Sorry... you know, I came to this thread joking too - but then I discovered that this is actually meant as a serious discussion. Well, either that, or really, really good trolling.

It is a serious discussion, but we would like your participation unless you troll or go OT.

Apparently Uzaik was yes, it was a shame since it risked derailing the thread.

No, I ensure you it's really not, as I've already explained before we simply want DA3 to focus on the strengths of DA2, to give us a better experience, an even better experience by having DA3 draw on the strengths of the contemporaries of DA2 in GoW and the like.

*facepalm*

God I was hoping it was trolling. But to read that this is all a serious desire. only one pic can aptly describe my feelings on the matter....

Please just go play God of War if you want God of War. seriously. but don't try to ruin an RPG series by making it a full-blown action/adventure hack-and-slash.

The RPG era has come and gone. Now there are only action games with RPG elements. And honestly, the RPG elements distract from the fun parts.

Yes, and DA2 already trumps blood rayne in the via the number of corpse explosions and splatter, so we could get to true greatness with DA3 if they keep this up.

The thing is that I like a good RPG, I really do - but,
I also like a good action game, and just look at these boards ~ people don't like the story or the RPG elements, and they have already wandered off the park withit, but DA2 is doing something I also like really well in depiction of acts of bloodlust and power, as the slaughter of humans and monsters alike through combat is done in such a sensational manner so as to arouse and get quick intense emotional reactions, and this they should really hang on to, and this is what I and the serious of us in here proposes.

@AlexXIV : keep it clean, we have no issue with EA and I trust that BioWare and EA will do the right thing in DA3, and I believe that when they look at the metrics they will come to the same conculsions as we do.
Also moderators hate quote pyramids for a good reason, so try to minimize them.

I also like good RPGs but since we only get mediocore RPG with mediocore action, I say dump the RPG, focus on action.

Huh what did I say about EA? They are the boss, and Bioware work for them. They bought Bioware so I guess they own it now, that's not a secret.

Speak for yourself. I've been crawling about on this planet for 30 years - and I've seen quite a few doomsayers. One I distinctly remember was "puzzle/adventure games are dead" and then there was "World of Goo", written by two ex-EA employees. Same will happen again when it comes to RPGs. There is a market for these games, and as long as there's a market, there will be a supplier. One of the few reassuring rules of capitalism.

RPGs won't die. DA? That's another question. Implementing all that stuff that has been suggested here might help it along though, and make the death of a great RPG francise quick and painless - if excessively bloody.

People don't like the story or RPG elements based on what? This thread? Have you even seen the other hundreds of threads dedicated to the story? Do not try and say that everyone on this thread hates story and RPG elements for two reasons: 1) You do not know the mindsets of other people and 2) the people who have accounts on this forum are only a small number of the actual people out there.

I also fail to see how people bursting into piles of goo gives one an emotional reaction other than sheer laughter. In God of War that would make some sense, because Kratos is a demi-god. But in a game where you are playing as a man/woman who is about as average as the next person, it makes zero sense. Even then only certain mage talents could make an enemy explode while making sense.

Bioware will do what EA tells them.

Not if DA2 sales are any indicator to EA. They'll realize that by trying to pawn off an RPG as just a game with combat, there will be no profit. And EA isn't making the game. Bioware is. They could leave EA if they wanted to and either work freelance or find a new company to put money behind them that isn't like EA.

Why do you think more blood/enemies/gore/flying parts more action, steam tanks, dinosaurs, dwarvencopters ,vampires etc... would kill RPG in DA3 - you still would be playing a character running around doing quests, splashing enemies - That is Role Playing. Still same old good Dragon Age but better this time.

Edit:  Slying only darkspawns/spiders/abominations while running around with 3 companions is getting old - time to make something new

We want DA to live on and prosper, not the other way around - but I do understand your dislike of the ideas presented here, especially if you see DA more as a RPG than a game, or a ARPG - and I fully respect your opinion. & note that I would be happy with many things when it comes to DA3, and we are just pooling what we find are good ideas to push DA3 to a new level whitin the framework already given by DA2.

One that I don't mind, I just find it to be on the threshold to greatness when it comes to action more than I find it to be worth saving as an RPG, esp. since they would have to retcon the ending of DA2 to make a serious stab at an RPG passable in DA3.

So I simply find this direction to suit DA more given the current state of the series.

This assumes that EA think logically (has never been true) and that BioWare staff want to give up easy money.

This has no basis on reality - you can shove a stave through your chest, cast fire from your hands - enemies explode by your touch, what I see in DA2 are demi-gods.

From humble beginings true, but we all have to start from somewhere.

EDIT: Or the next time you see a civilian/human stick her fist through the chest of someone who is still alive and then continue to pull out their beating heart and then consume it, call me, it would be a great scoop.

Roleplaying means to play a role, so I guess there is always RPG in the game. They can as well have more enemies, more blood, and less time wasted. I mean seriously have you ever looked at all the buildings and of what use they are? So much work to make them and then there is one npc inside with a quest and you run to another building with one npc inside. That's just a waste. If you have enemies instead you at least have fun while you are in there.
