Well, Spectres apparently do work in pairs some times.

Now would be a GREAT time for Spectres to team up, what with the universe about to get systematically annihilated and such.

You know, it is often said that if Nihlus survived Eden Prime, he would have become Shepard's mentor. THAT would be awesome, methinks.

It's often said because it's true:  Nihlus says Eden Prime will be "the first of many missions together".

Well, Shep's Spectre status was not yet solidified; the Council could very well have rejected Shep's admission if they wanted to.

Gameplay-wise, I hope she gets more skills. If she's a SpecTRe now, it's plausible she went through some type of training, right? At first, she was trained as a lowly grunt because her family was blacklisted throughout the Alliance, maybe she's an Infiltrator now? In ME1, it was cool to switch her guns while role-playing. When I took her and Wrex to Asteroid X57, I'd have them switching between shotguns and rifles. When I took her and Garrus to Virmire, she'd use her rifle and sniper while Garrus sniped all the way. In my third play through though, I just gunned down anyone who got in my way. Not much use for switching team mate's guns once you're level 60.

Nihlus would have made a better LI than Garrus, in my opinion :?

Yeah Shepard was N7 and so had a lot of training for Spec Ops and the like, and was supposed to have some prodigous talent for it. Ash is just a Gunnery Chief. (No insult to Gunnery Chiefs intended.)

A Gunnery Chief who helped stop a Geth army I might add.

I really wish Bioware would have expanded on that. :crying:

Shepard and crew werent the only ones there that day. how many other individuals were active during the Siege on the Citadel? How many were human? to place sole credit on Shep and pals would be a disservice to all others that fought, and died that day. Just cuz they were there isnt good enuff. Publicly, this is all VS would be noted for...as far as valor is concerned...thanks to the cover-up of most everything else. The hero of Virmire is the one that died.
why does it have to be a human spectre to "replace" Shepard? is it like some sort of futuristic affirmative action?

What's your point?  The missions would have been part of the evaluation.

I don't like the idea. Not because I happen to dislike Ash and Kaidan (although I admit that I dislike them) but because there was no buildup in the first two games. Had Garrus become a Spectre by ME2, there would have been no problem as it was made perfectly clear in ME1 that he was considered Spectre material. Nothing like that was ever said about the VS. Nothing happened in the games that would make them more qualified to be a Spectre than any other member of Shepard's team. And if something just magically happened off-screen that suddenly turned them into a badass, well, that's bad writing. Why? Because the best we'll get is some exposition at the start of ME3 about how awesome they are. But being told that someone's a badass isn't the same as actually seeing it through the course of the story, and I have yet to see anything from either VS that puts them even remotely close to that.

Basically.  There is no way a Krogan or Quarian is going to be made a Spectre and Liara is the Shadow Broker so the VS and Garrus are the only people from ME1 that it is plausible to be made Spectres.  Especially Kaidan, who was your XO during ME1.  Regardless of your actions in ME 1, humanity is pushing for more human Spectres.

It's not really a big deal. A lot of people don't seem to see any proof for her being able to be a Spectre but I mean, seriously? We got to see her for maybe 5 minutes out of the past 3 years you haven't seen her. A lot can happen in that amount of time.

I'm pretty sure your XO during ME1 was Presley, since he was referred to as XO Presley <_<

Yeah, you're right. Kaiden was just a commissioned officer. And Ashley was a Gunnery Chief, who as it's been established, should have been higher in rank than she was but was basically blacklisted by the Alliance because of her grandfather.

Probably everybody from the SR-2 have at least the fighting skills to become a Spectre. They're supposed to be the galaxy's best.

Kaidan and Ashley must be just as good, and they have the advantage of being formally trained soldiers, unlike people like Jack, Samara (who is an even better fighter than Nihlus was, apparently) and Grunt.

I hope they don't make them Spectres, because that takes away from Shepard's uniqueness, but I don't think it doesn't make sense.

doesn't make sense to be a spectre you have to get rid of all your old loyaltys as you have to protect the whole galaxy ash is to pro human plus it cheapens shepard being the first human spectre and only one that was a great view point to playImage IPB

It's already more or less confirmed that Kaiden and Ashley are Spectres.

I don't really think it takes away from Shepard's uniqueness, he's barely a Spectre anymore in practice anyway.

Having a human Spectre does serve the Alliance though. That's the reason they wanted Sheperd to get in so badly in ME 1.

Also, how does it cheapen Sheperd's achievment? Should there never be another human Spectre?

Keep in mind that nothing "quoted" is 100% guaranteed. We are still developing the game and features change, we adapt, refine and improve. Just because you think it is there now based off an old interview (or even a new one) that doesn't mean it will or will not be in the game.

I only point this out so people don't say "But I saw in a thread that "X" feature was confirmed". NOTHING is confirmed until we ship.
