To those that say that the VS helped take down tons of Geth and helped Shepard on the missions:

I don't think it counts because you don't have to take the VS anywhere with you after Eden Prime (nothing really major happens on the Citadel afterwards). I think that's more of a gameplay issue.

Sheperd was made a Spectre because of Eden Prime. Kaiden and Ashley both participated in Eden Prime and Virmire at the very least. This means that both were instrumental to Shep's success.

I'm beginning to suspect these people who don't agree with Ash becoming a SpecTRe is because they don't like them. Unqualified? She fought Geth and Rachni and a brainwashed army of Krogan. Heck, Ashley being a lowly unexperienced grunt before that would actually add to how great her capabilities are. Both she and Kaidan served as the only humans besides Shepard in the ground team for ME1, they are known across the galaxy as the people who stopped the galaxy from being taken over by a crazed Turian and his army of synthetic soldiers. And you'd rather an unknown become the next human SpecTRe?

Only problem is that they were led by Shepard during those missions. They did very little of that on their own.

@clonedzero That's my point. It's not canon and that is subjective, so that argument doesn't hold.

Shepard was saying that the galaxy was going to be attacked by a race of sentient robots who lived outside of the galaxy, and had no proof. That's like a hobo on the street yelling out "The world is endin' ta morrow!". Even then, they still sent him after Saren, both to try stopping him and to placate the Alliance. What makes it so hard to believe that they would make the VS a SpecTRe so they themselves could investigate the missing colonists? This time with having a human councillor to back them up, even.

they arent a spectre in ME2, they are in ME3 which is awhile after the events of ME2.

in ME2 they're just a high ranked alliance officer.

also more reasons they'd be a spectre. their files are heavily classified to TIM. and you gotta be doing some pretty important stuff for TIM not to be able to find out.

why keep it a secret?  unless they were uncover and were going by an alias...there is no need to keep it secret.

its not like the info is hard to get....and everytime a spectre has shown up in the games..everyone craps a load

so what is the S in S7? maybe they are internal security or some junk investigating Cerberus and cant tell Shep cuz they believe Shep is working for them.  THAT makes sense.

well. as "canon" i assume everyone helps out storywise.

personally i like to think the 6 from ME1 spilt into two teams and the ones you use are the point team and theres one a little ways back following up and watchign your back. or that they're staying back holding the mako so you have a way to get out. ect.

i think the same about ME2 (though not the entire team comes everytime) like you and two dudes go out to do your mission and a couple of your other squadmates stay back to keep the shuttle safe. cus honestly, leaving your shuttle just sitting there unguarded in hostile terrortory is kinda dumb

We don't actually know if the VS is a SpecTRe yet, I still can't take that PSN magazine-thing seriously. When I talked about the Council making them a SpecTRe, I was just assosiating my arguments with what we already know.

How does that make sense? Internal security for WHAT?

If Ash is a Spectre I sincerely hope that does not force her into my game so I don't have any say in whether or not I want her on my ship. I certainly won't be taking orders from her after her xenophobia in ME1 and her shortsightedness in ME2.

if ME1 and ME2 has taught me anything about shepard is he doesnt follow orders.
still one of the most satisfying things to do is to hang up on the council in ME1 during the debriefings

You realise someone has to make fan art of that, right? It's a good thing I saved Kirrahe, then.

Uh, yeah, well TIM also claimed Liara was working for the Broker, which he knew wasn't true.  He also somehow managed to learn Ash/Kaidan had been sent to Horizon despite their files being "surprisingly well classified."  And if you notice, he never actually says he wasn't able to get ahold of their files. He merely says they're classified.

So they ignore any other possible Spectre candidate? Nihlus's report to the Council would have blocked any contributions Kaiden and Ash made?

That's a bit silly.

S..like N (special forces) is a branch of the alliance. We dont know what S is. Im thinking S is intelligence, security forces, or internal security and they are investigating Cerberus because of potential agents working in the Alliance. i dont remember exactly..and i may be wrong..but i believe it was stated (atleast mentioned in ME1 ) that Cerberus was associated with Alliance Intelligence but went rogue and splintered off.

I actually agree with Ramirez Wolfen. The Council was undoubtedly focused solely on Shepard, although Ashley being the sole survivor of her squad is impressive.

How is that silly? It's stated that they were paying attention to Shepard. Nihlus was there to monitor Shepard, not Ashley or Kaidan, as they weren't being considered.

Them "holding the line" on Virmire would also be a notable accomplishment. People keep trying to compare the VS to what Shepard has done now when they should be comparing them to what Shepard had done by the time he became a Spectre.
