But they are planning the game on consoles. Even wanted to get the first one on consoles but it didn't pan out. What happens when it does? Are you all going to abandon it as not a true RPG because it';s been "dumbed down" for the consoles?
And..Cd-project its indipendent... they have respect for theyr fanbase...
So does every game company except Activision, but it isn't long before they need to move on to the business aspect of the company.
The Witcher 2 is 'vastly, vastly better than Dragon age 2'

I have to agree with Remus. To a degree, console and PC represent two very different fan bases. I have doubts it will be popular on consoles, even if it turns out to be a fantastic game.
I don't agree. I'm sure a good number of RPG fans would love to see The Witcher 2 on consoles, especially if meeting the hardware requirements is not a viable option. The combat system alone could be popular with people who play games like Demon Souls or any "console" RPG for that matter. They could use more "Western" RPGs too.

On a more serious note 8800 series is 4 years old card not a big deal...

Indeed. BioWare has always made great games like the recent DA2. The point still stands: CD Project will continue to focus on the business aspect just like every other developer out there and just saying otherwise doesn't really help.

Following the recent trend of many game devs, they will eventually branch out to other audiences. Also, DA2 has a majority that like it so it will continue to be praised. Whether DA2 is a great sequel is an other matter entirely.

This aspect don't change anything... game have release on PC first... console version will be release after November 1'st maybe if not in December. For me this show what version is much more important for CDP-RED. EOS.
Edit: And I have not need to explain which version will be better hmmm?

The broader audience you want the game cater to the more casual it becomes...and the end is obvious...http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS3cpYQOegUnvYhPqj0eOyT7JZPWt1Sm5MTsDrhKufDZkilwyBpslimgrin wrote...
The worst thing they could do to The Witcher would be to cater to a wider audience. The first one wasn't even meant to be a mainstream game.

I agree, the only problem i see in going to console is the 4 loading screens, how are they going to achieve such a task on consoles.

Most of the sales for either of these titles occurs within the first 8 weeks. Certainly there are a few people who will need to make a decision about whether to buy one or the other, but the majority of DA2 sales will have already occured before TW2 release date.
People don't tend to compare films in this way. If someone liked the Green Hornet, which was released in January, are they going to be upset if the Green Lantern does well (which will be released in June)?
Lots of people will watch both and enjoy both of them, or one or the other.
I feel the same about DA2 and TW2, I have been awaiting the release of both of these games for quite some time. I enjoyed DA2, am happy with my purchase and I have already pre-ordered TW2.
There are not very many Western fantasy RPGs released each year and the better they do collectively, the more developers will dedicate funds and resources to new RPG titles.

It's really just the fans who don't want to see anything do better than a Bioware game. Witcher 2 is looking like it will be better than DA2 in the roleplaying and story department and that scares Bioware fans who can't be objective.naughty99 wrote...
I find it interesting how so many view this as a competition between Bioware and CD Projekt.

It's not a case of which version will be better, but as CD Project gets more people to play their games, they will also start focusing on the casual audience as well. That's what it's about these days when it comes to video games: getting non-gamers or casual gamers to play their games.

What are you basing that assumption on? I've seen the Witcher fans attacking other BioWare fans because they feel superior starting with Rubbish Hero's threads about PC gaming back in early 2010.
