There was nothing gay about Anders in DA:A.

And again you're relying on sterotypes to prove your point. The fact that you don't see this is amusing. People don't run around talking about all the men/women they've slept with just because they're bisexual. Some bisexuals will tend to talk about one gender. Shocking I know. Maybe just maybe Anders bisexuality wasn't relevant in Awakening (guess what? It wasn't). so there's no reason to bring it up.
My words are amusing? YOU are amusing.
"Some bisexuals will tend to talk about one gender". Tend to? This isn't about tendencies. He didn't talk ONCE about his interest in men. But he talked a lot about his interest in women. Those are the facts. All the rest are YOUR wishful thinking.![]()
Right. Just note you're not above sterotyping either.
they could have taken that relationship they added in in DA2 and explored it in some very interesting ways. it would have been relevant in Awakenings becasue its relevant to Ander's time in a circle. it could have had the same relevance as Isabela's husband.
in DA2 it sorta does... for males who romance him only.
its not even the fact that Anders was retconed, pardon me "expanded" into being bi, but rather how it was done. and it was done very very sloppily. and that 15 rivalry? its the principle of thing, it doesn't happen years after you know him, it happens practicaly when you just meet him, and you did absolutely nothing to lead him on. its badly written, plain and simple.

When you can point out where Anders ever said he wasn't interested in men in DAA is when I'll take that "retcon" bit seriously. And no Anders sexual escapades aren't relevant like Izzy's husband. Izzy's husband was killed by Zevran. So yeah. Not anywhere near as relevant. And later in DA2 Izzy's husband treated her like crap and influenced a lot of her later views on love. So again. Relevant.
I find it amusing people always have to justify being gay/bisexual but never have to justify being straight.
And again Anders is described as a clingy and obsessed invidiual. Being nice to those types of people is what they'll latch onto. If you're not MR. Uber nice and understanding you don't even get that "Am I going to fast?" dialogue. So again I'm not understanding the complaints. Anders in DA2 is clingy, obsessive, catty and an emotional trainwreck. IT makes sense for him to try to latch onto the one person he thinks is treating him decently.
So no it's not "badly written, plain and simple." just because you don't like it.

Psst...hey you! Yes you! We know that when your crying "Boo hoo Anders hit on me and oh I want some LI's to be straight, bi and gay" that you are lying about wanting bi/gay LI's.
Because the very day they have a fullly realized LI is gay that you end up wanting to romance with your straight PC... You're going to run crying and howling on the forums in a way that the entire gay and gay friendly community could never hope to match.
And I will laugh. Oh by all the gods will I revel in the delicious tears. I'm going to troll so hard that the mods will have to ban me and it will be worth it. Oh go ahead and deny it now, play your innocence cards, I know we are years away from this at best. Denial ain't just and river in Egypt and trust me I know what a closet looks like and if you were any deeper in it you'd be in Narnia dancing with the fairies.
Overdramatic much? That seems to be a theme around here.

How exactly was it 'sloppy'?
Does he need to wear a "I'm a bisexual" sticker on his forehead in DA:A for it to be legit?

Sorry if the truth hurts. Perhaps I should lie as well and say I'll be right there at your side fighting for more straight LI's? Nah the dishonest bit isn't for me.
P.S. Thanks for quoting me, that way it didn't get buried on the last page.

She's right though. The whine-fest would be unmatched if this hypothetical situation ever came to pass.
I mean, look at the people whining b/c they can't romance Bethany who's liek, OMG the hottest chick in the game!!
WHY BIOWARE!!?! WHY??/!!?

There was nothing gay about Anders in DA:A.
There's nothing NOT gay about him either. He makes a couple comments about women, but every one of them is in the middle of some joke or when he's teasing the girl in question. Nothing he says in Awakenings can be taken as straight fact. Every companion who talks with him makes comments to that effect.

it's convenient that you forget to mention the huge amount of whining that happened because certain characters weren't gay or romanceable.

I don't get this whole idea of exclusivity that some people have in regards to certain characters' sexualities. Nobody has any right to them, and certainly nobody has a right to claim that they should be exclusive to one set of PCs and not another. It's a game, and a certain level of abstraction and suspension-of-disbelief is required, well, for everything. Is it so bad to allow more options to be available for everyone? That way, everyone can achieve maximum satisfaction since everyone is open to everyone (so no-one feels cheated of their preferred potential LI), and we can all go home and stop ****ing.
Because some people just can't date bisexuals ever. It like...it's impossible for them.
I don't understand it but there you go.

It's unlike Bioware.
Also DO NOT make a character like Miranda and not let her being an option for both sexes. That ass!

isn't it a little contradictory though? First you say nobody has any right to a characters sexuality, then you say is having the options for everyone a bad thing.

It's even more convienent that you forget that the "poor straight people" and the "all bi whiners" have been so loud, insistent and homophobic that the mainstream videogame media, hardly a bastion of equality and fairness, picked up on it. I'd kill for that kind of publicity for my side of the cause, negative is better than nothing!

Not sure if you got my intent. All I'm saying is that nobody should go around saying that a character is exclusively theirs (i.e. *only* for females or *only* for males), 'cause, well, that's just petty. Opening a character up for PCs of both sexes is the best solution for everyone, because it makes the most people happy, and doesn't arbitrarily exclude anybody. Plus, it's a game. It doesn't have to mimic reality. It's about fun and making the player happy.

They are saying more RP options = good.
Limiting them b/c it offends some people = bad.
Let's remove the option to play Renegade b/c I don't like it.

Generally speaking it did romance wise, excepting the homophobes of course. Some people would claim that that meta-game people don't like getting the rivalry with Anders but that's a non-starter because 1.) It's in Ander's personality to feel rejected and 2.) There is more than enough friendship points to be earned to make up for any loss if you were honestly going for friendly status and not just making stuff up.

I'd generally agree with this as long as they actually showed signs of being bi/gay in any capacity. But I would disagree if for example ashley was made gay/bi in ME3 that would be wrong not only because she never showed signs of it she just isn't. Also on the reality issue games like DA can get away with it but a game like Mass Effect which to me seems like they try to be realistic can't.
