as an RPG series. After seeing this thread, I'm ashamed that this is the world I, an 18 year old male, now live in. I live in a world where one person insists they are right and the other people are wrong. It is that sort of blind arrogance that makes me despise what Earth has come to be.

Dragon Age: Origins' combat was not lacking in action. Rather, it had action, but the clunky and awkward combat reduced the sense it gave. Dragon Age 2 sought to improve combat by making it more fluid and realistic (which they failed in for certain things). Two-handed warriors shouldn't swing their swords effortlessly. That said, they shouldn't take 5 minutes to land a hit.

I'm done for now. I'm getting a headache now because of this thread.

edit: if you were in fact joking, than this post is not meant to be addressed to you. It is, however, addressed to all those who made this abomination of a thread. Somebody call the Templars...

And I, as a Loghain-lover agree with an Alistairlover. That kinda says it all, doesn't it?

And no, I don't want the game to go into that direction - I like RPGs, and I would like to continue playing them. There are precious few left, and I don't want to see one single of them ruined. Yes ruined.

Aye, DA3 really need to cut down on the itinerary parts of the game, especially since neither DA:O nor DA2 were ever really into exploration; so better cut the already withered limbs all together, for half measures won't give anyone any pleasure.

I've spared Loghain in 3 out of 6 playthroughs.

No, I ensure you it's really not, as I've already explained before we simply want DA3 to focus on the strengths of DA2, to give us a better experience, and to further our cause we want DA3 to draw on the strengths of the contemporaries of DA2 in GoW and the like.

True it seems some felt it's sarcasm, but I really don't get lampooning at all, and could never be a blackguard even if I wanted to, I'm simply too honest I think and I'm really hopless at parties.

EDIT: I'll check your larger reply later and answer to the best of my abilities - but as I'm currently occupied with something else that defence will have to wait.

Really - if you are trolling and driving at sarcasm you should get out, it's a serious thread - I even thought you were serious there.

Not to derail this into OT and trolldom.

So back on a serious note.
Should even most humans be magical and beastial? would be nice if they had hidden monsters inside like in RE4/RE5 placed there by evil bloodmages - like small daemons, would explain much about their behaviour around Kirkwall.

What about turning into Vampire (you could do that in TES:Oblivion) ? Or maybe spell in Shapeshifter tree ? All that blood flying around could feed us and restore our health.

PS. Please guys stop going OT too much, many great ideas in this thread - it would be shame to see it getting locked.

Yes it sounds good, we already can eat the hearts of our enemies using the Reaver ability, so it's not really far off to be able to cannibalize or consume blood through vampirism.

Would be nice if we could eat the corpses after the fight to regain health, like in FO3 if you have the cannibalize perk.

*facepalm*

God I was hoping it was trolling. But to read that this is all a serious desire. only one pic can aptly describe my feelings on the matter....

Please just go play God of War if you want God of War. seriously. but don't try to ruin an RPG series by making it a full-blown action/adventure hack-and-slash.
