I just don't like how the Witcher fans have been attacking us and claiming that they're the victims. Also, I played and liked the Witcher and I'm anticipating the sequel, but people need to be a lot more amiable.

I find it interesting how so many view this as a competition between Bioware and CD Projekt.

It's really just the fans who don't want to see anything do better than a Bioware game. Witcher 2 is looking like it will be better than DA2 in the roleplaying and story department and that scares Bioware fans who can't be objective.

Indeed... There are a lot of people that thinks... If isn't maded of bioware isn't good.. Let's see when the witcher 2 comes out...

For what i seen tw2 have a lot more content than DA2 its just amazing the love that cd-project put on this title... And wow the city looks so alive!!! Not like the empty static kirkwall..

What are you basing that assumption on? I've seen the Witcher fans attacking other BioWare fans because they feel superior starting with Rubbish Hero's threads about PC gaming back in early 2010.

Well fanboys are everywhere but some of them are very reasonable.. For example i talk with people that enjoyed dragon age 2 and the admit the sequel isnt a true sequel because feel like a total different game... And also we have blind people that screams DA2 is a masterpiece its awesome Origins is garbage.. I prefear the first one... Some people are just ignorant.. And loves attacks other..But as a company cd-project have a lot of respect for theyr fanbase...DA2 is rushed... a lot...full of glitches...nice texture in a very flat and linear ambient....also the life in the city is nearly absent..People must be blind to don't notice those things...For me.. and its a my opinion DA2 have a huge lack of immersion this why i call it a garbage sequel... The witcher 2 have huge improvements in almost ervrything but i see people that play the: OMG but TW have the sex card! this is scandal... Omg see the nudity its weird! I just fount those complaint very immature and almost stupid...

Don't forget that the witcher 1 as a story and with all contents... Was a great rpg...With different manners to afford awesome quests...With choices that have a wheight in the story..Also the sidequest are really really detailed.. And those one for exampler remember me the bg2 quality sidequest... But blind people thinks at the witcher like... OMG have erotic card! Omg woman are object.... And this is really sad...

There are going to be people like I described on both sides of the fence. But this is the Bioware forums, and most of the hate I've seen for Witcher 2 has nothing to do with the game itself but with Bioware fans trying to compare it to DA2 in a negative light. (ex: DA2 is action oriented combat like Witcher 2 so how is it going to be different/better?) Stupid stuff like that.

Most know DA2 is crap and people get offended because Witcher 2 may be a better roleplaying game than DA2. It's a competition of brand names and not of better games.

I'd also like to clarify that I'm talking about unobjective people. Not people who like both games, or that are being critical of specific things about the game.

Witcher fans, myself inculded, are fiercly protective of a developer that has yet to sell out, to go mainstream with their franchise, or with their business practices. This is rare in any industry; it's almost unheard of in the video game industry. So you'll have to forgive us.

Witcher fans bash people who like DA2 even when it was just a game that didn't meet the standards set by the original. Edit: Furthermore, the people who get worked up about the sex cards are desperate and trying to find an argument to use. Also, the only reason why I have shown cynicism towards the Witcher 2 is because people only talk about the graphics and not the story. With the two articles I read in this thread just now, I currently have a reason to like this game besides the visual aspect.

Most think otherwise as well. Like I said, the problem I've been having with some of the fans is the need to not only bash us but to give information that means little compared to the big scheme of things, such as the graphics. You see, even when I heard about how awesome the visual aspect of the game was, I was certain up until reading the two articles that I wasn't going to purchase the game because it was the story that counted. Eventually, the Witcher 2 threads turned into PC vs. Consle type of flamewar, the worst kind of flamewar next to the Console Wars which tires me. I blame it on Rubbish Hero to the whole debacle. She was mostly talking about the power of the PC, not the substance of the game itself.

I'm probably repeating myself here, but I have a problem with the attitude that some of the Witcher fans show towards the DA fanbase, and I think the whole "sex cards" complaint that DA fans talk about is out of desperation really.

I'm repeating myself again but for the record,  I'm going to buy this game because of the story and the fact that it's actuall DARK FANTASY unlike the DA series which only wished it could have been as dark as GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series they were comparing their new franchise to. I wasn't convinced to buy this game before I learned about the storytelling because the Witcher fans only talked about the visual aspect. DA2's problem was the storytelling.

But there you go, I'm done ranting.

I wouldn't bet on that.

Another thing, and I'm not sure if it's true, but I thought I read that CD Projekt either became a corporation or was bought by a corporation. If that's true then they've already sold out.

Err what's wrong with having a stance against DRM?

And no CD Projekt RED hasn't been bought out by anyone. Here's what CD Projekt is. CD Projekt is a company which focuses on computer games and electronic home entertainment (for Poland, duh). CD Projekt RED is a branch of CD Projekt which fufills the computer games part of the company AKA the Witcher series. GoG is a siter company of CD Projekt RED which specialiazes in computer games making them DRM-free.

It took that stance against DRM then put DRM into the retail version of Witcher 2.

Been looking for that corporation info. They bought out or merged with a corporation Optimus. Not sure if that means they are now a corporation or not. Figured it did since it talks about a merging.

I am better than everyone so I should definitely get this game even though I wasn't planning on it.

There are lots of people who are fans of both franchises and will be enjoying both games. I play on PC; however, I don't have any delusions that I am "superior" to anyone who chooses to play on a console.

Personally, I don't mind if DRM is included in any games I buy since it is something that is usually incorporated into almost every paid software application you can buy these days.

I have never had any problems with titles that have Steamworks DRM. I thought it was very odd and probably a poor marketing decision for CD Projekt to make a big deal out of plans to release a version with no DRM.

Yes they put DRM into WItcher 2, but CD Projekt RED has a firm stance in anti-piracy also. The DRM implanted isn't that intrusive such as shown with Ubisoft games, it's a custom Securom DRM.

Here's a link for more info, the playerbase is in fact fine with, those naysayers are just anti-DRM zealots (to put it lightly).

Yes but if you don't feel superior than everyone and play the Witcher series then that would mean MJRick is wrong.

I'm familiar with what kind of DRM it is. It's the same DA2 had. Although, I love how they call it Securom when Bioware said it wasn't Securom. Wonder how that lawsuit against EA is going.

Hehe, this is why I love CD Projekt RED, basically any dev company that has a good relationship with it's fanbase. You can really tell both sides benefit the other and the game development process is a team effort from both sides.

The only other company I can say has the same relationship is Blizzard.

Every time someone uses "their" when they actually mean "they're", my superiority complex grows a tiny bit. By now it's about the size of our solar system, metaphorically speaking.

Not to mention the improper use of THEN when it should have been THAN. it would be too easy to stereotype the user as a console waggling little kid, so I'm not going to do it :P

The Witcher 2 is shaping up to be a great game and I believe it will stand its ground when compared with the other big names that come out this year, DE3:HR, ME3 and Skyrim.

Like C9316 said, being better than DA2 is not exactly an achievement...

It's really funny when I get more roleplay in playing Pokemon Black n White than in DA2

In my opinion DA2 had less roleplay than this!

There are some silly arguments here, cards, drm, who cares. This game looks good, damn good.
Here is a good quality preview of the combat.
