I am extremely upset by this. And I'm extremely upset by the way it's being handled. Did they think people wouldn't try to hack them? They're freaking SONY and they don't have the best anti-hack people out there? Is there a way to delete a Playstation Network account? Because it's so not worth it if they're going to treat their customer like garbage by not honoring the customer's need to feel like their financial and personal information is secure.

You can delete your PSN account now if you want to, but it wont do anything. The information is already out there.

As for the reason Im looking in this thread in the first place...
I purchased a PSN card a few days ago and I want to spend it on the Sebastion DLC...but I can't. Its frustrating, because I can't allow myself to continue on with this save until I do. I guess I can just start more files while I'm waiting. :P

This is a huge problem for me cuz I can't activate my online redemtion code for Mass Effect 2 through my DAII now!! D: And the code isn't valid after the 30th of April (this coming weekend)!!! CURSE YOU PLAYSTATION NETWORK!!!! DX

Yeah, that sucks... Found any solution to this? Maybe BioWare could extend the time for the promotion?

They are conducting a full investigation into what happened (which involves bringing in outside help) and they won't bring up the system without making sure it's secure again. And since we are talking about a global network, we can be very certain that it will take quite a bit of time. They didn't even know if the accounts were compromised or not until recently.

I am guessing the system will be down for a while if Sony brought in an outside firm, and are doing an internal investigation...

If Bioware is smart (which is no guarantee) any promotional codes that are finalized during this "outage" they will extent it a couple of weeks after the network comes back up.

Me too. Something about some intrusion in the network and are in a full investigation to the cause of it.

What made me a little irritated with Sony was not that they got hacked, but that it took forever for them to tells anything about what was going on.

This is the email I got from Sony:

Valued PlayStation®Network/Qriocity Customer:

We have discovered that between April 17 and April 19, 2011,
certain PlayStation Network and Qriocity service user account
information was compromised in connection with an illegal and
unauthorized intrusion into our network. In response to this
intrusion, we have:

1) Temporarily turned off PlayStation Network and Qriocity services;

2) Engaged an outside, recognized security firm to conduct a full
and complete investigation into what happened; and

3) Quickly taken steps to enhance security and strengthen our
network infrastructure by rebuilding our system to provide you
with greater protection of your personal information.

We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and goodwill
as we do whatever it takes to resolve these issues as quickly and
efficiently as practicable.

Although we are still investigating the details of this incident,
we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following
information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country,
email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login,
and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data,
including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip),
and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may
have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your
dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have
been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit
card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have
provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity,
out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit
card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have
been obtained.

There's actually more but its WAY too long to copy and paste and I don't know whether I can post phone numbers in this forum.

I was looking forward to the free ME2 download, too. I have ME2 for the 360, and I own a Mac... but I would have loved it for my old old old old PC just because I love the game. Guess my free game isn't so free anymore, eh?

Well, this makes me happy I do all my transactions through PSN cards. Not happy, since my other data could be out there, but glad I never gave them my credit card number.

That happened to me a few months ago. The only cure for it is to buy a new ps3. I took the hard drive out of my old one and am just waiting to connect it up to an external hard drive so I can transfer my save data to the new one. Only problem is, with 3 children there isn't much time to do that sort of thing lol

Wtf! PSN Store could possibly be down until the end of May? *facepalm* I know they're doing their best to get this up and running all but, PSN store is the only thing I have interest in. I dont play Black OPs bs and all that other crap. Wtf good is having the service back up and running if I cant get into the store THAT I ACTUALLY USE?

Ok, I was understanding with sony at first but if this is the case, Im seriously considering trading in my PS3 at gamestop and just getting a second Xbox (having a back up never hurts lol) because this, is just out right, unadultrated bull****!! Good job sony, out frickin standing >.>

Yea this has pretty much ruined the wife and I ever buying anything from the PS Store. We were just now about to take our PS3 back to gamestop and trade it in but decided against it because we like having two consoles in the house. So, instead of giving up our second console, we've resigned to essentially boycotting the PS Store. Which kind of sucks because any DLC we would have been interested in, in regards to DA2 or any future game we do decide to own on PS3, wont be purchased. And especially sucks for DA2 because now we're going to be the last ones to the proverbial party when it comes to any DLC for this game. That's not to say we wont be playing at all, just that we're going to wait for the Ultimate Edition of the game to come out (a year plus from now) so that we dont have to purchase anything from the PS Store. Sure XBL had an incident like this back in '08 but it was no where near this scale of this.

If EA is smart, they'll jump on the bandwagon with other companies suing sony because although this probably wont cut into their profits as a whole, it will most certainly cut into any present and future profits the PS3 versions of the game could make. Not to mention they are probably kicking themselves in the balls right about now wondering why the hell they're doing a PS3 release of ME3 lol.

Ok, probably not but still, I'd like to think so lol. Up until this bs started I had always been a loyal fan of sony. Im not so much anymore. Had it not been for my wife liking having a second console in the house (even with the trade in we just cant afford the difference right now for getting a second Xbox) and the fact that we have the signature edition of the game already, we'd have sold our PS3 today.

Even still, we're keeping any eye on the situation as a whole. We've only postponed our decision atm. My wife is keeping an eye on sony's stock as of right now during all of this, and if it drops too much more than what it already has, she says we're getting rid of it regardless at that point :)

@LadyVaJedi and anyone else who hasnt read the blog - You do realize that even when the PSN comes back up, that the PSN Store wont be back up right away right?  That it could be the end of May before it's back up and running.  Which means no DLC, for any game, not just DA2

Soooo my DLC list for Origins/II shows certain things as downloaded (Battledress of the Provocateur, Witchcraft, etc.) but they aren't present in my game. I assume this must be PSN related?

Nope, that's an issue on your end I think.  Assuming you have the UE of Origins.  Also on your end in regards to DA2 as well because I can go downstairs right now and have all my SE/DLC bonuses.  Not sure what the issue is, but it's definately on your end :?

I'm running the CE of Origins.  I deleted some game data pertaining to Warden's Keep DLC so I wouldn't get the Sentinel Armor/Vigilance bug, but I've done that before without this happening.  Maybe I just need to play through the DLC again to unlock it, but why would my DLC list say that the rewards are already downloaded?
